Chapter 526 - 526: The Great Battle Between Mother-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law

Chapter 526: Chapter 526: The Great Battle Between Mother-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law

Fairy Yue Chan’s fair face, originally adorned with a sweet smile, became slightly agape, her ruby-red lips parted in surprise, her beautiful eyes widened in shock, her expression frozen in place.

“Why would this happen?” Even with her astuteness, she was stunned at this moment, never expecting to hear such words.

Just now, she had deliberately made an effort to befriend, performed exceptionally well, and got on extremely well with Qin Yining, the two seemingly hitting it off instantly. They had become very close, and with the relationship between their schools being amicable, she thought she could use this to escape her dilemma.

But the result was completely beyond her expectations!

Shi Hao came to his senses, realizing his mother really had the demeanor of a senior saintess, wasn’t this bullying the “newcomer”? He appeared very honest, nodding and saying, “Mother, don’t worry.”

“Mm, I’m very assured.” Qin Yining said with a smile.

Fairy Yue Chan snapped out of her daze, her beautiful eyes blinked rapidly, her delicate nose wrinkled slightly, almost blurting out that this was not the case, that she was not assured!

With her ethereal beauty and unparalleled charm, she had just been beaming with smiles, engaged in delightful conversation with Qin Yining; she was still holding onto the arm of this senior saintess.

“Senior, you misunderstood,” Fairy Yue Chan’s brows furrowed slightly.

Qin Yining, with a pleasant face, looked at her, praising, “Bright and spiritual, with an immortal’s grace and jade-like bones, and so empathetic. We get along so well, I’ve always wanted a daughter like you, and today I’m finally satisfied.”

“Saintess, then let me be your goddaughter,” Fairy Yue Chan quickly said, her sweet smile returning to her face.

“Alright, once you marry Hao’er, you’ll be like my own daughter,” Qin Yining said with a smile.

Fairy Yue Chan really started gritting her teeth, having been accommodating and deliberately conversing to create a very harmonious and cordial atmosphere, only for the senior saintess from Immortal Mountain to steer it in a different direction with a few words.

This was the first time she felt that saintesses were not “easy to deal with,” especially the veteran saintesses, who were even more cunning.

“Senior, Shi Hao and I have nothing between us, you’ve misunderstood, actually it’s like this…” She was eloquent, quickly organizing her words and clarifying her situation seriously.

Qin Hao had been watching from the side, somewhat surprised, then hearing about how his brother behaved, forcefully taking a saintess, was immediately astonished and disdainful.

This time, Shi Hao didn’t hold back, asserting his authority as an older brother, and knocked on his head, saying, “You believe what the enemy says?”

Qin Hao didn’t really believe it either, he was just irked and disdainfully cynical.

“Senior, our schools have always been on friendly terms, even if Shi Hao and I have some misunderstandings, it shouldn’t trap me here and affect the relationship between the Heaven Mending Sect and the Immortal Mountain,” Fairy Yue Chan went on to say.

“Don’t worry, I’ll make the decision for you,” Qin Yining reassured and put her at ease.

Fairy Yue Chan behaved very gently, such shallow smiles and leaning postures, which she would never display usually, could be said to be quite different from her typically pure and otherworldly demeanor.

Qin Yining said, “Hao’er, this is your fault. How can you let Fairy Yue Chan suffer grievances? No matter what, you shouldn’t suppress her. She is someone to accompany you for life, you should treasure her.”

Fairy Yue Chan couldn’t smile anymore, feeling somewhat frantic; she completely recognized that this senior saintess was sly and stubborn, and definitely a good mother, but in Fairy Yue Chan’s eyes, rather hateful.

Shi Ziling coughed lightly from the side, reminding his wife.

Qin Yining, however, smiled sweetly and seemed unconcerned.

“Isn’t there going to be an issue?” Shi Ziling asked with a frown, communicating telepathically.

Qin Yining replied seriously, “She was the one who acted against Hao’er, therefore he captured her. It’s not Hao’er’s fault.”

“But isn’t this marriage a bit hasty?” Shi Ziling asked.

Qin Yining responded thoughtfully, “Hao’er has turned the Immortal Mountain upside down, drawing a big disaster. And Fairy Yue Chan, with her extraordinary status, was born amidst a spectacle of wonders in the Heaven Mending Sect, dazzling the world, and behind her stands an invincible adult. Perhaps, an alliance with the Heaven Mending Sect could reverse Hao’er’s unfavorable situation and dissolve potential calamities.”

The couple communicated mind-to-mind, not speaking these words openly.

“Fairy Qin, as a saintess yourself, haven’t you considered my feelings at all? How can you be like this?” At this stage, Fairy Yue Chan no longer hesitated to voice out, forsaking her smile for a more indifferent approach.

“Ah, could this be the first battle between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law?” Qin Yining laughed, utterly unconcerned, appearing very composed, “What about a saintess? I was married too, and it happened in the Lower Realm. What kind of example do you expect me to set for you?”

Fairy Yue Chan struggled to calm herself, being a saintess herself, she never expected to be confronted this way.

“The Heaven Mending Sect in the higher realms would never agree,” she said calmly, not saying much, but the hint was clear enough; the Heaven Mending Sect of the higher realms was a colossal entity, and with her mysterious background, Qin Yining should have heard something.

“Why wouldn’t they agree? I know that there’s a precedent for saintesses of the Heaven Mending Sect in the upper realms to marry,” Qin Yining said with indifference, praising her eldest son, “My Hao’er is no less than those ‘chosen’ and ‘primordials’ of the higher realms, worthy of a fairy from the Heaven Mending Sect. Even with many love rivals, how could they be a match for those who attain the moon near the water tower first?”

Shi Hao zoned out, his gaze peculiar, discovering for the first time how formidable his mother could be to speak such words; even with his thick skin, he felt somewhat uncomfortable.

“Fairy, do you know that sometimes a slightly flawed decision can lead to irreversible consequences. Neither Immortal Mountain nor the Heaven Mending Sect can afford such a battle!” Fairy Yue Chan replied, regaining her composure, her body glowing with a luminous and transcendent presence, calmly detailing all of this.

“I don’t think so. A marriage between two great schools will be a grand affair, destined to make the Heaven Mending Sect and Immortal Mountain stronger,” Qin Yining stated nonchalantly.

“Fairy Qin Yining, you’re too optimistic. Things will turn out completely opposite to what you think. The flap of a butterfly’s wings can cause a tsunami, an ant’s digging can cause an earthquake. All the more for such major events, this battle could affect the entire upper realm!” Fairy Yue Chan spoke out, directly addressing her by name, and growing increasingly impolite.

“Being a butterfly, one should just dance gracefully, and if an ant, relish the joy of digging. A woman should be happy; worrying too much causes premature aging. Fairy Yue Chan, you’re overthinking it. You just need to be one half of that butterfly couple.” Qin Yining responded with a smile, her thoughts seemed rather free-spirited.

Fairy Yue Chan met her gaze, her beautiful face demonstrating a trace of indifference, “Are you the butterfly, senior, or are you the ant?”

It was truly like a battle, more precisely, the first confrontation between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, neither giving an inch, with sharp words and a verbal fencing match.

Shi Hao was astonished; was his mother really this formidable? Shi Ziling remained silent, while Qin Hao found it all very surprising, watching the battle with great interest.

Fairy Yue Chan had lost her temper too. With her sharp tongue and eloquence, she was quite the talker, here her words bloomed like lotuses; she even began to indirectly satirize Qin Yining, truly treating it as a battle.

Alas, as a former Saintess, Qin Yining was utterly calm, letting her words cut like swords, until finally she said, “No matter what magical spells or Divine Skills you use, I only have one question, will you marry him or not?”

Fairy Yue Chan stood resplendent, her purity like the bright moon, holy and flawless, but even she was at a loss for words now, asking, “Do you really want to be known as an evil Saintess?”

“You’re wrong, I want to be the evil mother-in-law—but that’s only temporary. If you truly love my infant, later on I will treat you as my own daughter. Now, get a move on and give me a grandchild.”

Unable to win, Fairy Yue Chan covered her face and retreated, her grace fallen into disarray; this battle was nearing its end.

“Saintess Qin Yining, do you really want to be evil?” She still questioned unwillingly.

By this point, Qin Yining no longer hid her intentions, saying, “You plotted against my infant’s Stone Country previously and even besieged him; you brought this upon yourself.”

“Do you think I’d be willing to be your daughter-in-law?” Fairy Yue Chan asked loudly, an ethereal beauty aloof from worldly dust, truly indignant at the previous generation’s saintess.

“Where is Peng Jiu?” Qin Yining inquired.

“Your humble servant is here!” The old imperial bodyguard, like a specter, appeared in the Central Heavenly Palace. He had observed all that had transpired and was very respectful toward the newly returned empress dowager.

“Prepare a feast to celebrate my infant’s marriage,” Qin Yining ordered; not only was Peng Jiu startled by the declaration, but even Shi Hao was taken aback. Was his mother being too impetuous?

Even Shi Ziling was speechless, sweating as he looked towards his wife.

“Such a woman of ethereal beauty should become my son’s wife. In such fine weather and good time, why waste it? Proceed with the marriage at once,” Qin Yining decided.

Shi Hao felt a drop of sweat trickle down; everything felt so strange. Was his mother angry? Despite her outward calm during Fairy Yue Chan’s verbal attack, he sensed that his mother must have taken the insults to heart—now came the retribution.

This was an extension of the previous battle that needed to be resolved.

“Mother, isn’t this a bit too hasty?” Shi Hao spoke up.

Upon hearing this, Fairy Yue Chan became intensely anxious, clearly frightened, her gaze flickering as she stealthily looked at Qin Yining.

“To avoid longer nights that breed more dreams, you’d better marry sooner rather than later,” Qin Yining said decisively.

“Mother, this seems somewhat like bullying Fairy Yue Chan; after all, she is the Saintess of the Heaven Mending Sect,” Qin Hao suddenly interjected.

“Thump!”

Qin Yining smacked him on the head, saying, “Forget ‘Fairy’ or ‘Saintess’, call her ‘sister-in-law’!”

Shi Ziling could see clearly, his wife was like cutting down a thousand enemies at the cost of eight hundred of her own—not only did she seem triumphant, but the sharp-tongued Fairy Yue Chan had also obviously upset her quite a bit.

Peng Jiu intervened at the right moment, advising, “Empress Dowager, Fairy Yue Chan’s capture is not known to the outside world. If you publicly hold this wedding, the consequences could be significant and cause many troubles.”

“Then we will keep it low-key, attended only by our family,” Qin Yining responded with a smile, sparing Fairy Yue Chan a glance but not relenting.

“Mother, you might not be aware, but she possesses a Second Body and has cultivated a mysterious ancient technique,” Shi Hao revealed.

Qin Yining was taken aback, having heard of such ancient methods. She couldn’t help but marvel at Fairy Yue Chan for having mastered it and exclaimed with astonishment. However, it was followed by shock as she said, “One of her is already so difficult to handle; if there were two in the future, how could I possibly contemn?”

In her expression was part genuine surprise and also an exaggeration, which irritated Fairy Yue Chan to the point of tingling teeth.

“We cannot delay any longer; the marriage must occur tonight!” Qin Yining proclaimed, taking Shi Ziling’s hand in what was purportedly a mutual parental decision.

In her words, one Fairy Yue Chan was formidable enough; if two were to join forces in the future mother-in-law and daughter-in-law battles, wouldn’t she be on the verge of defeat? It was essential to subdue one first.

Shi Hao was at a loss for words; he felt his mother must have been quite the witch in her youth, or else how could she be so whimsically “spirited” now?

“We need a child soon, to accompany us to the higher realms. I’m sure the Heaven Mending Sect will then recognize my Hao’er as a good son-in-law!” Qin Yining declared.

“So, you want me to learn from you?” Fairy Yue Chan couldn’t help but throw in another jab.

“That makes sense,” Qin Yining replied with a charitable smile, not taking offense. She turned to remind Shi Hao that she wanted a grandchild and it must happen soon.

At this point, Fairy Yue Chan truly became afraid, her complexion turning pale as snow.

Meanwhile, Peng Jiu received his orders and departed to prepare for the wedding.
