Oops, I Accidentally Ascended to Godhood

Chapter 53: Greedy

"Damn, I changed my mind. I'm rating this talent a solid A," Tarkan muttered to himself, walking through the forest.

Before long, the sight of stalls, buildings, and people moving around in all sorts of armor and with all kinds of weapons came into view.

Tarkan was back in the settlement.

It didn't take long before he was standing in front of a building with a large sign that read:

Terra Association Building

He stepped in, his expression unchanged.

The view was the same as last time, ascenders moving about, people working on their businesses, busy and focused.

Tarkan walked straight to the desk he had visited the last time. But the person sitting there now was different from the one who had given him directions back then.

"Good day, mister. How may I be of help?" the man said as he noticed someone approaching.

"I'm looking for an officer. He has two golden stars and..." Tarkan started, describing the officer who had flung him into the wall the first time he came, in order to protect Cassian.

"Oh, you mean Sergeant Felix," the man said, finally catching on after a moment of hearing Tarkan's description.

"Do you have an appointment with him? If you do, please tell me your name," he added.

"Just tell him one of his old friends is here to check up on him," Tarkan said, his expression still blank, not the least bit bothered.

"Oh…" the man replied.

"What's your name? And if you don't mind, could you remove your mask?" he added.

"My name is Tarkan," he said, pulling off the mask he had on.

The moment the man saw Tarkan's face, he couldn't help but gape.

"Such beauty..." he subconsciously muttered in disbelief.

Tarkan, seeing the man's expression, showed no change of emotion. He quickly put his mask back on.

He would never get used to being looked at like that. It felt strange every single time.

As soon as the mask went back on, the man's gawking expression shifted to one of sudden recognition and shock. But only for a brief second. He immediately returned to a formal and professional posture.

Tarkan, who had maxed out all three of his prime points, caught it clearly.

"The sergeant is not around at the moment. Can yo.."

Boom

Creak..

Before the man could finish his sentence, Tarkan grabbed his head and slammed it against the desk he was leaning on.

"If you don't tell me where the sergeant is, I'll make you wish for death," Tarkan said, voice calm and flat.

The commotion caught the attention of everyone in the building. People stopped what they were doing and turned to stare.

Soon, all the guards stationed inside and outside the building came rushing in to apprehend Tarkan.

Tarkan abruptly released his grip on the receptionist, dodging a strike from one of the approaching guards.

Cough Cough

The receptionist, now freed, coughed violently. A thin line of blood ran down the corner of his mouth as he wiped it away.

"He's a wanted criminal! With a bounty of five hundred million gold coins!" the receptionist shouted to the onlookers, now watching as Tarkan effortlessly dealt with the guards.

The people heard it. None of them doubted it. They all knew the receptionist wouldn't dare tarnish the Terra Association's name just to protect himself.

In an instant, greedy expressions lit up all over the room.

They stared at Tarkan as if he were a fat pig waiting to be slaughtered.

And just like that, they rushed toward him, each trying to be the first to bring him down and claim the bounty.

Despite how quickly the situation had turned, Tarkan remained completely calm.

Instead, a faint smile appeared on his face.

Then, just as suddenly, he disappeared from in front of the guards, and reappeared in front of the receptionist, who was now busy massaging his head.

"The hard way it is, then," Tarkan said, his hand already wrapped around the man's neck, pulling him out from behind the desk.

The receptionist, hearing the familiar voice and feeling the grip around his neck, couldn't help but freeze.

He frantically glanced around.

And the scene before him made his blood run cold.

He had only looked away for a moment, but now… Thischapter'struesourceisMyVirtualLibraryEmpire(M|V|LEMP-YR).

Everyone was lying on the floor.

Judging by the rising and falling of their chests, they were still alive, just knocked out cold.

However, that only made it more terrifying.

He became even more horrified.

There was no one left who could come to his aid.

Sigh…

Tarkan couldn't help but lament inwardly.

Now I get it… why that Sam guy was willing to part with ten million gold coins in exchange for Godspeed Life.

This talent was truly heaven-defying, for it to be only C-rank.

Unless someone had a perfect counter, even an S-rank ascender with the same power level, or lower, would be nothing more than a sitting duck.

Just waiting to be slaughtered.

Damn it… I could've asked for thirty million from that Sam guy, Tarkan lamented again.

"I… I… I'll tell you! The sergeant.." the receptionist stammered, voice cracking with fear.

"Not interested," Tarkan interrupted, tone calm and uninterested.

Without giving him a chance to continue, Tarkan threw him to the ground and stomped on his leg.

Crack

The sound of bone breaking echoed clearly.

"ARRRGHHHHHH!"

The receptionist screamed like a slaughtered pig.
