Chapter 140: Kimono Girl Challenge (1) [Bonus]

~Third POV~

[Johto Region, Days Later, Ecruteak City – Ecruteak Dance Theater]

Azure Sky, his backpack slung casually over his shoulder, gazed at the ornate architecture of Ecruteak City. Pikachu, perched happily on his shoulder, twitched its nose, absorbing the scents of incense and history hanging in the air.

Eevee, typically shy, stayed close to Azure's legs, her large eyes wide with curiosity. Celebi cutely eyed the Ecuteak City with genuine curiosity.

Johto was proving to be a fascinating region. Having retraced his steps, returning to Ecruteak City, Azure announced, scratching Pikachu behind its ear, "Alright, guys, let's check out the Ecruteak Dance Theater! Heard they put on a pretty good show about the legend of the Burned Tower."

Inside the theater, the air buzzed with anticipation. As the lights dimmed, the stage came alive. Dancers, adorned in vibrant kimonos, moved with fluid grace, their movements telling the tragic tale of the Burned Tower and the legendary Pokémon said to have once resided there.

Azure, usually restless, found himself captivated. The mournful music, the dramatic lighting, and the dancers' expressive movements brought the legend to life, painting a vivid picture of destruction and rebirth.

As the performance concluded, the Kimono Girls, five beautiful women each representing a different Eevee evolution, took center stage. Their leader smiled as she announced proudly, "Thank you all for attending! Now, for a little excitement, we're looking for a challenger! Someone willing to battle all five of us, one-on-one, in consecutive rounds. The victor will receive a rare and valuable prize!"

A murmur rippled through the audience. Azure felt a surge of adrenaline. This was exactly the type of challenge he craved. A chance to test his team, to push their limits, and to prove their strength.

He glanced at Pikachu, who sparked with excitement. Eevee, usually hesitant about battles, looked up at Azure with a determined glint in her eyes.

The Kimono Girl, named Sayo, with her Jolteon by her side, spoke in a kind tone, announcing with a light bow, "For the honor and traditions of old, we, the Kimono Girls, have provided a reward! We present the offering of the Tidal and Clear Bell."

One of the Kimono Sisters revealed the two bells, as this caught Azure's interest as he thought curiously as he used [Observe] on them as they were shown, 'Tidal and Clear Bells, huh? Weren't those Key items needed to summon Ho-Oh and Lugia?'

[Item: Clear Bell

Rarity Item: -

Type: Key Item

Description: A very old-fashioned bell that makes a gentle ringing sound. It can be used to draw Suicune on the first floor of the Tin Tower, and with the Rainbow Feather, can be used to summon Ho-Oh to the Bell Tower.]

[Item: Tidal Bell

Rarity Item: -

Type: Key Item

Description: A very old-fashioned bell that makes a gentle ringing sound. With the Silver Wing, this item can be used to summon Lugia to the Whirl Islands.]

Recalling from the game events, Azure knew those items were needed. But he shook his head as he thought harmlessly, 'Nah. I'm not looking to tussle some Legendary Pokémon here. But they would be great souvenirs in my journey in the Johto Region.'

Azure stepped forward. He declared, his voice ringing through the theater, "I accept your challenge!"

The Kimono Girls exchanged knowing smiles. The leader, Kimono Girl Sayo, nodded as she said respectfully, "Excellent! We'll begin right away. Just give us 30 minutes to prepare the field. Please prepare yourself, young Champion."

The words caused a stir as others began to recognize Azure Sky. Murmurs were heard as he nodded, returning to the Pokémon Center as he thought happily, 'Perfect! Their Eeveelutions are all around Lv.38. They'll be perfect practice for a few of my lower-level team members.'

Going to the Pokémon Center, Azure prepared to reorganize his rotation. He was excited for what the Kimono Girls would do, and choosing which Pokémon was vital to his success in winning those bells.

[Johto Region, 30 Min. Later, Ecruteak City – Ecruteak Dance Theater]

After some time, Azure finally picked his team for this consecutive battle against the Kimono Girls. His lineup for his current rotation involved Ursaring, Hitmontop, Heracross, Weavile, Quagsire, and Pupitar.

Feeling confident in his rotation, he arrived on time for his challenge. People began to take out their Rotom Phones, video recording the challenge.

The stage was quickly rearranged, transforming into a makeshift battlefield. The announcer's voice boomed through the theater, introducing the first Kimono Girl in an excited tone, "Presenting the Kimono Girl Sisters is none other than… Miki, with her Flareon!"

Miki stepped forward, her kimono a fiery shade of orange, mirroring the flames that danced around her Flareon. The Fire-type radiated heat and intensity.

Azure took a deep breath, his mind racing. He needed a Pokémon that could withstand the heat and deliver a powerful blow.

His gaze landed on Ursaring's Poke Ball. She's a mountain of muscle and fur, her eyes burning with a primal fierceness.

Azure declared, throwing a Poké Ball into the air, "Ursaring, I choose you!"

*Pop*

With a roar that shook the theater, Ursaring materialized on the stage. Its massive paws were planted firmly on the ground, its gaze locked onto Flareon.

The air crackled with anticipation. Miki smiled confidently as she ordered, "A strong choice, Champion. But Flareon is ready. Flareon, use Flamethrower!"

*Sssss*

Flareon unleashed a torrent of flames, a searing wave that threatened to engulf Ursaring. Azure reacted instantly as he commanded, "Ursaring, Protect! Then, use Agile Style! Earthquake!"

*Clang*

Ursaring braced itself against the fiery assault, casting a transparent barrier using the Move Protect. The flames washed over it, causing it to grunt in exertion, but it held its ground.

As the Flamethrower abated, Ursaring slammed its paws onto the ground, unleashing a devastating Earthquake. It grinned fiercely, seeing its intended effect.

*RMBL*

The stage shuddered violently. Flareon, caught off guard, struggled to maintain its balance as the ground beneath its feet swayed.

The audience gasped as the powerful ground-type move ripped through the arena. Miki's eyes widened in alarm.

She hadn't anticipated such raw power as she cried out quickly, "Flareon, get up! Use Quick Attack!"

Flareon, shaking off the effects of the Earthquake, darted forward in a blur. But Ursaring was ready.

Azure shouted, his voice ringing with confidence, "Ursaring, Strong Style! Slash!"

*Shinng*

Ursaring's arm swung in a wide arc, a devastating slash that connected with Flareon before it could complete its Quick Attack. The force of the impact sent Flareon flying across the stage, slamming into the far wall with a resounding thud.

*THUD*

Flareon lay motionless, its eyes swirling. It was unable to battle.

The announcer's voice echoed through the theater for all to hear, "Flareon is unable to battle! Ursaring wins! Trainer Azure Sky wins the first round!"

A cheer erupted from the audience. Azure grinned, patting Ursaring on its massive shoulder as he said happily, "Great job, Ursaring! You were amazing!"

Ursaring roared its approval, its chest puffed out with pride. Azure recalled Ursaring, knowing he would need to conserve its strength for the battles to come.

He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the next challenge. The Tidal Bell and the Clear Bell were within his reach.

The Kimono Girls exchanged knowing glances. Seeing how their first sister, Miki Flareon, fell easily showed that, despite the rumors, the Champion forming a new team from scratch was someone who should still be fought with extreme caution.

The second to step forward was Kuni, adorned in a beautiful blue kimono, her movements as fluid and graceful as water. At her side was her partner, a magnificent Vaporeon, its fins shimmering under the theater lights.

She said, bowing slightly in grace, "I am Kuni. Let us begin."

Azure took a deep breath. He knew Vaporeon was a powerful Special Attacker, capable of unleashing devastating Water-type moves.

He needed a Pokémon that could resist those attacks and strike back with super-effective damage. He scanned his team in his mind.

Azure declared, throwing the Poké Ball into the arena, "Quagsire, I choose you!"

*Pop*

With a flash of light, Quagsire materialized, its perpetually vacant stare fixed on Vaporeon. The crowd murmured in surprise. Quagsire, a Water/Ground type, was unusual but possessed a significant advantage – complete immunity to Electric-type moves and resistance to Water-type attacks.

Kuni, however, remained unperturbed. She commanded in a calm voice, "Vaporeon, use Water Gun!"

*SPLASH*

Vaporeon unleashed a powerful jet of water, aimed directly at Quagsire. Azure anticipated the move calmly, smirking at the powerful jet of water splashing against Quagsire.

But to the audience's shock, Quagsire remained the same. It looked quite pleased being splashed by the Water Gun as Kuni thought in realization, 'Water Absorb. It has the same ability as my Vaporeon, so that's why he chose Quagsire!'

Azure, returning to the battle, countered, his voice ringing with confidence, "Quagsire, Strong Style! Mud Shot!"

Quagsire nodded, showing narrowed eyes. Getting into a serious mood, it prepared its Mud Shot as its face began to grow large, prepared to shoot, but Kuni countered, "Block with Water Gun!"

*Splat*

Quagsire responded instantly, firing a glob of mud that intercepted the Water Gun, effectively negating the attack. The mud splattered across the arena, slowing Vaporeon down.

Azure commanded, "Now, Quagsire, use Earthquake!"

*THUD*

*RMBL*

Quagsire stomped its feet, unleashing a powerful Earthquake that shook the entire arena. Vaporeon, already weakened by the Mud Shot, struggled to maintain its balance.

The Ground-type move was effective, dealing significant damage. Not only that, but the mud from the earlier Mud Shot also hampered Vaporeon's movement

Vaporeon cried out, its health bar dwindling close to zero. Kuni, realizing the battle's tide had turned, gritted her teeth as she yelled, desperate to land a final blow, "Vaporeon, use Shadow Ball!"

Vaporeon charged, but it was too late. Azure had anticipated her move as he countered easily, "Quagsire, use Stone Edge!"

*RMBL*

Quagsire launched a concentrated stone pillar, slamming its foot down that struck Vaporeon squarely in the chest. The Water-type Pokémon fainted, collapsing onto the muddy arena floor, leaving Kuni with a shocked expression.

A surprised silence fell over the audience. Azure had won the second round, cleverly exploiting Quagsire's unique typing to overcome a Trainer known for her graceful and powerful attacks.

He retrieved Quagsire, praising its efforts. As he looked at the three remaining Kimono Girls, a surge of determination flowed through him. This was just the beginning.

He had a long way to go, and he was ready for the challenge. He grinned, rubbing Quagsire's head happily, and said proudly, "Good work, buddy. Glad to see the training with the Main Team is working off."

Quagsire nodded with a carefree expression, saluting, "Quagg!"

Azure chuckled as he recalled Quagsire into its Poké Ball. He turned his attention to the remaining Kimono Girls with an eager expression, wanting to battle, grinding his Pokémon Levels.
