Chapter 20: 20
---
Kaito began explaining the fundamentals of magic to Lala. She listened attentively, nodding along, and soon began meditating as instructed. However, her mind was full of random inspirations, making it difficult for her to fully settle down. On top of that, the energy within her body kept flaring up, interfering with her ability to sense the external magical energy. So, if Lala really wanted to learn, she'd have to work hard at it.
Then Lala opened her eyes and said,
"It's not working yet!"
Kaito nodded. "Don't rush it."
"Okay." Lala laughed.
She had come here mostly out of curiosity anyway, so she wasn't in a hurry.
Then she suddenly remembered something and told Kaito:
"Kaito, I already finished the first generation of the armor!"
"That fast?" Kaito was surprised.
Lala smiled and nodded. "Want to take a look?"
"Sure!" Kaito smiled and nodded.
Even though he had already learned magic, no guy could resist the allure of Iron Man armor. So he quickly agreed. Lala grinned and pulled Kaito into her room. There, in the corner, stood a silver-white human-shaped armor. It resembled Iron Man's Mark II—unpainted, but still sleek and stunning. Kaito couldn't resist stepping closer to touch it.
The shining silver armor was beautiful. Kaito felt the texture of the metal and noted how heavy it was.
"Can I try it on?" he asked, turning to Lala.
Lala smiled and nodded. "Go ahead."
"It's not painted yet, but it already has all the modules installed, including shock absorption and smart systems. The freezing issue during high-altitude flight has also been fixed. There's even a robotic arm system to help you put it on. You can try it now if you want," she added proudly.
Kaito nodded, visibly excited. "Alright, let's do it."
"Okay!" Lala smiled.
Suddenly, the ceiling split open, and several mechanical arms extended down. Kaito looked up, realizing Lala had modified the ceiling. He didn't comment—just watched the mechanical arms begin to disassemble the armor in front of him.
Lala called out, "Kaito, hold out your hands!"
"Got it!" Kaito stretched out his arms.
"Put on the boots," Lala added.
Only the armored boots were in front of him now. Kaito slipped them on quickly. With a click, the mechanical systems activated, and the boots adjusted snugly to his feet.
Then, mechanical arms fitted the arm sections, followed by the chest plate, back armor, and leg sections. Finally, with another click, the faceplate locked into place.
Kaito was now fully suited in the silver armor—but he felt no weight at all, as if he were wearing regular clothes.
Suddenly, a light lit up in front of him—the armor's system booted up—and a robotic voice spoke:
"Noah at your service."
The outside world came into clear view.
Kaito tried walking and stepped forward with ease, as if walking normally.
He knew this was thanks to the AI's assistance—without it, the armor's weight would make movement nearly impossible.
He turned to Lala and said, "Lala, take a picture of me!" and struck a pose.
"Okay!" Lala smiled and grabbed the camera.
She snapped several shots of Kaito while he continued posing. The sound of the camera clicking filled the room.
After a fun little photoshoot, Kaito had the sudden urge to try flying. It was, after all, the most exciting feature of Iron Man's suit. But just as he was about to say it, he remembered something: radar. Airspace control was no joke—military radars wouldn't ignore a fast-moving unidentified object.
If detected, fighter jets would be dispatched to intercept, and failure to respond could result in being shot down.
So, flying wasn't an option.
"Do you have an anti-radar system?" Kaito asked Lala.
"I do!" she nodded confidently. "No one will notice a thing."
Kaito nodded. Still, he hesitated and ultimately chose not to take the risk.
If he were spotted, it would cause a major scene. Better to wait for now—and if he couldn't fly in this world, he could always fly in another.
"Let's save that for later," he said, finally giving up the idea.
The armor was removed, and Kaito stepped out with a deep breath.
"What an amazing feeling!"
He turned to Lala with a smile. "Lala, you're really incredible!"
Lala giggled proudly.
Just then, Mikan and Pekai showed up at the door, curiously peeking in.
Mikan noticed the suit of armor in the corner and asked Lala,
"Lala-san, what is that?"
"Iron Armor!" Lala replied cheerfully.
"Oh," Mikan nodded. "What does it do?"
"You can become a superhero when you wear it!" Lala grinned.
"Just like in the movies—you can fly and do almost anything. You can become a real hero!"
"Really?" Mikan's eyes lit up with curiosity.
She looked at the armor, imagining herself flying through the sky. The image played in her mind for a moment before she shook her head and dismissed it. That kind of thing was impossible—besides, she had to return home the next day.
And with that, the topic passed, and everyone soon returned to their rooms to sleep.
Kaito used meditation in place of sleep, continuously strengthening his body and soul and increasing the magical power within him.
At first, he planned to spend the whole night like that, but soon his mind became too tired, and he eventually fell asleep.
At this stage, sleep was still the best way to restore his mental energy.
---
The next morning.
Kaito woke up feeling refreshed, only to find someone lying on top of him.
He tilted his head and saw Lala, sleeping peacefully in his arms. Kaito shook his head helplessly and sat up.
Lala was really pushing his self-control.
He was a healthy young man—sooner or later, he wouldn't be able to resist, and if she kept this up, he'd end up "eating" her.
Still, he restrained himself—especially since Mikan was already knocking on the door.
"Sooner or later, I'll eat you," Kaito muttered, patting Lala's head to wake her up.
Lala rubbed her eyes and smiled at him.
"Good morning."
"...Morning." Kaito sighed and nodded.
