Chapter 48: I wouldn't dare
"Sam, why are you letting them walk away after that kid disrespected you like that?" the lady near Sam Richardson asked, a frown on her face.
"Ana... Ana... Ana..." the man said, his eyes finally leaving the masked boy who was walking away.
He patted Ana's shoulder gently.
"Do you think an Awakened can resist more than 5% of my aura pressure and still be alive?" Sam asked, locking eyes with her.
"That's impossible... but that still doesn't explain why you're letting the boy go," the woman replied, her expression confused.
Sam wrapped his hand around her shoulder, pulling her closer.
"That boy didn't just withstand 5%, I released a 100% without holding back.
Not only did he not flinch... it was like he had no idea I was even pressuring him," the man said, his tone grim now.
"Do you think, if it were you, you'd still want to pursue the matter?" Sam asked, a smile creeping back onto his face.
A chill passed through Ana's body in shock before she could even register it.
"You mean... you didn't hold back on him back there?" she asked, her voice cracking.
"You haven't answered my question," Sam said, still smiling.
"N-no... I wouldn't dare. I'd be quoting death," the woman stammered, her voice shaky.
"Yeah, that's what I thought," the man muttered, eyes trailing after Tarkan's back as he disappeared into the distance.
"Which family's young master do you think he is?" Ana asked, curiosity in her voice.
But Sam didn't reply. He only shook his head at Ana's question, eyes still fixed on the path Tarkan had left, deep in thought.
--
Stepping out, Tarkan could be seen smiling from ear to ear like a moron, staring at something on his bracelet.
"11 f***ing million..." Tarkan muttered, still in disbelief.
He hadn't really expected the Sam guy to actually give him the money.
But not only did he get the full ten million gold, the man even added another million for winning the competition.
Tarkan had even walked past Dustin, the so-called Godspeed's unconscious body, grinning so hard, his face didn't seem as detestable as it had before.
After a while, Tarkan bumped into someone, finally tearing his eyes away from the bracelet. Slim was standing, waiting for him.
Tarkan immediately scanned his hand, he was no longer holding popcorn.
Sigh
Tarkan couldn't help but sigh in relief. Then his expression lit up even more.
"How much did I make with my money?" he asked, eager to hear the number.
"Your total amount is 36 million," Slim replied with his usual blank face.
"...How?"
Tarkan's smiling face froze in shock. He knew he was going to make a killing, but 36 million? That was pushing it.
His luck wasn't even that great to begin with. With this kind of payout, wasn't the little bit of luck around him already used up?
Looking at Slim, he asked, "How? I only gave you 8000 gold."
"Erm... after you caused that commotion on stage with Sinbad, your odds to win were raised to 4.5.
I placed the bet, which brought the money to 36,000.
Then after your fight with Godspeed, your odds jumped to 999.
That brought the current total to 36 million gold coins," Slim explained, his expression still unchanged.
Ssss...
Tarkan drew in a breath of cold air.
He couldn't help but feel worried. What was going to happen to his already miserable luck?
He'd made a massive killing from the event. The only loss... was the timer he'd built up over the past few days.

He had accumulated 5 minutes over the past few days.
One minute inside the dimension right after he exited...
Two days spent enjoyin.. erm, looking after Slim...
And the full day wasted in the fighting tournament.
He'd burned nearly a minute just to comprehend Godspeed's C-Rank talent. The rest, he'd used to pinpoint him and smack him unconscious.
Godspeed's talent was a good one. If used right, doubling his current speed in the first dimension could let him match, or at least get close to, someone with maxed-out Prime points.
Haha
Tarkan laughed, happiness radiating from his body.
"Slim, come, let's go!" He grabbed and dragged him along.
"Eh? Young master, that's not the way to the manor," Slim said, puzzled.
"Yep. I know," Tarkan replied.
Slim didn't ask again. He knew he'd find out eventually what his master was up to.
Before long, Tarkan led him to a building. The guards at the front tried to block him from entering because of his mask.
Tarkan simply removed it, stunning them for a second.
Their tone turned sour with envy.
"Erm... if you don't mind putting it back on..."
"Oh."
Tarkan gave a bright smile, one that was more of an eyesore to them, and calmly pulled the mask back on.
The guards stepped aside, welcoming them in.
Inside, a middle-aged, beautiful woman approached them with a professional smile.
"How may I be of help to you gentlemen?" she asked in a polite, formal tone.
....
Hey! I actually wrote this chapter yesterday as a small appreciation for your continued support. I was going to upload it then, but I decided to wait and release it along with the one I planned to write today.
To be honest, I wasn't even supposed to upload anything today since I'm still feeling a bit under the weather, lol. But I pushed through because it didn't feel right to show my appreciation with just one chapter.
So, thank you once again for your support. Much love! ❤️
Your Power Stones, Golden Tickets, comments, and reviews seriously motivate me! If you're enjoying the book, I'd really appreciate a review 😉
