Overdrafting the Future, Starting in Naruto

Chapter 131: The Primordial Spirit Secret Technique

"It's basically confirmed to be Rasa, who repelled Kumogakure and is holding off Iwagakure's attack. He possesses the same Magnet Release Kekkei Genkai as the Third Kazekage, allowing him to control Gold Dust in battle. He has the immense power to suppress a Tailed Beast, especially in a desert nation like the Land of Wind," Genichi said, explaining Sunagakure's situation. "Moreover, Sunagakure's leadership already intends to negotiate with Kirigakure to alleviate their current predicament."

Minato pondered this. "I'm afraid that won't be easy. With the upper hand, Kirigakure will likely make excessive demands."

"That depends on whether Sunagakure's leadership has enough courage," Genichi said meaningfully.

Minato sensed Genichi's implication. "If Sunagakure really does make peace with Kirigakure, it would likely be very disadvantageous for our village."

Genichi nodded. If Kiri and Suna made peace, Kirigakure's forces would be free to converge on Konoha.

They chatted for a while longer about the state of the ninja world before setting up a watch schedule and beginning to rest. Genichi was responsible for the first half of the night. However, he simply created a shadow clone to hide in a tree outside the cave while his real body sat cross-legged at the entrance, his attention focused inward.

He hadn't finished taking stock of his gains from his latest power-up.

The growth of his physical body was particularly astonishing this time. Last time, it was the power of a single horn; this time, it had increased elevenfold. That is to say, his own chakra was now about twelve times that of the Eight-Tails' horn he had sealed within him. If his previous speculation was correct, and one horn was about one percent of the Eight-Tails' total chakra, then his current chakra reserves were about one-eighth of the complete Eight-Tails.

This was a rough estimate, as he had never seen the complete Eight-Tails and couldn't accurately gauge its total chakra. But it was an immense amount, firmly at the Tailed Beast level. At the very least, it shouldn't be any less than the One-Tail, the weakest of the beasts.

And, from the experience feedback, he knew that Kekkei Genkai could indeed increase one's potential. Because he had mastered Ice Release before the "overdraft," the potential brought by it had been almost fully realized over the past ten years. But the sensory Kekkei Genkai "Heaven's Eye" and the explosive Kekkei Genkai had been mastered in the fourth and eighth years of that future, respectively, meaning their potential had not been fully realized yet. If he continued to train, he could still keep tapping into his own potential.

Especially since… he was still in the rapid growth phase of his physical development.

At this moment, Genichi could feel that his cells were extremely active, or rather, their vitality was very strong, with an instinctive craving for nutrition. He felt that in the coming year, with sufficient nutrition, his physical stamina might even double again. His potential was continuously stacking, and it would become more and more terrifying in the future. Even though, at the beginning, he was just a very ordinary person who might have maxed out as a chūnin.

"Developing Kekkei Genkai was definitely the right path. Especially with my ability panel, even if my natural physical talent is poor, as the Kekkei Genkai change my genes and constitution, my physical talent will also become more and more astonishing…"

It could be said that he had now found a viable method to improve his physical constitution. He remembered that Onoki was still so capable at his old age, and it had a lot to do with his Dust Release—a point made by the Second Tsuchikage, Mū. Although Mū was the creator of Dust Release, Onoki hadn't inherited it by bloodline; he had mastered it himself.

"There's not much clear evidence regarding longevity yet, and at my age, I don't need to consider it for now." The thought of extending his life was just a fleeting one for Genichi, and he quickly moved on.

His attention shifted to his right eye. The Sharingan was currently deactivated, but even so, he could feel its dōjutsu power surging, as if something was about to burst forth.

"My dōjutsu has improved again. It seems to have reached a limit. Is the Mangekyō next?" Genichi wondered. "As the body grows, spiritual power naturally grows with it. Through long-term accumulation, can one use powerful spiritual energy to force a breakthrough, transforming the three-tomoe into a Mangekyō? Or is it simply because my body is getting stronger that the dōjutsu of the three-tomoe is getting stronger?"

He wasn't sure. It seemed both were possible.

He reached up and touched his right eye. A question suddenly occurred to him. The mastery of a Kekkei Genkai could change genes and alter one's constitution. His Sharingan was also not inherited by bloodline; he wasn't born with it. Although he hadn't mastered it himself, it was an external addition. So… could the power of the Sharingan in turn affect his own constitution, allowing the Sharingan's genes to completely merge with his own, to the point where it could be passed down to his descendants? If so, could his left eye awaken on its own?

The key was how to make this external gene merge with his own body. This was completely different from transplanting Hashirama's cells.

"Transplantation? No, it still has to be done through the path of chakra feeding back into the body."

Genichi's attention turned to the Yin Seal on his forehead.

Splash!

Within the chakra pool of the seal, a body of consciousness rose from the pool and floated above its surface. Spiritual energy then began to gather around this consciousness, rapidly condensing into a soul body. Yes, a soul body, not the spirit form of the Spirit Transformation Technique. Because the spiritualized form was detached from the physical body. Even when it returned to the body, if the jutsu wasn't canceled, one couldn't control the body as usual. In other words, one had to choose between the spirit form and the normal state.

But this soul body did not affect the body's functions. This was the direction Genichi had been working towards, and his future self had finally managed to grind it out.

Splash!

After the soul body successfully condensed, the chakra in the pool immediately surged upwards like a current of water, enveloping Genichi's soul body and forming a jet-black robe, or rather, a divine robe. It was as if he had put on a black chakra cloak. If he had a few Truth-Seeking Orbs, he would look quite similar to the Sage of Six Paths from the Fourth Great Ninja War.

This secret technique was named by the future Genichi: the Primordial Spirit Secret Technique!

This technique was only mastered in the fifth year of the future. After that, the future Genichi constantly maintained this state, using the Yin-natured chakra from the Yin Seal as nourishment for his soul. It was indeed effective, although the daily gains were small. But over time, they added up to something substantial. And just having a method to strengthen the spirit was already invaluable.

The feeling that his Sharingan was about to break through was also related to this Primordial Spirit Technique. Of course, the technique had another wonderful use: it had an astonishingly miraculous effect against genjutsu. At least, according to the future Genichi's own tests, when the Primordial Spirit held the "Rin" hand seal, no genjutsu cast by his shadow clones could affect his main body. This was something he had been unable to do before.

Unfortunately, his future self had not tested it against Mangekyō genjutsu, especially Tsukuyomi and Kotoamatsukami.

I can try it with Tsukuyomi next time… Genichi thought. As for Kotoamatsukami, it was a bit too dangerous. Thinking of it, he fell into deep thought. He might not face Kotoamatsukami in the future, but he had to be prepared for similar illusions.

Could I use the Substitution Jutsu to counter it? He was thinking of his Primordial Spirit, within the Yin Seal, using the Substitution Jutsu. Considering the reaction time, especially since Kotoamatsukami didn't require eye contact, it would be best to set it up in advance. For example, he could use a modified Transcription Seal to seal a Substitution Jutsu beforehand, which would trigger automatically, allowing a Primordial Spirit shadow clone to take the hit instead. As for whether the Primordial Spirit could use ninjutsu within the Yin Seal, there was no doubt about that.

"I'll do this as soon as I get back to the village. Whether I'll need it or not, I must have it," Genichi decided.

He then looked at his right eye from the perspective of his Primordial Spirit. This was the first time he had seen the color of his own Sharingan's chakra. It was crimson red, completely different from his own ice-blue chakra.

External power…

Genichi thought of his previous idea. Now, combined with the Primordial Spirit Technique, another thought couldn't help but surface: "Can I use the Primordial Spirit to analyze the unique Yin-natured chakra of the Sharingan, and thereby master this Yin nature transformation?"

Previously, he had thought that the Yin Release he had mastered might be able to directly awaken his own Sharingan. But as he successively mastered three Kekkei Genkai, all of which were fusions of Water and Wind, he had put that thought aside. The same nature transformation, but the core could be different. The same Yin Release might not be compatible with the Sharingan.

If he could decipher the secret of the Sharingan's Yin nature transformation, then awakening his left eye seemed like it would be a natural outcome. But this path would be extremely difficult.

"I still have to try. If you don't try, you'll never know."

"Two paths: analyze the Sharingan's Yin nature transformation, and forcibly elevate it with powerful spiritual and physical energy." Genichi's goals were gradually becoming clearer. Although this Sharingan was external, both its spiritual and physical energy were now supplied by him. The mutual influence was definitely forming, however subtly.

"Genichi!" Suddenly, Minato's voice called out. Then, Genichi heard Obito's sleepy voice. "Minato-sensei, is it morning already?"

Genichi turned and saw Obito rubbing his eyes as he sat up.

"You can keep resting, Obito," Minato said softly, then came to the cave entrance. "Genichi, you should get some rest."

Unconsciously, it was already past midnight.

Genichi turned to sit opposite Minato and smiled. "It's fine, I'm wide awake. Besides, I have a clone outside."

Just then, Obito, who was about to go back to sleep, stared at Genichi, because Genichi hadn't deactivated his right eye's Sharingan yet. He knew, of course, that Genichi had transplanted the eye of their clansman, Uchiha Namiichi, but he rarely saw him display it, not even during the Chūnin Exams against the three-tomoe Uchiha Tekka. This was the first time Obito had seen it.

If I awakened the Sharingan, I'd definitely be super strong too! Obito thought with envy, his sleepiness vanishing without a trace. He got up and sat down next to Minato at the cave entrance, looking at Genichi's right eye. "Genichi," he said softly, "I remember Namiichi's eye was a two-tomoe, right?"

Genichi nodded. "It was originally. It probably broke through during that battle, but because his stamina was depleted, it didn't transform. It automatically transformed after I transplanted it."

"You must have been really good friends," Obito said.

A reminiscent look appeared on Genichi's face. "We often discussed genjutsu. Although we didn't train together much, we sometimes liked to have Water versus Fire Release duels." He couldn't help but smile. "That guy Namiichi was cool on the outside but passionate on the inside, like Kakashi."

"That guy Kakashi is not like that at all!" Obito immediately retorted.

Genichi chuckled. "You're right, that guy Kakashi does have a sharp tongue."

Obito nodded vigorously, deeply agreeing.

"Obito, is talking bad about people behind their backs something an elite Uchiha should be doing?" Kakashi's voice suddenly came from behind him.

Obito jumped, his body trembling. He then turned, his neck stiff. "I… I wasn't!"

Genichi and Minato looked at each other and laughed silently. These two, Kakashi and Obito, were quite a pair.
