Chapter 129: A New Kekkei Genkai

Inside an uninhabited house, Kinoshita Genichi and the female spy suddenly appeared next to Uzumaki Ina.

"Genichi, this is…" Ina was slightly startled by the woman next to him.

"An intelligence operative," Genichi explained simply. He put an arm around Ina's waist, used the Flying Thunder God Technique again, and vanished from the room. They reappeared in a cave over ten kilometers outside of Iwagakure, where he had left a kunai marker earlier.

Here, it could be said they were absolutely safe. Even if the female spy had some kind of plot, she could no longer execute it. So, Genichi released the genjutsu and sealing jutsu.

The spy's senses returned. She looked around, surprised. "This is… we've already left Iwagakure?"

Genichi didn't answer, instead looking at her coolly. "You can tell me your identity now. Although you're an intelligence operative for Root, you're still part of the Anbu. I am Kinoshita Genichi, a jonin of the Hokage's direct Anbu."

The woman's eyes widened. "Kinoshita Genichi!" She had heard this name; the Iwa-nin had been discussing it a lot recently. And there was a great deal of information about him in Iwagakure's intelligence files. The prodigy of the Leaf Village, said to be only eleven or twelve years old, who had single-handedly wiped out the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, was evaluated by the Third Mizukage as having the power of a Kage, and had a bounty of 500 million ryō.

After the shock, the woman felt much more at ease. She quickly bowed. "Lord Genichi, I am Root intelligence operative Nono Yakushi."

So it is you. From the moment she had mentioned an agreement with Danzō, Genichi had guessed she was Nono Yakushi. Of course, he hadn't brought her out just because of her possible identity. As an intelligence operative, she was a part of Konoha. Carrying out such a dangerous mission with no support—although Genichi could be ruthless, he respected people like her and felt she was worth protecting.

Of course, this was on the premise that his own safety was guaranteed. For security, he had directly sealed her and applied numerous genjutsu to disrupt her senses so she wouldn't know how he had left Iwagakure. Now that he knew her true identity, he could relax a little, but he still couldn't let his guard down completely. Someone like her would have to go through a series of screenings upon returning to Konoha before she could be reintegrated.

After asking a few more questions, Genichi said, "Rest for two hours. After that, we'll leave the Land of Earth."

"Captain, I'll keep watch," Ina said quickly.

Genichi nodded, then sat down cross-legged and closed his eyes to rest. Nono Yakushi knew she wasn't fully trusted. She didn't say anything, sitting down in a corner and resting against the wall. Ina crouched in the darkness near the cave entrance, periodically sensing the surrounding area.

Two hours passed in a flash. The three of them set out, moving quickly toward the border of the Land of Earth under the cover of darkness. By dawn, they had arrived. After crossing the border, they entered the Land of Waterfalls before stopping to rest again. They ate military rations pills, drank water, and rested in silence.

"Captain, someone's approaching…" Ina suddenly warned. "Four people, coming from the east. They're chasing each other, probably from two different factions. They'll pass by here in five minutes at most. Should we go around them?"

Genichi stood up. "Let's go around. We'll head south and enter the Land of Fire along the border." He didn't want any complications. And so, after only a short rest, the three of them set off again, heading south and crossing into the Land of Fire before stopping once more.

Genichi could clearly feel that Nono Yakushi had completely relaxed after entering their home country. But he had not; it still wasn't safe here. After another short two-hour rest, the three of them set off again, making a beeline for Konoha. By the time they arrived, it was already dark.

"We're finally back!" Ina let out a long breath, her whole demeanor brightening from her previous silence.

Genichi also smiled. "You two wait in the lobby. I'll go see the Hokage first."

Hiruzen was still working. After receiving the intelligence from Genichi, he immediately had an Anbu take it to the Intelligence Division, then asked Genichi about the mission. Genichi gave him the important details, especially concerning Nono Yakushi.

"Nono Yakushi…" Hiruzen said. "I remember her. Skilled in medical ninjutsu and intelligence gathering. You did well. I'll have the Anbu liaise with her. You've all worked hard, Genichi. Go home and get some good rest."

Genichi bowed and left. After handing Nono over, he and Ina first went back to the Anbu base and then headed home.

"I wish we could get a longer rest this time," Ina said, stretching her neck expectantly.

Genichi laughed. "I'm afraid that might be a bit difficult." It was wartime, and Konoha was short on workhorses. Even Orochimaru was being run ragged, and that old fox Danzō was still fighting in the Land of Rain, trying to make a comeback. Useful workhorses like them, with such high efficiency, would definitely be squeezed for all they were worth.

Genichi thought about how he was being exploited as a child and felt it was terribly inhumane. As expected of this messed-up world. I am not yet strong; when I am strong, there will be change. I was a workhorse in my past life, and I'm still a workhorse now. Didn't I transmigrate for nothing?

When he got home, after washing up and eating, Genichi viciously continued his training. He still wasn't strong enough. Otherwise, forget a war between five villages, he would just steamroll all of them.

As expected, after only four days of rest, Genichi was sent out on a mission with Ina again. This time, it wasn't to the main battlefield, but for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering behind enemy lines on the Kirigakure front.

And so, time entered March of Konoha Year 47. The Great Ninja War was raging, and its scope was widening. Iwagakure was now fighting both Sunagakure and Kumogakure. Sunagakure was fighting both Iwagakure and Kirigakure. Kirigakure was fighting both Konoha and Sunagakure. And while Konoha was at war with Kirigakure, small-scale clashes with Kumogakure were breaking out, and a full-scale war was only a matter of time.

All five great ninja villages were now in the water.

Sunagakure had it the worst. First, they were ambushed by Kumo, then attacked by Kiri, and then ambushed by Iwa, suffering heavy losses. Genichi had taken Ina on a mission to Sunagakure once to gather intelligence and had discovered that if the village, which was second only to Konoha in strength, didn't gain enough from this war, its power would likely plummet. Yes, before the outbreak of the Third Great Ninja War, Sunagakure was a powerful village, second only to Konoha. Its military might may have been far less than Iwa's or Kumo's, but the quality of its ninja was extremely high among the five great villages, even surpassing Konoha's. This was largely due to the harsh environment of Sunagakure and the elite soldier strategy of its leadership.

Time flew by, and once again it was March 18th.

On this day, Genichi happened to be out of the village.

In the Land of Rivers, on the northeastern border, inside a cave.

Genichi and Ina were resting here, having just returned from the Land of Wind. Since they wouldn't be able to get back to Konoha until dawn tomorrow anyway, Genichi decided to rest here for the night. Of course, he was just too lazy to wait until tomorrow to use his 'cheat.' He was already itching with anticipation.

Ina was temporarily on watch, so Genichi sat leaning against the stone wall, closed his eyes, and focused his attention on the panel in his mind.

Show yourself, my precious!

The panel exploded, and a purple ball of light bloomed with infinite brilliance, illuminating every one of his cells, every one of his genes. His consciousness went blank for an instant. When it returned, he had gained a great deal of experience, and his body had undergone a heaven-and-earth-shattering change.

Genichi's eyelids twitched a few times, but he didn't open them immediately, silently organizing his gains.

First, his sealing arts. The expansion and extension of the Transcription Seal were complete. It was no longer exclusive to the Sharingan for sealing dōjutsu, but had been transformed into a sealing curse mark that could seal any ninjutsu or genjutsu. This was expected, as his research had been progressing well.

Next, the Wind Release sensory ninjutsu he had been developing was also complete. It was named "Wind's Touch." He had planned to combine his three sensory methods to develop it in the direction of a Kekkei Genkai. Although his future self hadn't completed it, he had achieved a milestone. Fusing the three nature transformations of Yin, Water, and Wind to form a sensory Kekkei Tōta was extremely difficult. But Genichi, who had already mastered Ice Release and had experience fusing Wind and Water, had successfully combined his Heavenly Water, Boundless and Wind's Touch techniques in the future.

This fusion of Water and Wind nature transformations had formed a new Kekkei Genkai. Its name was "Heaven's Eye."

Of course, he didn't have a third eye on his forehead. At first, his future self had intended to name it the "Heavenly Human Mind's Eye," but in the end, he chose the more domineering "Heaven's Eye." This was because, apart from being unable to sense precisely deep underground, this sensory Kekkei Genkai could perceive everything in the sky, on the ground, and in the sea. This perception wasn't just of chakra, movement speed, and distance, but also of the visual outlines of all objects. The only thing was that the images seen by the Heaven's Eye were black and white, a bit like the Byakugan.

The mastery of the sensory Kekkei Genkai "Heaven's Eye" directly elevated Genichi's perception abilities to a new level. He was no longer affected by the environment like he had been when using Heavenly Water, Boundless.

Genichi was thrilled with this technique and immediately began to test it.

His perception expanded, as if he had an invisible eye looking out from his body. The world he saw was black and white. The outline of the cave appeared in his mind and rapidly expanded outward. He then saw Ina, on watch at the entrance, followed by the overall outline of the mountain where the cave was located. And the Heaven's Eye could observe from all angles. He could even look at every single tree on the mountain.

After just a brief test, Genichi felt that the name "Heaven's Eye" was well-deserved.
