Chapter 52 Practical Performance_2
The Night Wanderers have all mobilized.
"What's going on?"
"It seems like someone broke in!"
"What about the surveillance? And the guards outside, why is there no movement at all?"
"It may be a hacker!"
"Quick, go find Li Ye and them, tell them to catch that hacker!"
…
Kicking the corpse lying on the ground, the Egyptian Beauty was overwhelmed by the alarm sound in her ears, and only calmed down after shooting the siren to pieces.
"Damn it, now everyone knows, you're useless, Brother Ni, for letting him trigger the alarm."
Brother Ni also angrily pulled out the crossbow bolt from the neck of the corpse.
"He was leaning against the carriage the whole time, I didn't even get a chance to peek."
"It must be a scripted event, reaching this point in the game is sure to expose us."
Brother Ni's explanation didn't garner understanding from other stealth team members, even though he was the only Level 5 stealth player among the three.
Rainy Night Without a Knife: "Skill level is skill level, alright? Even your level 5 isn't cutting it."
Egyptian Beauty: "What's the use of saying that, hurry up and call people in, the monster hordes are about to come, and after this wave, we might have enough to buy exoskeletons."
"I used it last time, it's unbelievably awesome, you can plow through minor enemies."
Within ten seconds of their conversation, several Night Wanderers rushed out of the tunnel ahead, wielding submachine guns, and began shooting at Brother Ni and his team.
Bullets riddled the container with holes, forcing the three players to quickly hide behind the carriage.
Brother Ni: "Damn it, so fast, I thought as long as we didn't move forward, we wouldn't trigger them."
Egyptian Beauty: "Hurry, more and more are coming!."
Just listening to the increasingly dense footsteps and gunfire, the three knew their enemy numbers had grown to over a dozen.
But despite them calling out, the main force couldn't get in for the moment.
To prevent the sentries from raising an alert early, Lucy had to lead the stealth team to sneak in bit by bit, while the other players were at a distance.
But Lucy just went to manage the surveillance system, leaving the three to infiltrate on their own, resulting in an unexpected mishap, taking one down only to be discovered by another.
The three were pinned down by the Night Wanderers' gunfire, unable to even lift their heads, not daring to peek out of the carriage, as peeking would surely be fatal.
At this moment, Lucy's voice suddenly buzzed through their channel
"I'm about to hack them, three seconds, use the gap to counterattack."
This was music to Brother Ni and his team's ears.
"Wow, hackers are awesome! Is it too late to change jobs now?"
"Hacker? More like the boss lady! Long live the boss lady!"
Brother Ni immediately pulled out a large crossbow bolt attached to his thigh, took off the safety cap, and mounted it on the crossbow.
"Let's try the big baby first."
The front end of the bolt had no arrowhead, but an aluminum cylinder about one and a half fingers thick.
In his mind, he counted one, two, three.
The gunfire indeed slackened, with several Night Wanderers' heads sparking with electricity, short-circuiting their cyber components, allowing the three to pop out and counterattack.
Brother Ni charged out with his arm-length crossbow, yelling loudly
"Sewer barbecue! Get yours now!"
He pulled the trigger, and the bolt fired out in response.
The sturdy arrowhead hit the wall near several Night Wanderers, and the fuse on the arrowhead immediately ignited.
Blinding flashes and shockwaves instantly engulfed the nearby Night Wanderers, hurling them against the wall, their fate unknown.
The other two also had crossbows, but explosive bolts were too damn expensive, 120 each, even on discount they cost 60, almost the price of grenades, but not as powerful as fragmentation grenades, so they didn't bother buying them from Brother Ni and his team.
Now they could only pull out submachine guns and engage in a shootout with the Night Wanderers, but to no avail, only injuring one or two.
Not because of bad aim, but because they had a poor angle; the Night Wanderers had taken cover behind obstacles, only able to suppress with firepower.
At this moment, a hulking man slammed open the door, wielding a massive shotgun and charging out
"Where do these mongrels come from, daring to mess around on our turf."
Boom!
A shot fired, sending splinters and metal shards flying, and if he hadn't ducked quickly, Brother Ni would have been riddled like a sieve.
Even so, Brother Ni's face got grazed by fragments, tearing off a large piece of flesh, bleeding profusely, even exposing his gums.
The shotgun's noise and recoil were outrageously large, clearly bespoke with strong gunpowder.
He single-handedly drove Brother Ni and his team back.
Rainy Night Without a Knife: "Boss lady, help, we can't hold on!"
Though they called sweetly, Lucy was also overwhelmed, being entangled by the Night Wanderers' hackers, and it wasn't just one, forcing her to grit her teeth and say
"If you can't manage, retreat for now… reinforcements will come soon."
Without a system protocol triggered by a lethal threat, Lucy didn't want to gamble her life on it.
Winston was almost amused by anger, especially seeing Brother Ni wearing that uniform.
Recently, that outfit gave the Night Wanderers more of an impression than military tech did.
More bizarre, they didn't go looking for these company lackeys, instead, these lackeys came knocking.
"Bloody hell, just four people making it this far, what on earth were the guards doing, eating idly?"
"Here to deliver their own deaths?"
Boom!
Another shot.
Pinned Brother Ni, who wanted to send another explosive bolt, back down.
Winston bared a mouthful of sharp teeth, his breath tinged with a fishy wind
"Capture those three alive for me, I'm gonna skin them and make a sofa!"
