Chapter 7: Fireworks and bad roommates
Jason never sleeping with Crazy Dave in his home ever again, not at least not without ear muffs. Jason is almost amazed on how one man could be so fucking loud, from the frog orchestra to the sound of literal construction going on throughout the night.
Of course Jason went to Crazy Dave to tell him to be more quiet in the most polite possible.
-hours earlier last night-
"Crazy Dave please SHUT THE FUCK UP-"
-present time-
There was polite understanding, so you must be wondering why Crazy Dave was so loud last night that even the plants couldn't sleep? Simply put Crazy Dave in all his Crazy smarts decided to modify Jason house a bit, in one night.
Jason doesn't understand it either on how Crazy Dave could achieve so much in one night with minimal tools. There was a green house connected to the garage for where other plants to call home to rest in when there was no more room in the house to sleep in.
Additionally there was a lot of pots filled with dirt in the green house, there was a chimney that was bigger than before. The house overall was a big bigger but there wasn't really much change in terms of cosmetic. The house looked the same other than one thing that was change for better or worse.
Which was now, Jason and crazy Dave looking at the backyard pool. Staring at the water as Jason slowly looks at Crazy Dave with exasperation. "Why….why? What compelled you to do this, do any of this? Why is the pool DEEPER?! I can't see the fucking bottom of the pool! How did you even do that?! WHY?! HOW?!"
Jason shouted out looking at Crazy Dave who was loudly sipping lemonade through a straw. The pool in question that was once 12feet deep, was so deep now that Jason couldn't accurately guess how deep it was. The pool was so deep that light did not reach the bottom.
It was so deep people with the fear of deep water would not swim in it. That was how deep the pool was now. Jason was already uncomfortable at the thought of swimming in the previous pool depths, now he wasn't for sure swimming inside that pool.
Jason doesn't have a fear of deep water, but a pool should not be that deep where light doesn't reach the bottom. It's unnatural, Jason was a decent swimmer but he was not HIM level type swimmer. He wasn't the type of swimmer who could hold their breath under water for fifteen minutes.
In response to Jason multiple questions Crazy Dave just shrugs and kept on sipping his lemonade. Crazy Dave doesn't even remember making the pool deeper but he probably did during one of his bouts of sudden crayz ness.
Seeing a lack of response Jason sighs and rubs his face and simply walks away to the front lawn. "Forget it, don't question it. He's crazy Jason. You got stuff to do" he said out while passing a Sunflower who passed out in the hamper full of clean clothes.
Jason plants was beyond tired, all the loud noise from last night kept them up with Jason who he himself was used to staying up with little to no sleep which they wasn't. So Jason most definitely benching all his Sunflowers and peashooters.
His peashooters was already having trouble with aim due to lack of shooting experience, their aim would be bad most likely with little sleep and he was not risking it. The sunflowers sun production would be hampered as well and didn't want to risk them either.
Good news was his new plants on the lawn was all grown, his repeaters, snow peas, chompers, wall nuts and potatoe mines was all grown and ready for action. Which they all seemed quite eager to meet him.
With no zombies in sight Jason of course gave them some attention, playing with them by giving them love and attention with pets. The chompers was the most affectionate plant so far rivaling the sunflowers.
They was like excitable dogs, which he suppose fits. The snow peas was of course very cold upon touch , making it difficult to physically interact with them but the potatoe mines Jason worried about touching them in the slightest.
After all it had mine in its name, the potatoe mines acted like literal landmines and blew up when stepped on. It didn't seem like a good idea to test if friendly fire existed so Jason didn't touch them in the slightest but he did give them his attention.
All in all today was beginning to look like a nice day, though he knew a zombie attack was coming. And he felt decently prepared, trusty shovel in one hand. Repeaters and ice peas with walnuts acting in front line defense.
Potatoe mines to soften up the zombie attack and chompers behind the walnuts to help also protect them. Though if all of that wasn't enough Jason would call upon his resting plants inside the house to come aid in the lawn defense.
Last resort was retreating back into the house and wait for the zombies to breach it, and gradually wear down the attack leading the zombies slowly to the backyard of the house where the pool was. He was certain the zombies if not most of them couldn't swim without swimming gear.
The finale last resort was just abandonding the house all together, the house maybe a permanent home but Jason and his plants lives was temporary and he would like to keep himself and his plants alive as long as possible.
Like a wise giant robot dorito said 'sometimes the coward does survive', with some time spent with the new plants Jason would use his other free time to move the wallnuts infront of back line plants, it was a decent line of wallnuts acting like body shields from one end to the other.
There was a decent gap as well, on front of the lawn there was a minefield of potato mines. Behind that was what Jason will consider the safe zone to walk and behind it a wall of wallnuts protecting the range plants behind it.
"So far this defense is looking good, and a perfect opportunity to test it out as well" Jason said grabbing his shovel, he had no available sunflower at the moment. Having not planting any new ones due to wanting to save up the restock of plants he gotten from crazy Dave.
He was going to have to be careful, just as a few zombies started shuffling their way towards the lawn across the street. The plants was going to fire upon them until they was blown up by a single cherry bomb that was flung from above coming from the second story window of Jason house.
Of course it was Crazy Dave who threw the cherry bomb, but he did something unique. He split one cherry bomb off from the other. It doesn't look distressed by the act, which made Jason curious on why Crazy Dave would deliberately weaken the explosive power of the cherry bomb.
That's the largest wave Jason has ever seen yet, two flag zombies walking side by side with a equally large hoard besides them, bunch up and walking slowly onto the lawn. Jason would've felt intimidated if it wasn't for fireworks that happened next.
One zombie took another step forward and stepped on a potatoe mine and promptly blew up with all the zombies around him with a boom. It wasn't ear deafening but it was still loud, the explosion was weaker in size compared to the cherry bomb but it still took out a decent amount of zombies.
The explosive also didn't trigger the other potatoe mines as more went off each time a zombie stepped on one, it was like a chain reaction of zombie groups blew up on after another destroying completely the lower half of the zombies and launching them flying in different direction.
The lawn was getting ruined by each potatoe mine going off, but it was totally worth it in Jason opinion. As watching the multiple explosions go off Crazy Dave and plants inside the house was eating popcorn watching it all.
It only took a few moments, the ice peas and repeaters didn't even have a chance to fire. Nor did the chompers had the chance to eat some zombies. But all of the zombies was dead before they reached the last row of potatoe mines.
"Once I found the way to mass produce potatoe mines I am going to abuse the hell out of them. No spot of grass shall be safe for a zombie, if they know fear they shall fear it when the floor starts speaking."
Jason declared staring upon his lawn, the front being the closest to the side walk ruined with mangled zombie body parts and broken traffic cones littered around. Jason let's out a sigh while rubbing his eyes in some annoyance, it was going to take a bit of time to repair the lawn to make it look nice again.
"Yeah….should've expected as much with a plant that explodes. I'm definitely going to have to be careful with Doom shroom." He said to himself as he got to work on fixing up the front lawn after making sure the coast is clear.
At the same time the plants on the lawn was helping him clean up as well, the chompers was like a walking garbage can eating all the zombie parts they could get their mouths onto. Which was fine with Jason, saves him less effort to bury them all.
Once the clean up was done everything was looking good for the lawn, except for the missing grass but it'll grow back eventually in due time. It hasn't been that long in the day yet but he was starting to feel tired from the lack of sleep, he trusted the plants to defend the lawn.
It was a decent defense that could stall, there was also a decent amount of potatoe mines left as well which the explosion shoukd alert Jason out of his nap. "A nap shouldn't hurt, Dave should be fine to let in charge. Hopefully"
Jason muttered to himself, going inside his home and plopped down onto his couch face first. It didn't take long for him to start getting lulled into a sleep. All the whole crazy Dave simply kept eating popcorn and drinking lemonade.
-POV GREG the zombie-
Well, that was not what I expected. Damn and that was a good plan too, I wasn't expecting the boss hated enemy to be here. This might change everything. I have to tell him straight away. I might even get promoted and be able to share brainz with Phill.
Now only if it wouldn't take so long to reach the boss, he's still at his hated enemy lawn trying to breach the house I'm sure. With a sigh I would begin to make my walk, while also making sure to grab Phill sleeve to make sure he'll follow.
It was going to be a long walk.
-two hours later back to our protagonist-
Once Jason was all rested from his nap, he decided it was time to do something that needed to be done since he and his plants had free time. It was training time, he needed his plants accuracy to be much better than it currently was since it was a matter of life and death.
He himself also needed some training, he was your average gamer introvert. He wasn't very active before being transported here, he knew he needed stamina and strength. Now he knows he can't out power a gargantuar zombie. Or even a Allstar but at least he should train to be able to easily shove Brown coat zombies around with ease and not feel like he ran a marathon.
So that's what he planned to do, get himself into better shape and help his plants with their aim. To get a good start, he grabbed some paint cans with a brush and started drawing a target on the wooden fence so his plants can have something to practice their aim on.
Once he was done drawing multiple targets on the wooden fence he would step back to admire his handy work.
He didn't know it but things was going to pick up for the worse, the conflict between Zomboss and Crazy Dave growing bigger until it becomes all out warfare…..
