Peach Blossom Dual Cultivation

Chapter 91: A Blatant Frame-Up

“When I saved you, I broke Li Zhigang’s arm. His influence isn’t small, and the owner of this hotel, Jiang Zhengqiu, is his friend. Just now, Jiang brought six bodyguards to cause trouble, but I injured them and drove them away. If we stay here tonight, we might face even more trouble. I’m not afraid, but I worry you’ll get dragged into this. It’s best if we leave early.”

By now, Zhou Lang had a vague sense that Li Mengxue had feelings for him. The last time she had dismissed him as her bodyguard, there must have been a reason behind it.

If they stayed at the hotel, he could have spent a passionate night with this mature and charming woman. But reason told him that Li Zhigang and Jiang Zhengqiu were true scoundrels. After suffering losses, they wouldn’t let it go easily.

Of course, if those two came back to cause trouble, Zhou Lang wouldn’t just sit back either. However, he didn’t want Li Mengxue to get involved. His main focus right now was on his cultivation, and he didn’t have much time to ensure her safety.

“Zhou Lang, it’s so good to see you again. Do you know why I dismissed you last time?”

Li Mengxue suddenly threw herself into Zhou Lang’s arms, speaking softly.

“I thought it was because you were starting a new relationship and didn’t want to be associated with me. But now, it seems that wasn’t the case,” Zhou Lang replied. In truth, he had always wanted to know the reason.

“Zhou Lang, I realized I had feelings for you. But you had already gotten together with Ivannova. I felt that I was much older than you and that you wouldn’t like me. I didn’t want to compete with Ivannova, so I distanced myself from you. But these past few days, I’ve missed you more and more. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to escape these feelings, so I tried to find a dependable man to replace you. Li Zhigang was introduced to me by a business friend. I didn’t expect him to be such a beast in human clothing. On our first dinner date, he drugged me. Fortunately, you saved me, or my reputation would’ve been ruined forever,” Li Mengxue tearfully explained.

She was a strong businesswoman—mature and resilient in public—but in front of Zhou Lang, she seemed as fragile as a little girl. Perhaps it was because she felt Zhou Lang, though young, was someone she could trust and rely on.

After hearing her words, Zhou Lang was stunned. He hadn’t expected that Li Mengxue had distanced herself because of this.

“Sister Xue, I do like you. In my eyes, you’re one of the most beautiful women. But maybe… we just lack a little fate,” Zhou Lang replied, still maintaining his composure. He couldn’t just tell every woman, I’m a cultivator; it’s normal for me to have many women, so why don’t you be with me too?

Moreover, Li Mengxue was nearing thirty, and her outlook on life was different from that of Ivannova or Zhao Xiaorou.

Ivannova was in her early twenties, and Zhao Xiaorou wasn’t even twenty yet. Their views were more open and willing to accept new ideas. Li Mengxue, on the other hand, seemed more traditional. After the shock she had experienced tonight, Zhou Lang couldn’t push her any further.

Some things required fate—or perhaps, opportunity. Zhou Lang felt that if he and Li Mengxue were ever going to be together, it would depend on a future opportunity.

“Perhaps you’re right. I was born too late to love you when you were ready,” Li Mengxue sighed, seemingly agreeing with Zhou Lang’s thoughts on fate.

“Let’s go,” Zhou Lang said. Though he very much wanted to be with a woman like Li Mengxue, the timing wasn’t right. Seeing her in such pain put him in a difficult emotional spot as well.

“Zhou Lang, can I hold you a little longer?”

Li Mengxue asked tearfully. She knew this might be her last intimate moment with Zhou Lang, and she was reluctant to let go.

Zhou Lang didn’t speak. He just nodded slightly and held her tightly. He, too, cherished the moment, knowing that if they didn’t have fate, this might be their last chance to be close.

The two embraced without making any other moves, simply feeling each other’s warmth.

At that moment, time seemed to stand still, and all that remained was the sound of their heartbeats.

This moment will forever be etched into the hearts of both Zhou Lang and Li Mengxue.

“Let’s go,” Zhou Lang said a few minutes later, releasing Li Mengxue first.

But Li Mengxue was reluctant to let go and kissed Zhou Lang deeply.

After a long kiss, they finally stepped out of the room.

As soon as they reached the hotel lobby, a dozen police officers swarmed in, led by none other than Jiang Zhengqiu, the owner of the hotel.

“Officer Wu, this is the guy who caused trouble in our hotel,” Jiang Zhengqiu immediately shouted when he saw Zhou Lang.

“Freeze! Hands up!”

The bald police officer in charge gave the order, and all the officers drew their guns and aimed at Zhou Lang.

“Officer… what… what are you doing?”

Zhou Lang’s expression changed slightly, while Li Mengxue was terrified, stammering as she spoke.

“Li Mengxue, you and Zhou Lang checked into our hotel together. Zhou Lang broke into room 807 next door, assaulted Mr. Li Zhigang, and stole a diamond ring and thirty thousand yuan in cash. I received a call from Mr. Li and came over with my men to question you, but Zhou Lang attacked me as well. However, justice always prevails. You won’t escape!”

Jiang Zhengqiu accused, having learned Li Mengxue’s name from Li Zhigang and Zhou Lang’s name from the hotel records.

“You… you’re framing us! Li Zhigang was supposed to meet me for a blind date, but he drugged my drink and tried to take advantage of me at the hotel. Zhou Lang saved me!”

Li Mengxue was shocked. She hadn’t expected Jiang Zhengqiu to falsely accuse them.

“Mr. Jiang is the owner of this hotel, and Mr. Li Zhigang is a well-known entrepreneur in the city. Their statements completely align. Given their status, would they frame you two? Take them away!”

Officer Wu didn’t hesitate, ordering his men to handcuff Zhou Lang and Li Mengxue.

Several police officers advanced aggressively, brandishing shiny handcuffs as they approached Zhou Lang and Li Mengxue.

At that moment, Zhou Lang understood completely. These police officers were clearly in league with Jiang Zhengqiu. It was all a setup to frame him. According to Jiang’s version of events, Zhou Lang was guilty of robbery and assault, with a substantial amount of money involved. If convicted, he could spend many years in prison.

Jiang Zhengqiu’s plan was indeed sinister—he could take down Zhou Lang without shedding a drop of blood.

“Officer Wu, you can’t just believe one side of the story. Miss Li has already explained that the real criminal is Li Zhigang, and Jiang Zhengqiu is in cahoots with him. After I saved Miss Li from Li Zhigang, Jiang and his men came looking for trouble. I only acted in self-defense,” Zhou Lang calmly defended himself.

“This is a clear case of false accusation. Both sides are giving different statements. If you’re going to arrest us, Jiang Zhengqiu should be arrested as well. That would be fair!”
