Chapter 139: Rainbow Trial

~Third POV~

[Kanto Region, Sevii Islands, Navel Rock – 4F]

Elsewhere, on a deserted island uncharted by man, lies an island between Four and Five Islands in the Sevii Islands. Deep within the fourth floor of the Naval Rock lies a large, avian, rainbow-colored Bird Pokémon, Ho-Oh.

Ho-Oh is an avian Pokémon resembling a phoenix and a peacock. Its feathers are predominantly gold and red, with yellow tail feathers, a white underside, and green feathers at the tip of its wings.

Ho-Oh has a green stripe on its neck, a yellow beak, black rings around its red eyes, and a feathered, yellow crest on its head. Ho-Oh's wings are prismatic, causing it to trail a rainbow behind it. It has darkly colored feet and legs with four toes and long talons.

*Sssss*

Its eyes shot wide open as its gaze darted towards the entrance of the cave. Turning, it saw its loyal vassals Raikou, Entei, Marshadow, and Suicune as they kneeled, declaring telepathically, 'Lord Ho-Oh! Your loyal vassals have finally found you!'

Ho-Oh's eyes shot with surprise, seeing its loyal Beast Trio and Shadow Guidance all appear in front of it. But then its gaze softens, seeing its vassals as it spoke telepathically to them, 'My loyal vassals… to think I would see the day seeing you all again. But how did you escape that villain's trap…'

The Beast Trio and Marshadow explained how they managed to escape from the Masked Man's trap. Ho-Oh was stunned to hear the story of a human who had partnered with Celebi to rescue them and managed to locate Ho-Oh after doing the human a favor, healing a friend's arm.

Hearing this, Ho-Oh was stunned by the news, and Pryce the Masked Man was changing his ways under this human 'Azure Sky' influence. Not only that, but its Beast Trio accounts shared a deep bond with their Pokémon.

Ho-Oh pondered this deeply as Suicune shared its visions that Celebi shared with the Rainbow Pokémon. Ho-Oh's eyes widened, seeing Azure's past from his humble beginnings in Kanto to the adventures he endured.

Not only that, but they saved and battled for the sake of Pokémon. Even saving Lugia's vassals of the Bird Trio gave Ho-Oh deep contemplation about Azure Sky and his deeds, saving the Kanto Region, and battling Team Rocket.

After some time giving some thoughts, Ho-Oh finally responded, alerting the Beast Trio and Marshadow with wide eyes as it said, '… I've come to a decision. Of all the humans I've observed over the centuries… he is the one most worthy to carry the title of the next Rainbow Hero.'

To Ho-Oh, this wasn't a compliment; it was high praise from a divine being. In truth, Ho-Oh thought Azure wasn't worthy, but seeing his love and care for his Pokémon from Suicune reminded it so much of its previous Rainbow Heroes' compassion, trust, and strength being in tune with their Pokémon.

But the Legendary Beasts didn't know what to think. However, Ho-Oh declared in a serious tone, drawing attention, 'But first, despite his deeds, he'll need to be tested. The Rainbow Trail shall now commence!'

*Fwp*

Spreading its wings, revealing an awe-inspiring rainbow glow, the Beast Trio knelt their heads down as Suicune said loyally, 'I understand. By your command, Lord Ho-Oh, we shall test this Trainer and guide him to the Bell Tower.'

Ho-Oh nodded as the Beast Trio vanished, fulfilling their Lord's command. Marshadow sank into the darkness as Ho-Oh closed its eyes, waiting for the promised time to return to Johto…

[Johto Region, Meanwhile, Mahogany Town – Secret Base]

Days had passed since Azure spoke to Pryce, and there was a large commotion at the secret base's entrance that lay in Mahogany Town. Many Team Rocket Members were being detained by Officer Jenny's Police Force.

Pryce was with them, detaining and capturing the remnants of the criminal organization as one of the officers. Jenny spoke, saluting Pryce in a respectful tone, "Thank you for your assistance, Gym Leader Pryce! We've heard reports from others of the emergence of Team Rocket occurring in Johto, never did we expect them to use Mahogany Town in this building as their base!"

Pryce, acting as a Gym Leader, nodded with four people behind him as he said in a disappointed tone, "I agree. I suppose I've gotten a bit old to notice them, but frankly, with my Gym Trainers, we managed to swiftly deal with them before they could harm our beautiful city and Region."

Officer Jenny smiled, hearing Pryce's words as she turned to detain the other Team Rocket Members. But Will, using his Psychic abilities, asked telepathically, 'But sir… why did you dismantle your organization? After all this work… just to see you destroy it in the end?'

Pryce remained calm and steady as Sham, Carl, Karen, and Will stared at him. He merely chuckled as he said calmly, "Easy. I've gotten what I've sought after for so long that everything else doesn't matter. All thanks to Azure."

Karen and Will frown hearing that. Sham and Carl both pledged to Pryce as they said in a respectful tone, "Even so, sir… we still pledge our service to you alone. We'll follow you for what you need, sir."

Pryce slightly frowns, hearing this, as it was his fault he had brainwashed and kidnapped them from their lives. He sighed, seeing he'll have to fix them in a calm tone, "… very well. But I expect you two to have a goal you want in life rather than serve me."

Both nodded respectfully, bowing, "Sir Pryce!"

Pryce turns to Will and Karen, each handing them the Glacier Badge. This confused them as he stated bluntly, "You two decided to follow me out of your own goal and will to seek something fun. I've trained you well, thus handing you the Glacier Badge, and if you seek something fun… how about challenging the Pokémon League? No doubt Azure will attend if you seek revenge, try to humiliate him in the grand big stage, no?"

Hearing his name, both their eyes narrowed at the person who ruined their fun. Karen slowly smiles, flipping her hair as she mutters, "Taking on the gym, huh? It might be fun crushing those Gym Leaders…"

Will scoffed as he smirked coldly, showing his arrogance as he declared proudly, "Oh please. It'll be a cake walk for us to crush. The sooner we beat those Gym Leaders, the sooner we'll get our revenge on that jerk who trolled us!"

Having a new goal in sight, both turned to leave, walking past Pryce, heading to the nearest Gym. Pryce chuckled lightly, helplessly shaking his head, "Haha… those two are gonna be in for a hard time dealing with Clair. But at least they have a goal for now…"

Then he turned his head to Sham and Carl. He sighed, having some work as he thought curiously, 'Well… I'll be gone in a few years, ahead, I'll need someone to watch over my Gym and Pokémon. And if they're that stubborn to not find their real families… I suppose I can still use them if they still follow me.'

Pryce could only sigh, shaking his head helplessly. With that, he began to work on dealing with Team Rocket remnants.

[Johto Region, Meanwhile, Violet City]

Meanwhile, as other events were happening, Azure was inside a restaurant having some lunch with another Trainer. Azure asked curiously, hearing her request, "So let me get this straight? Crystal or Crys for short came to me by Prof. Oak's request?"

The Trainer he was casually speaking to was Crys or Crystal, the Dex Holder with the title Capturer. She had just captured Chikorita, which escaped Elm and Prof. Oak from Cherrygrove City, arriving at Route 30.

Impressed by her bravery, added Chikorita to her team and was ecstatic to learn the PC System was fixed. Then, at the request of Prof. Oak, locate and meet with Azure to request him.

Crys nodded her head as she played with Chikorita lightly, as she explained nervously, rubbing her hands together, "Yeah… the Professor said I should meet up with you to see if you can share any data on the Pokémon you've captured in Johto. He said it'll be easy to gather some data for the completion of the Pokedex."

Azure chuckled lightly as he nodded his head, agreeing, showing his Arc Phone. He pressed his Pokedex App function as he casually said, "Sure. You have a Rotom Phone, so I can transfer data to you?"

Crys shook her head as she revealed the advanced Johto Pokedex as she explained happily in an upbeat tone, "No need. You can transfer the data of the Pokémon you've seen through your Pokedex App. Still have to say those Rotom Phones are certainly handy. Shame they can't show all the details in Pokémon just yet…"

Azure chuckled as he transferred the data. He couldn't agree more with Crystal on the idea that the Pokedex App function of the Rotom Phone.

At this current time, the Pokedex App in Rotom Phones is provided to help Trainers show the data of the Pokémon they encounter using the camera function. Once scanned using the Camera, the data is kept and recognized for the user to see the info provided on what the Pokémon is capable of.

Unfortunately, even such a great advancement of the Rotom Phone appearing it hasn't reached the state where it would showcase moves, abilities, and typing like the Pokedex given to Professors. Not only that, the Pokedex is always updating on the fly by their respective professors, whereas the Rotom Phone needs days to weeks to update worldwide on a global scale.

However, Azure wasn't concerned as the data was transferred over, he thought humorously of the latest update, 'Yeah, only showing bio data is kind of a letdown… but from what I heard of Geeta, they are launching a new update on the Pokedex App with the collaboration of the people creating Poke Balls would show a Trainer's own Pokémon personal data of what Moves, known abilities, and held items shown they possess.'

Azure chuckled at the idea of how the Pokémon Adventures world was slowly changing into the games, where everyone can see their own Pokémon info without a Pokedex. And even then, Pokedex might become obsolete for the new updated Pokedex App that everyone can have.

Although even Azure knew the Pokedex always had an edge with additional features like the Hunt Feature, where they can track down the wild Pokémon they missed when they encountered it. Or they can trade immediately between Dex Holders.

Upon thinking this, Azure pondered as Crys looked over the date with a stunned expression in a curious tone, 'Hmm… maybe I should look into checking how a Linking Cord is made so I can make a staple product for people who want to evolve their Trade Evolution Pokémon without worrying someone wouldn't want to trade back – '

"ARE YOU SERIOUS!!"

Azure was brought out of his thoughts as Crys showed the data entry for No.240 – 245. And No.252 – 256 in a tone of disbelief, "How the heck did you meet these Pokémon! These are all Legendary and Mythical!!"

Azure shrugged his shoulders as he got the info on Ho-Oh and Lugia when he had the Silver and Rainbow Feathers. Meeting Mewtwo during the battle against Lance, and Mew was a given in his first journey.

Crys froze in disbelief at Azure's casual attitude as he stood up, cheekily grinning, stretching his arms, "Okay! With that done, with time for me to hit the road! Pleasure meeting you, Crys, but the call of adventure awaits! Let's go, guys!"

Pikachu climbed onto his shoulder, chirping happily. Eevee claimed his head as she sat above all. Celebi floated by his side as they returned to their journey, as Crys was gobsmacked, seeing how a normal person like Azure was casually meeting Legendary and Mythical Pokémon...
