Chapter 527 - 527: Getting Married

Chapter 527: Chapter 527: Getting Married

The grand imperial palace shone even more resplendently in the glow of the setting sun, each piece of stone bathed in a soft golden hue, as if it were the dwelling place of ancient Deities.

In the Central Heavenly Palace, a wedding was being held. Despite the grandeur of the vast halls, adorned with gold and resplendent splendor, the ceremony itself was so simple, attended by only a handful of people.

The couple at the center of it all was Shi Hao and Fairy Yue Chan, with their parents Shi Ziling and Qin Yining, and an indifferent-looking brother, Qin Hao. Beyond them, there were only two other guests, Peng Jiu and the War King.

This was a significant event—the chaste fairy of the Heaven Mending Sect marrying someone could incite the younger generation of the Fashi Nation to crusade against this “witch” if the news got out.

Yue Chan was renowned, aloof and detached from the world, never tainted by worldly dust. She always held herself above the fray, sacred in the hearts of many, known as the supreme fairy among mortals.

Moreover, the Heaven Mending Sect had been immortal since ancient times, a powerful force with a lineage from the higher realms. Their Saintess was never allowed to marry; it was a taboo.

Unbeknownst to the world, someone was breaking this taboo on this evening, wedding the exquisite fairy in the eyes of the populace, within the confines of the imperial palace.

“Pay respects to heaven and earth, bow twice to the high hall…”

The War King served as the officiant for the wedding, while Peng Jiu was in charge of various miscellaneous tasks, such as preparing the banquet and drinks, all personally arranged by him.

“Yue Chan comes from the higher realms, and as far as I know, her noble status is beyond words. Hao’er, you must cherish her, do not let her down. I think naming her as the Imperial Consort is fitting, in line with her standing,” Qin Yining advised.

At that moment, the struggle between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law persisted.

“I do not recognize this wedding!” Yue Chan said, her alabaster chin lifted high with pride as she gave the evil Saintess before her a sidelong glance.

“Do you still hope to become the empress? Absolutely not!” Qin Yining declared.

It was most uncomfortable for the War King and Peng Jiu, having been roped into this situation and thus witnessing the battle between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. It was inappropriate to say anything, and both felt ill at ease just being there.

Stars twinkled above, and the wedding lasted no short while. Primarily, this was due to the intense conflict of two generations of Saintesses, with the men consciously keeping their mouths shut and drinking instead.

“Hao’er, take your wife to the bridal chamber; I want you to give me a grandchild soon!” Clearly, Qin Yining had just endured another Pyrrhic victory.

Similarly, Fairy Yue Chan looked pale after their heated exchange. What truly frightened her was when the critical moment arrived; her face turned ghostly white.

“Fairy Qin, I apologize to you, let’s end all this,” Yue Chan conceded.

Qin Yining revealed a satisfied smile, nodded her head, and then addressed Shi Hao, “Hao’er, why don’t you take your wife away quickly!”

“Fairy Qin, are you not afraid of being held accountable by my Heaven Mending Sect once you enter the higher realms?” Yue Chan’s countenance dramatically changed.

“Not afraid. By then, they will surely be delighted to gain a grandchild of such unmatched talent,” Qin Yining smiled.

Candlelight flickered, big red lanterns hung outside, and the bridal chamber was filled with jubilation. However, the great hall was too silent; at this moment, there was only the couple, with no maids to attend.

Once in the bridal chamber, Fairy Yue Chan struggled to find peace, truly frightened, sitting there on guard.

“Alas, what melancholy!” Shi Hao sat by the Jade Stone Table, drinking alone, muttering to himself.

Yue Chan pricked up her ears, listening carefully, feeling both tense and perplexed as she observed Little Stone.

“Shi Dazhuang, Er Meng, and the monkeys’ children must be running around by now. Is it finally my turn? But how do I have time to care for a bunch of little ones?” Shi Hao murmured softly.

Yue Chan’s hair stood on end; her luminous skin developed goosebumps. What nonsense was this scoundrel talking about? Having a bunch of little ones…

She felt a chill run down her spine. As a chaste fairy, it wasn’t about having children; even spending the night here felt like a profanity, worse than death.

Thinking of that dreadful scenario, Fairy Yue Chan shuddered violently, her earlier composure and poise abandoned, now replaced by waves of cold.

“Yue Chan, come have a drink. We have to obey my mother’s command soon,” Shi Hao called out.

“What… what command?” Fairy Yue Chan’s speech faltered, deeply distraught for the first time in her life, a profound fear in her voice.

“She said we should have children soon, not just one, but at least three,” Shi Hao said.

Yue Chan’s eyes widened, and she involuntarily stepped back, gasping in shock. Was this evil Saintess’s hateful retaliation? She was resolute in her resistance!

“Why are you silent?” Shi Hao inquired.

“Who… who wants to bear your children? Go find someone else!” Yue Chan retorted, her face smooth as jade yet paler than ever.

“I have married you, why should I look to another?” Shi Hao responded, showing a hint of surprise.

“You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? You’re deliberately scaring me?” Yue Chan regained some composure and came to a conclusion, speaking out.

“On a happy day like today, why would I scare you? The Immortal Fairy, above all things sullied, how could she think such things?” Shi Hao laughed, gesturing for Yue Chan to come over and drink with him, to have their Luminous Cup together.

Naturally, Yue Chan was unwilling, turning her head away and sitting motionless by the bed, ignoring him.

“Hey, Fairy, do you like the bed that much? What does it matter if you move a little?” Shi Hao asked.

Upon hearing this, Fairy Yue Chan’s face flushed with anger as she retorted, “What nonsense are you spouting? Who likes the bed that much? If I could, I’d leave immediately.”

“If you’re unwilling to come over, then I’ll come by the bed to keep you company,” Shi Hao said with a brilliant smile.

Yet to Fairy Yue Chan, this all seemed particularly terrifying as if a great demon was approaching. She felt the hairs on her body stand on end and promptly stood up, saying, “Don’t you move, I… I’ll come over!”

Moonlight poured in like water through the window as the two of them drank together. The Luminous Cup emitted a luminescent halo, and together with the bright moonlight, their features were cast in a soft, gentle light.

“My child’s mother…” Shi Hao had barely started speaking when he was interrupted.

Fairy Yue Chan couldn’t stand it any longer—what an outrageous way to address her. Not to mention she hadn’t acknowledged it; even if she had agreed to the wedding, he couldn’t just call her that so directly.

“Wife…” Shi Hao tried another term of endearment, but when he saw she remained unresponsive and on guard, he couldn’t help but laugh, saying, “The deities of the Heaven Mending Sect have always been revered by the world, slaying demons and vanquishing evils, reigning supreme over millions of miles and looking down on the eight regions. Yet why are you so nervous in this small bridal chamber?”

She was the butt of his jest and still as tense as ever, really wanting to punch him!

“Little Stone, let’s calm down and sit to discuss some matters,” Fairy Yue Chan adjusted her breathing and forced herself to calm down, then spoke.

“I’ve always been calm; it’s you who’s nervous. But I’m quite touched, really; I didn’t realize I was that important in your heart, to make you care so much,” Shi Hao said with a shamelessly thick skin.

“Please be serious. What I want to discuss is very important,” said Fairy Yue Chan.

Shi Hao immediately became solemn and looked at her earnestly, saying, “We truly need to have three children. My mother instructed me so for the first time upon her return, and I can’t disappoint her.”

“Three?!” Fairy Yue Chan screamed.

“Well then… let’s make it two. I’ll decide this myself; I guess it can’t be any fewer!” said Shi Hao gravely.

“You… what are you talking about? Who’s going to have children with you? That’s not what I want to talk about—stop changing the subject!” Fairy Yue Chan lost her temper, her face flushed with anger, convinced that this guy was doing it on purpose.

“Isn’t it you who’s going to have children with me? Wife, you don’t have health issues, do you? No worries, I have the Golden Liquid here that can cure you,” Shi Hao made light of the subject.

“You…” Fairy Yue Chan turned her head away in frustration.

“You are my wife; of course, it’s with me that you’ll have children,” Shi Hao said, having somehow already taken one of her hands. It glistened white and translucent under the moonlight, as beautiful as jade, delicate and slender.

Fairy Yue Chan’s cultivation was sealed, her Primordial Spirit suppressed, and her Divine Sense severely diminished—she hadn’t seen clearly how Shi Hao made his move before he was already holding her jade-like hand.

She hurriedly pulled away, her expression changing, her flawless face filled with unease and complexity, feeling like there was no escape today.

“Shi Hao, it’s not impossible for me to marry you,” she bit down on her silver teeth, suddenly spouting these words, which genuinely surprised Shi Hao.

“Are you serious?” He had never really believed that Fairy Yue Chan would be compliant and gentle from the start—it was definitely a process filled with struggle, something that would take time to resolve.

“Of course, as long as you agree to one condition,” Fairy Yue Chan said, exceptionally beautiful under the moonlight, with a layer of silvery radiance falling on her, making her appear otherworldly and stunning.

“No deal!” Shi Hao firmly refused, without even thinking. He knew whatever the condition was, it would be stringent. Besides, why did he need to agree to any conditions?

“Won’t you even listen to it? It’s harmless to you and could even be a good thing,” Fairy Yue Chan said, her voice calm.

“I don’t believe you.” Shi Hao shook his head, drained his cup of wine, stood up, and said, “Wife, the night is deep, it’s time we rested.”

Fairy Yue Chan’s heart pounded uncontrollably, she couldn’t calm down, and it was apparent that a fresh crop of goosebumps had formed on her skin as she said with great tension, “What I wanted to tell you was how to capture the witch.”

“Eh? Is that the condition?” Shi Hao’s eyes sparkled with surprise.

“As long as you capture the witch and make her stay in the imperial palace too, I will acknowledge today’s wedding,” said Fairy Yue Chan, her beautiful eyes shining brilliantly, her luscious red lips glistening under the moonlight.

Shi Hao smiled; how much must the witch be hated, for Fairy Yue Chan to make such a firm decision as a condition, wanting him to capture her.

Both women were indeed rivals, having reached this point of heaven and earth, Fairy Yue Chan still fixated on dragging down the witch, wanting to ‘share weal and woe.’

“How do we capture her?” Shi Hao asked with a smile.

“Have you agreed?” Fairy Yue Chan’s eyes flickered with light; naturally, she hoped to buy time.

“No deal, but I am still interested in capturing a witch. You know, in your sea of consciousness, she wanted to suppress me alongside you,” Shi Hao said.

“You’re not sincere,” Fairy Yue Chan turned away, her jet-black hair cascading down, her dress fluttering in the night breeze that blew in, outlining her figure with infinite charm.

“I am sincere. We are husband and wife; you loathe the witch, so now let’s discuss how we can suppress her together, isn’t that great?” Shi Hao said, his teeth flashing bright white with his smile.

Turning back to look at him, Fairy Yue Chan’s beautiful eyes danced before she glared at him, remaining silent.

“Wife, it doesn’t matter if we disagree today; we can discuss it again tomorrow. For now, let’s go to rest,” Shi Hao said, his smile radiant.
