Chapter 182: Chapter 182

**Chapter 182: God is So Cruel**

Zhao Ling initially planned to stay on Poseidon Island with Bo Saixi for about a week. After all, she was stunningly beautiful, the most graceful among his current wives, and possessed an unparalleled temperament.

Having tasted the sweetness of life, how could Zhao Ling bear to part with such a remarkable wife?

But Bo Saixi didn't share his sentiments. The longer Zhao Ling stayed, the more trouble it caused her.

The moment she recovered, she coldly ordered him off the island, imposing a strict rule: Zhao Ling could only visit for three days each month.

Feeling rejected, Zhao Ling sulked. "Why don't my wives cherish me?" he lamented. On Blue Planet, the concubines of ancient Chinese emperors competed fiercely for their husband's favor, yet his wives treated him like a plague.

If it weren't for Sea Girl Douluo occasionally glaring at him due to the passive effect of his Female Killer lv. 1, he might have doubted his own charm entirely.

Standing aboard the Cloud Piercing Shuttle, Zhao Ling watched Poseidon Island shrink in the distance, muttering indignantly, "Xi'er, just wait. Once I'm strong enough to suppress you completely, don't even think about making me leave, hmph."

His thoughts soon wandered to the Demon Soul Great White Shark, Xiaobai. As the future mother of Bai Xiu Xiu, the heroine of the fourth installment of the original novel, Xiaobai's transformation into a striking beauty intrigued him.

Still, Zhao Ling decided against meeting her for now. As Poseidon's mount, Xiaobai was off-limits. Seducing the High Priestess was one thing, but pursuing Poseidon's mount could provoke unnecessary conflict. "Better wait until I'm stronger," he reasoned.

With a sigh, Zhao Ling walked to the bow of the ship, set the Cloud Piercing Shuttle's course for the Star Dou Great Forest, and retreated into the cabin.

Two Days Later

Standing at the bow, Zhao Ling admired the scenery as the shuttle soared over familiar terrain. Within a hundred kilometers lay the small village where Ah Yin once lived.

He recalled how Ah Yin had used her soul skills to summon heavy rains in defense of his honor. The memory brought a satisfied smile to his face.

But as the shuttle drew closer, Zhao Ling was met with a shocking sight—a vast lake now covered the area where the village once stood. He blurted out, "Oh shit!"

The village had been entirely submerged. The surrounding region, spanning dozens of kilometers, was now a massive body of water.

Zhao Ling couldn't help but marvel. "Xi'er… no, God is truly cruel. How much rain did it take to drown an entire village? Days? Weeks?" He shook his head, chuckling darkly.

The destruction left Zhao Ling indifferent. "What does the flooding have to do with me? Or Xi'er?" He shrugged. "It's just divine punishment for those villagers. They probably deserved it."

Satisfied with his justification, Zhao Ling whistled a jaunty tune as the shuttle flew over the lake.

Another Day Later

The Cloud Piercing Shuttle finally reached the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest. Instead of disembarking, Zhao Ling directed the shuttle to descend into the depths of the forest.

He had no idea where Xiao Wu and A Rou lived, but he assumed the Titan Giant Ape and Azure Bull Python would know. Confident in his strength, Zhao Ling decided to head straight to the core area of the 100,000-year soul beasts.

With his current combat prowess, Zhao Ling felt invincible in most parts of the Star Dou Great Forest, as long as he avoided powerful beings like the Silver Dragon King or Di Tian.

The shuttle maintained an altitude of less than a hundred meters as it passed over the area inhabited by Ten Thousand Year Soul Beasts.

Meanwhile, A Rou was busy gathering mushrooms for the evening's carrot stew. Though her husband's death weighed heavily on her heart, she had resolved to move forward—for Xiao Wu and herself.

The sudden hum of machinery reached her sensitive rabbit ears. Startled, A Rou looked up to see a massive ship hovering in the sky.

Her eyes widened. "A ship in the sky? Aren't ships supposed to sail on water?"

Her gaze followed its path toward the 100,000-year core area. A terrifying possibility crossed her mind. "Could that be… him?"

The "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary" had mentioned the writer's intention to visit the forest and take her and Xiao Wu away. If the person aboard the ship was indeed the diary's author, Da Ming and Er Ming could be in danger.

A Rou quickly gathered her basket and sprinted back home.

She found Xiao Wu napping lazily at the table. Without a word, she scooped her daughter up and bolted toward the core area.

Half-asleep, Xiao Wu blinked in confusion. "Mom? What's wrong? Why are you running so fast?"

"That person is here," A Rou said breathlessly. "Da Ming and Er Ming might be in danger. We need to warn them."

Xiao Wu immediately understood who her mother was referring to and yawned, snuggling into A Rou's arms.

"Don't worry, Mom. That person won't hurt them. At most…" Xiao Wu trailed off, rolling her eyes before dozing off again.

A Rou glanced down at her daughter, conflicted. "Could he really be here just to find us? Or is there another reason?"

Her doubts lingered as she carried Xiao Wu toward the heart of the forest, determined to protect her family.
