Pokemon: A Legendary Adventure

Chapter 19: The Unown and Responsability

Bidding farewell to Nurse Joy, the four head toward their room.

"So, when do you guys plan to start your journey?" Victor asks, trying to start a conversation.

"We're planning to save up enough money before setting out, so we'll be staying in the city a bit longer while helping out the little brats," Azami replies with a smile.

"Yeah, plus, the forest still has plenty of resources we can take advantage of, so we'll stick around a little longer," Tyson says, yawning.

Lakin continues walking toward the room, silent as always.

Entering the room, Victor looks around before speaking.

"The top bunk is mine!" he declares, tossing his backpack onto it and placing Marill on the bed.

Sentret jumps from Victor's shoulder onto the bed as well. Smiling at the others, Victor says, "Pick yours."

With that, Victor climbs into his bed.

Hearing him, the other three choose their own beds.

As the others settle in, Victor takes out his laptop and plugs in a flash drive he retrieved from his backpack.

Opening it, he navigates to a program he had been working on at his school's computer before transferring it to the flash drive.

The Pokédex.

Yes.

Victor is creating his own Pokédex, based on the memories of his former world as well as everything he has learned about Pokémon since arriving in this one.

Opening the program, an interface appears, dividing it into two sections: Pokédex and Simulator.

Accessing the Pokédex, Victor scrolls through the Pokémon entries until he selects one and begins writing.

No. 0201

Pokémon Name: Unown

Type: Psychic

Species: Symbol Pokémon

Height: 0.5 m (1'08")

Weight: 5.0 kg (11.0 lbs)

Abilities: 1. Levitate

Possible Locations: Tanoby Ruins in Kanto, Ruins of Alph in Johto, Mirage Spots in Hoenn, Solaceon Ruins in Sinnoh.

Description: Their shapes resemble hieroglyphs found on ancient tablets. It is said that the two are somehow connected. Their thin, flat bodies are always attached to walls. Their forms seem to have some kind of meaning. Since there are different types of Unown, it is believed that they may have a variety of abilities. This Pokémon is shaped like ancient writing. It remains a mystery which came first—the ancient script or the various Unown. Research on this topic is ongoing, but nothing is certain.

Personal Analysis: With Hidden Power as their only move, Unown have the ability to alter reality, but only when many of them gather together. They can also create representations of other Pokémon, including Legendary ones. Alone, they pose no threat, but with more than two, the danger level increases.

Looking at his own analysis, Victor chuckles.

"Unown… that kind of power… I need to visit the Ruins of Alph. If I capture a few, maybe I could… create a training room?"

Following this train of thought, Victor grins, reminiscing about his past life.

'Pokémon 3: Spell of the Unown—that was a great movie. It really highlighted the extent of the Unown's power. Using a little girl's wish to reshape reality… So much power…'

Glancing at the clock, Victor mutters to himself, "Wow, an hour already?"

Saving his work, he puts away his laptop.

Looking around, he notices Azami and Lakin are already asleep.

Not seeing Tyson, he decides to head to the bathroom before going to the cafeteria for some water.

Arriving there, he finds Tyson sitting at a table with a glass of water in front of him.

After getting his own glass, Victor walks over to him.

"Thirsty?" Tyson asks, glancing at the glass in Victor's hand.

"A little. You?" Victor responds with a smile.

"Yeah," Tyson replies, his smile a bit tense.

"What's wrong?" Noticing Tyson's demeanor, Victor narrows his eyes.

"Nothing, man," Tyson says, still looking tense.

"Tyson…" Victor looks him straight in the eyes.

"Alright, alright, man," Tyson says, crossing his arms in front of his face, unable to withstand Victor's stare. He sighs before continuing, "I was checking our savings, and we have enough to fund the start of our journey."

"And?" Victor raises an eyebrow.

"I wanted to save up enough for the other orphans to go on a journey too, but they won't be able to," Tyson says, a sad smile on his face.

"Hey, man. You need to stop pressuring yourself like this. They're still young—they'll have plenty of time to travel once they save up in the future. And it's not your responsibility," Victor says, patting Tyson on the back.

"I know, but you've seen it yourself—the forest can be dangerous. I don't want them going in there to earn money," Tyson says firmly, looking Victor in the eye.

Meeting his gaze, Victor takes a deep breath and says seriously, "Tyson, are you stupid? The journey is dangerous! If you don't want them to be in danger, maybe they shouldn't even leave Purple Town."

Hearing Victor's response, Tyson falls silent, looking down as he processes his words.

Then, as if realizing something, he starts laughing. "Hahahaha."

Lifting his head, he looks at Victor before responding. "You're right. I want to give them a better life. After all, as long as they call me their big brother, they're my responsibility. But I have to let them stand on their own feet."

Taking a deep breath, Tyson stands up and says, "Thanks."

"No problem, man," Victor replies with a smile, extending his fist.

Seeing the gesture, Tyson bumps his fist against Victor's before saying, "Alright, enough drama for today. Let's get some sleep—I'm exhausted."

"Of course you are," Victor replies with a laugh.

Back in the room, as they enter, Tyson says, "Goodnight, man."

"Goodnight."

Lying down, Victor looks at Marill, who is fast asleep, clutching Sentret's tail, a bit of drool starting to drip.

"Sent…"

Half-asleep, Sentret twitches his ears before dozing off again.

Smiling at them, Victor says, "Goodnight, little ones," before drifting off.

---

The next morning, Victor wakes up with a yawn. Stretching, he looks over to see Marill still clutching Sentret's tail—except now, it's completely drenched in drool.

Chuckling, Victor gently pokes Marill awake.

"Marill?" She lets go of Sentret's tail and rubs her belly sleepily.

"Hey, sorry for waking you up, little one."

"Marill," she says, reaching out her arms for a hug.

"Come here," Victor says, picking her up.

Taking a Poké Ball case from his backpack, he opens it in front of Marill.

"Hey, little one. Want to choose one?"

Marill looks at the selection, scanning each Poké Ball before pointing at one.

"This one?"

"Marill," she confirms.

A Love Ball.

"A perfect Poké Ball for little girls," Victor says, taking the Love Ball and placing Marill on the bed.

"I'll ask again, Marill—do you want to be my partner and travel the world with me?" he asks, holding up the Love Ball.

"Marill!" she chirps excitedly, tapping the Love Ball.

With a flash of red light, Marill is absorbed into the Poké Ball.

"Sentret?" Startled by the light, Sentret wakes up.

(0.0#) "SENT!" He jumps up, looking at his tail, then around with a furious expression.

"Hahaha… relax, buddy. Go wash it off in the bathroom," Victor laughs, patting Sentret's head.

With Sentret cleaning up, Victor packs his things before heading to the lobby.

There, he spots his grandfather, Andrew—just as firm and good-humored as ever—talking to Nurse Joy.

Approaching them, Victor greets them with a nod.

"Good morning, Grandpa. Good morning, Nurse Joy."

"Good morning, sweetheart," Nurse Joy replies with a warm smile.

"Good morning, brat," Andrew also responds with a warm smile, but for some reason, that smile sends a shiver down Victor's spine.

Feeling the chill, Victor instinctively tries to dodge, but he isn't fast enough to match Andrew's speed.

"Ouch!" After receiving a flick on the head, Victor groans in pain, placing a hand on his head as he crouches down.

"Why did you do that?" Victor asks, tears welling up in his eyes.

"Because you had your first adventure. I'm proud of you," Andrew answers with a nod.

"But what about the flick on the head?" Victor asks again, a bit indignant.

"Because you were really dumb during that little adventure," Andrew says indifferently, shrugging.

"I see..." Victor responds, deflating like a balloon.

After chatting for a little longer, Victor learns that Andrew came in the old ranch truck. Remembering his friends, he spots them in the cafeteria before turning to his grandfather.

"Grandpa, I met some friends from Purple Town here in Violet City. Could you give them a ride?"

"Friends of yours? Do I know them?"

"I don't think so. They're from Miss Rosa's orphanage," Victor replies.

"Ah, so they're from Miss Rosa's orphanage. Sure, call them over. There's still space in the truck. I can give them a ride. I'll call Rosa to let her know," Andrew says, feeling a bit proud of his grandson's behavior.

Quickly making his way to the three siblings, Victor greets them.

"Good morning, guys. Did you sleep well?"

"Good morning, Victor," Tyson responds, waving with a smile.

"Good morning. We slept well. It feels so good to sleep in a real bed instead of camping out in the forest," Azami stretches with a satisfied smile on her face.

Hearing Azami's comment, Lakin nods in agreement.

"What do you want?" Lakin asks, looking at Victor calmly.

'That's an improvement,' Victor thinks as he notices Lakin's more composed demeanor.

Then, pointing in the direction where Andrew is talking to Nurse Joy, he says, "My grandpa came to pick me up. You guys can come with us. He's also letting Miss Rosa know."

"Alright, let's go," Tyson agrees after thinking for a moment.

"Let's go!"

I tried to create a heavier moment in this part. I still don't think I'm very good at writing these kinds of scenes, but I'll try to improve since I'm planning to work on a LitRPG project. So, I want to enhance my writing skills. After all, I have an idea that won't leave my mind, and I want to try to bring it to life.

If you know a good LitRPG novel to recommend, leave a comment here.
