Percy Jackson - Godwyn the Golden

Chapter 26 - The Long-Awaited Moment (III)

Godwyn didn't know what had just happened, but he noticed that the battle between Hades and Zeus had ended. He presumed that the Three Virgin Goddesses had intervened and calmed the situation, but if he had known what had happened, he would be lamenting not being able to witness such a grand event. After all, it was a fight between gods; such a scene alone would be worthy of eclipsing all modern action movies.

Shaking his head, the Demigod smelled the monsters even from afar. It was such a large quantity that it made him narrow his eyes, showing a solemn look. He didn't have infinite energy like the gods. In a battle of attrition, he would definitely be consumed to death.

Taking four golden rings from his pocket, Godwyn handed one to each of the people present. "If I disappear, put on the fire rings and you will receive a message from me."

This ring had a message written on it, explaining that he would still be alive, after all, Godwyn was not cruel enough to fake his death to his friends. No one likes to be deceived, especially with such an important matter.

However, for his fake death to be credible, he couldn't talk about his plan or the gods would notice that perhaps he wasn't dead. But, with Hella by his side, the Norse gods and Odin would believe he was truly dead.

Luke, Thalia, Annabeth, and Grover looked at the golden rings with somber expressions. In their eyes, this was a farewell gift before dying.

"You won't die, Golden Boy." Thalia said with a determined tone. "I won't let that happen."

Godwyn smiled at the Princess of Olympus and spoke with an amused and enigmatic tone. "Don't worry too much, sometimes people have to die to be reborn."

After all, this was Godwyn's third life; he had already died twice, so his phrase was not exactly wrong. At least the part about him dying and being reborn was true.

However, in everyone's eyes, Godwyn was almost certain to die, which made the atmosphere tense. They looked at the boy who seemed relaxed and free with a mixture of admiration and anger.

Thalia clenched her fist and punched Godwyn's shoulder, something Annabeth did too, both girls looked at him with fierce eyes. "Shut that raven mouth." The Princess of Thunder said with a fierce and threatening tone.

Godwyn showed a pained look and rubbed the hit spot with a helpless smile. Why were all the women around him violent or murderous?

Frigg had told him to stay away from crazy and murderous women, as these women would only hurt his heart, but what could he do if he only attracted this type of woman?

But Godwyn had to admit, he liked to play with fire, especially with a beautiful woman.

-

"It started." Godwyn said and Luke stopped the car by the side of the road.

They couldn't continue by car; the monsters were so close that they could be heard very clearly.

Getting out of the car, Godwyn felt a familiar gaze fall upon him. The Nordic demigod's body paused for a moment before returning to normal. He looked at the sky and saw two ravens flying above him. Dark and with frightening red eyes.

"Hugin and Munin, thought and memory." Mimir said with a cold tone. "I always wanted to kill those damned mischievous ravens."

"Puck doesn't like mischief?" Godwyn said with an amused tone, remembering Mimir's identity in the Faerie Pantheon.

"I was young and foolish." Mimir said with a slightly embarrassed tone about his past. "I spent my days scaring mortals and gods, fortunately Queen Titania took me in and taught me the value of knowledge."

Godwyn nodded and spoke telepathically with Mimir. "Let's start the plan."

"Are you sure?"

"They will understand that it's all to bring down Odin."

"They will feel resentful and betrayed."

"I will kneel if they wish, if they still don't forgive me, I will give each one a promise of mine."

Mimir and Godwyn's conversation was telepathic; only they heard it. Seeing that he could no longer advise Godwyn, Mimir stopped talking and began to use his ancient powers from when he was Puck.

Lies and deceit.

A Divine Position that was still in his possession, showing that Oberon and Titania never removed him from the Pantheon. Every time he used these powers, Mimir couldn't help but show a gentle and warm look.

"What are you doing, Godwyn?" Annabeth asked with a tense tone, seeing him stop for a moment.

"It's nothing, little owl, I'm just thinking about something." Godwyn turned with a smile, but hid the guilt in his eyes. He really felt guilty for having to cause pain to such a small and innocent girl.

Whether Luke, Thalia, Annabeth, or Grover, they didn't realize that the Godwyn he was talking to was merely a projection made with Mimir's powers.

Godwyn's true body was back in the car, but no one, not even the gods, could see it.

If Odin had been personally present at the scene, he might have noticed something, as he was familiar with Loki's powers, but the Greek gods had no means to discover the truth at this moment.

Looking at the group moving away from him, Godwyn narrowed his eyes and, with Mimir's help, assumed the body's projection.

Godwyn, who was following the group, stiffened for a moment, but soon returned to walking normally.

Feeling his body weaker than usual, Godwyn didn't care, after all, it wasn't really his body. But he was impressed with this divine position. For conspirators, this divine position was like giving wings to a snake.

Looking at Odin's Ravens in the sky, Godwyn smiled, but his eyes couldn't be colder. He didn't hide his murderous intent, and the ravens definitely felt it.

Hugin and Munin looked at Odin's son and croaked, dissatisfied with the young prince's murderous intent.

"He's angry, Munin." Hugin said with a sarcastic tone full of contempt.

"He's just a demigod, after all." Munin replied with an even more sarcastic tone. "But he can't die in Greek territory."

"Let's go to the Greek Lord of the Underworld to inform him of the All-Father's request." Hugin also understood that it was the All-Father's will.

Both ravens flew at the same time towards the Underworld. They had to talk to Hades as soon as possible. If Godwyn were truly killed in Greek territory, the All-Father would be forced to declare war to maintain his honor.

After all, if a father doesn't avenge his son in Norse tradition, it's like saying he's incompetent, cowardly, and weak. How could a King of Gods accept such a thing happening to him?

-

Godwyn heard every word of the ravens with a cold expression. However, he looked at Thalia and, after hesitating for a moment, held her hand.

Thalia showed a confused expression, but felt Godwyn's finger slide over her palm. At first, she thought Godwyn was playing with her, relieving the tension, but feeling the trajectory of his fingers, she understood that he was giving her a message.

"I'm going to fake my death."

"I know you're full of doubts, but trust me."

"It's all for a future I want to come true."

Thalia was shocked by the amount of information she received, but looked directly into his eyes. Seeing that golden color she had come to admire tinged with surprising determination, she relaxed her tense body.

"I trust you."

Feeling Thalia's message, Godwyn had to admit he was moved. He felt confident in what was to come. At the same time, he was grateful that he had been able to trust Thalia at this moment.

This kind of trust is gained through decades of coexistence, but Thalia believed in him, a boy she had known for less than a week.

Godwyn himself didn't realize that such a thing was strange, because if he had really noticed Thalia's feelings, he would have understood what was happening. Love is truly selfish; people tend to believe everything the loved one says or does.

"What about Annabeth and the others?" Thalia asked again with a neutral expression, without alarming anyone that they were talking.

"After I fake my death, the ring will tell the truth." Godwyn wrote on her hand with an equally neutral expression.

Thalia still felt that Godwyn was being cruel to Annabeth, but knowing the boy's difficulties, she understood that there were many things involved at that moment.

"I know I'm being cruel, but I swear I won't hurt her." Godwyn also knew he was being cruel to the seven-year-old girl. Anyone could see that Annabeth had become deeply attached to him and considered him a true brother.

What is the pain of seeing your brother die in front of you?

Thinking about it, a trace of hesitation and guilt flashed in his eyes.

"Trust her, she's not as naive as you think." Seeing his look, Thalia wrote on Godwyn's hand with a smile, encouraging him.

Feeling Thalia's words, a determined look passed through Godwyn's eyes. Although it was risky, he really didn't want to hurt Annabeth. The girl was so young that she shouldn't feel the pain of losing her brother in front of her.

Holding Annabeth's hand, Godwyn began to explain the whole situation with a neutral expression.

The girl showed a confused look at first, but soon understood what was happening. Her eyes lit up for a moment, then she looked discreetly at Godwyn. She wrote "Yes" on his hand and looked forward again.

Godwyn sighed with relief seeing Annabeth's acting, showing that, as Thalia said, the girl was not as naive as she seemed, she just lacked experience.

"Odin, may you enjoy the conspiracy I prepared for you." Godwyn thought, showing a cold look.
