Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Ambush
After watching Ron disappear into the forest, Lukino quietly set down his binoculars.
Instead of hesitating about whether to enter the forest, Lukino chose to move ahead, bypassing it entirely, and lay in wait for Ron.
Though there was still a considerable distance to the lake, judging from Ron's speed and demeanor, Lukino had already made his plan. All that remained was to conduct one final test and then meticulously set a trap to ensure Ron's demise.
Directing his Fearow to avoid Ron's likely path, Lukino took every precaution, even in the air, unwilling to take any risks.
Little did he know, Ron had already marked him as a target from within the forest.
With a flash of Teleport, Ron's Kirlia carried the team in pursuit.
As Lukino approached the forest's edge, he ordered Fearow to slow down, looking for a suitable vantage point.
In the next moment, Kirlia and Machamp appeared behind Lukino.
The sudden sense of danger prompted Lukino to leap off Fearow's back without hesitation, tightly gripping his Poké Balls.
Although Lukino reacted swiftly, Kirlia matched his pace. Using Psychic to attack, she was intercepted by Lukino's Weavile.
Unable to land a direct hit, Kirlia refocused her Psychic power, forcing Lukino's Poké Balls to fall from his belt and locking them in place, significantly reducing his combat capability.
Machamp's sole target was Fearow.
Launching an Aura Sphere followed by a Rock Slide for cover, Machamp quickly closed the gap.
With four powerful arms, Machamp unleashed Finger Pistol, piercing Fearow's wings.
As Fearow struggled, Machamp's relentless Finger Pistol created a series of bloody wounds across Fearow's throat.
After releasing his strongest Pokémon, Weavile, Lukino disregarded their shared plummet toward the ground. Instead, he kept a sharp eye on Kirlia, wary of any sudden attacks.
Sensing Weavile's Elite-level aura, Kirlia ceased her assault and used Teleport to retreat with Machamp.
As the ground drew closer, Lukino returned Weavile to its Poké Ball before releasing it again just as he neared the earth.
Landing securely, Weavile leaped upward to catch Lukino mid-fall.
"Go quickly!"
Without dismounting from Weavile's arms, Lukino urged his Pokémon forward.
Although he wasn't sure how Ron had discovered him, Lukino knew he had no chance of victory with only two Pokémon left.
The only option was to escape before Ron could catch up.
However, despite Weavile's agility and Quick Attack, it couldn't outrun Kirlia's repeated Teleports—especially with Kirlia using Psychic to track their every movement.
Soon, Lukino spotted figures in the distance, their silhouettes disappearing and reappearing as they rapidly closed the gap.
"Scyther, block them!"
Luno released his Level 46 Scyther, the second-strongest Pokémon on his team after Weavile.
The moment Scyther appeared, it charged at Ron's group without hesitation.
"Machamp, take care of it quickly. I'll leave a marker for you."
Assessing Scyther's strength with his Fighting Aura, Ron instructed Machamp to deal with it.
Machamp responded by vanishing with Shave, reappearing with Double Fire Slash aimed at Scyther.
Meanwhile, Kirlia Teleported past Scyther with Ron, narrowing the distance to Lukino.
"Weavile, it's all up to you now."
After a brief glance at Ron's remaining Pokémon, Lukino slid off Weavile's arms, ordering it to turn back and attack Ron's group.
In Lukino's estimation, his Level 49 Weavile far outclassed Ron's remaining Pokémon.
Machamp was occupied with Scyther, leaving only Ron's Persian, the Elite-level Bellossom, and a few weaker Pokémon.
In this situation, if Lukino didn't counterattack, Machamp would eventually finish Scyther and pin him down, erasing all hope of escape.
Weavile set Lukino down and immediately turned to engage the enemy.
"Bellossom, use Magical Leaf for long-range support!"
"Kirlia, lock Weavile's position with Psychic to keep it from closing in!"
"Persian, it's all up to you until Machamp gets here!"
Ron's commands echoed as Bellossom and Kirlia flanked him for protection.
Persian used Shave to charge at Weavile.
On the other side of the battlefield, Scyther was already badly wounded.
To join the fray as soon as possible, Machamp unleashed a ferocious barrage, flames continuously enveloping its fists.
Dodging Scyther's Air Slash with ease, Machamp closed the gap and used Shave: Spoon, disappearing from sight.
In an instant, Machamp's fiery figure reappeared, its attacks relentlessly battering Scyther.
The unrelenting assault left Scyther with no choice but to guard its vital points.
Suddenly, Machamp's attacks ceased. With all four arms, it used Finger Pistol to pierce Scyther's back.
A spray of blood erupted as Scyther, with its final act, swung backward in desperation.
Machamp avoided the strike with Shave and charged toward the main battlefield.
The Finger Pistol had already pierced Scyther's heart, ensuring its life would soon fade without further effort.
In the fight between Persian and Weavile, the latter quickly gained the upper hand due to its higher level.
Bellossom and Kirlia's support provided crucial disruptions, but Weavile maintained its dominance.
At first, Lukino considered fleeing the battlefield entirely but ultimately stayed, knowing Weavile couldn't handle all the enemies alone. To ensure his safety, Lukino remained to direct Weavile's attacks.
"Persian, Shave: Spoon!"
Ron's voice rang out, and Persian charged forward.
"Weavile, Icicle Crash!"
Sharp icicles rained down around Weavile, both increasing the difficulty of Persian's advance and providing Weavile an opportunity to counterattack.
Amidst the pristine white ice pillars, a trace of greenery began to sprout. Bellossom was controlling its Magical Leaf to strike at Weavile.
Coordinating with Bellossom's assault, Persian launched a swift ambush toward Weavile.
Just as Lukino was about to issue a command, a sudden sharp pain pierced his heart and throat.
Withdrawing his hand, Machamp joined the fray against Weavile, leaving Lukino clutching his heart and throat, unable to halt the life draining from his body.
