Players Invade Cyberpunk

Chapter 54: Making Money, Not Embarrassing_3

But Lin Miao had already explained this to Reyes.

"No problem, these two sample machines can be considered gifts from their company for this meeting. They can take them back directly."

"Oh?"

The six people all showed joy, but then furrowed their brows.

The issue isn't scarcity but inequality. Six people definitely can't split two sets, so they still need to buy them, and discuss any remaining issues back home.

They are mid-level members of the Sixth Street Gang, far from fighting over two sets of cheap exoskeletons.

After the six people were sent off, Reyes shook his head. This is why he didn't want to start a company.

Being a middleman is great; you don't have to grovel to anyone. The business isn't even started yet, and he already gave away merchandise worth thirty thousand for free.

If it goes wrong and they don't want to do business, Lin Miao will just have to swallow the bitter pill.

He looked at the screen where both sides in the tunnel were still fiercely fighting. Lin Miao's team was launching 300-euro rockets like they were free.

There's simply no comparison in expenses between fighting at cost and buying arms for a fight.

However, Reyes felt things had reached a point of completion. To him, it was just a performance. The audience had left, so continuing the fight was unnecessary, right?

He should quickly retreat while there are no losses.

So he dialed Lin Miao's number; the guy had already joined his men on the front line.

"You can call it a day; the audience has left."

"..."

Lin Miao wasn't wearing an exoskeleton; instead, he was on the front line with a rifle, shoulder to shoulder with the players.

As the Night Wanderers responded, continually sending weapons to the front line, the players' advance had become somewhat strenuous.

"How's their attitude?"

He fired a burst of bullets at a high-risk target in his sight, pinning that sniper behind cover.

"Hard to say. Anyway, they took the goods back. They also contacted you privately to order a batch of a special version. My Captain America, eh? How did you come up with that name? Don't you find it embarrassing?"

Reyes recited the name, feeling goosebumps all over.

It's too damn hard to keep a straight face.

Lin Miao grinned and called in a rocket launcher, sending the sniper and his cover sky-high.

"In business, there's no shame."

"Shameful! It's damn shameful! I've almost lost face entirely; next time find someone else for this. Anyway, I can't do it."

Reyes felt that he would be startled awake by this name even in his dreams. Maybe Mayer, sitting in the White House for the New United States, should step down and let Lin Miao take over.

To shameless this degree, even Reyes felt nauseated.

After waiting a while, Reyes frowned because he realized the other side seemed to have no plans for retreat.

"Aren't you ordering your men to retreat?"

"Retreat? Retreat for what?"

Lin Miao looked at the time; there were still seven or eight hours before the players log off. Time was aplenty.

"I'm here to fight the Night Wanderers today; inviting the Sixth Street Gang to watch was just incidental."

"What!"

Reyes opened his mouth wide, damn it, such a big thing yet he wasn't informed. Here he was talking to people about this being an equipment demonstration.

Turns out the equipment demonstration was just incidental?

"You guys, a group of twenty against over a hundred, are you crazy?"

"Who told you we only had about twenty people?"

"I'm telling you the truth, it's not 20 versus 100, it's 100 versus 300, besides me, there's Adcardo from the entire Evil Land."

......

The company's dogs' offensive at the front was slowly blocked due to the Night Wanderers' gathering and counterattack.

This also brought some relief to the still-shocked Mayer.

As these company dogs crazily paved the way with rockets, casualties were secondary; countless containers and vehicles were bombed along the way.

You've messed up terribly after this battle is over.

"Damn, just wait. Once my reinforcements arrive, I'll skin you alive!"

He had already sent people to take alternate routes through other tunnels in Stone Ridge Mountain, preparing for encirclement to trap all the company's dogs in the tunnel.

Mayer felt he had a talent for tactical command, but unfortunately, this Night Wanderer gang limited his abilities.

Yet as he was celebrating, a dusty Night Wanderer scrambled into the room, stumbling and kneeling at Mayer's feet.

Holding onto his leg, speaking in breathless gasps,

"Bad... things are bad... things are bad..."

Mayer remembered this guy was one of the people he sent for the flanking route.

Suddenly alarms went off in his mind, grabbing the guy by his collar and pulling him up.

"What happened? Quickly, tell me!"

"There's... a group of mercenaries blasting our secret paths. Several have been blasted; some didn't make it out, buried in rocks with their cars and all."

Mayer's mind exploded with shock, hurriedly asking,

"What about the tunnel exit? You can use the tunnel exit!"

"There are people there too! Adcardo brought many people, and that Dakota woman has blasted our tunnel's sentry posts and minefields. An estimated hundred or so are blocking the exit, brutally attacking our brothers; even armored vehicles can't charge out, all blown up by their infantry guns and rocket launchers..."

"Other reinforcements from nearby also got blocked outside by these Adcardo folks and couldn't get inside...."

Mayer staggered back onto the sofa, his whole body almost fainting.

Actually, there were even more unfortunate subordinates not mentioned.

Because Night Wanderer outposts came to support in twos and threes, they faced Adcardo who vastly outnumbered them, making them like moths to a flame, dying silently.

Clearly outnumbering Adcardo, yet overwhelmed by them, turning into a situation of the many fighting the few, blocked at the tunnel entrance.

Even due to Mayer's guesses, some Night Wanderers opened a third battlefield, tangled outside with some military technology outposts, further scattering their already struggling forces.

"Damn damn damn!"

After cursing thrice, Mayer grabbed a bottle of liquor from the table and chugged it down, hoping to calm himself.

He had to think of a solution, or they'd all perish here today.

"Where's that guy Winston?"

"He's been out of contact for a while, seems like he didn't escape, trapped by those company dogs in the meat storage."

"Then get Raymond... to lure those company dogs to the central warehouse area, use that tank to blast these bastards to hell!"
