Chapter 180: Chapter 180

**Chapter 180: She Must Live**

In a secluded little house nestled within the ten-thousand-year soul beast area of the Star Dou Great Forest, Xiao Wu was nibbling on a carrot out of sheer boredom. Her mother, A Rou, had finished breakfast and gone out to forage. Left to her own devices, Xiao Wu pondered whether to venture into the 100,000-year soul beast area to play with Da Ming and Er Ming.

Suddenly, a shimmering "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary" appeared before her, signaling an update. Curiosity piqued, Xiao Wu lazily opened the diary.

At first, the content failed to capture her interest. She sprawled across the table, twirling her carrot. But as she continued reading, her large rabbit eyes widened in surprise.

"Scabbard of the Shura Sword?" she muttered, her ears twitching. "What does that even mean? I'm no scabbard—I'm just a cute little rabbit who loves carrots!"

Her indignation was quickly soothed by another mention: the promise of a divine position to "replenish" her. Though Xiao Wu didn't quite understand what a divine position was, anything that replenished her sounded appealing.

"Could I exchange that for a house full of carrots instead?" she wondered aloud. The thought of an endless supply of carrots brought a dreamy smile to her face.

But her lighthearted mood was short-lived. The diary revealed that Zhao Ling knew of her mother and intended to venture into the Star Dou Great Forest to find them. Her fur bristled with irritation.

"Take us away?!" Xiao Wu huffed. "Does he think it's that simple?"

The subsequent revelation struck her like lightning: her father was dead. Her mother, in an attempt to find him, would venture into a perilous area and meet a tragic end.

The carrot slipped from her grasp, rolling onto the table. Tears welled up in Xiao Wu's ruby-red eyes. "No... it can't be true."

Her small body trembled as she resolved to prevent her mother from embarking on such a dangerous journey. She could not lose her only remaining parent.

For the first time, Xiao Wu found herself hoping Zhao Ling would come to the forest and take them away. "If he can make Mom fall in love with him, maybe she'll let go of her sadness and stay safe," she thought, her ears drooping.

It felt unfair to her father, but her mother's life mattered more. "Dad would want her to live for me, wouldn't he?"

As she mulled over her plight, the diary's closing words shattered her composure.

"Six months to maturity? Six to eight litters a year? Six to eight babies per litter?!"

Xiao Wu slammed her paws on the table, cheeks flushed with anger. "What nonsense is this?! I'm not like those ordinary rabbits!"

Fuming, she clawed furiously at the diary, her indignation growing. "Just wait, Zhao Ling! I'll make you pay for slandering me and my mom!"

Meanwhile, several kilometers away, A Rou perched atop an apple tree, carefully picking the ripest fruit for Xiao Wu's dinner. Suddenly, a shimmering "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary" appeared before her, hovering persistently.

Frowning, she tried to ignore it. "What's this strange book? Can't it see I'm busy? I need to make sweet and sour apples for Xiao Wu tonight."

When her attempts to shoo it away failed, A Rou reluctantly opened the diary.

As a strange yet soothing male voice narrated its contents, A Rou grew increasingly confused. "Xi'er? Poseidon? Tang Chen? What is all this?"

Her confusion turned to alarm when she spotted her name alongside Xiao Wu's. The diary detailed her husband's death, her own doomed journey to find him, and the heartbreak it would bring to Xiao Wu.

Tears streamed down her cheeks. "Could it be true?" she whispered.

Her heart ached as she thought about her plan to search for her husband after Xiao Wu's transformation. If the diary was accurate, that decision would leave Xiao Wu orphaned and vulnerable in the human world.

"No," she resolved, clutching an apple tightly. "I won't abandon Xiao Wu. She needs me, now more than ever."

Though Xiao Wu was a 100,000-year soul beast, her transformation would leave her in the form of a powerless child. The human world was filled with danger, and Xiao Wu's kind nature would make her an easy target.

"Even if my husband were alive, he would want me to prioritize Xiao Wu's safety," A Rou thought, her grip on the apple softening.

She wiped her tears and gazed at the distant house. "I must live—for Xiao Wu."
