Chapter 94 - Gravitational Attraction from the Cosmos
The most crucial experiment—the verification phase—began. Success would mean they had indeed derived the unified field equation. Though the derived formula might not be the most precise, they had at least successfully grasped a part of the Unified Field Theory. This is akin to the person who first calculated the value of pi; without that initial discovery, the increasingly accurate values of pi that followed would not exist.
The experiment was led by the most prestigious scientist in the department, Xiao Luo. Wearing a white lab coat and plain glasses, her eyes radiated intelligence and sagacity. Despite her small stature making her appear diminutive among the crowd, her presence commanded the attention of all the scientists present.
Wu Ge was not in the laboratory to avoid any potential accidents. He was on the outskirts, near several erupting volcanoes with lava flowing slowly down the lava rivers. Dense smoke filled the air, obscuring the sky of Venus.
Additionally, a four-dimensional battleship was hidden in the fourth dimension. Currently, Earth’s civilization had only three such battleships capable of free movement in four dimensions—one stationed at the temple, another guarding the solar system’s edge to protect against potential invaders. Both of these required at least thirty individuals of the Enlightenment realm to operate.
The third was under Wu Ge’s personal control. With his current level of Spirit Condensatinon realm, he could freely manipulate this four-dimensional battleship.
After ensuring everything was fail-safe, the experiment commenced.
Wu Ge’s massive electromagnetic generator began operating, emitting a powerful electromagnetic force that started affecting the surrounding environment.
According to the scientists’ calculations, the four fundamental forces in nature are in a relatively stable state everywhere, including Venus. However, their task was to disrupt this balance using the unified field equation they had derived.
Deliberately increasing the electromagnetic force in the area, the powerful energy affected everything within its vicinity, including electronic devices, instruments, and the scientists themselves.
They were protected by Divine Creation Particle suits, and their instruments were made from the same particles, allowing them to withstand the powerful electromagnetic forces.
“Zzzt, zzzt!”
Everyone began hearing this sound, unable to discern whether it originated from within their minds or the external environment. The sound was eerie and grew louder.
Eventually, the noise overwhelmed their senses, and their ears were filled with the “zzzt, zzzt” sound. Despite the discomfort, the scientists endured, waited, and recorded.
As the sound reached a critical point, everyone felt as if their heads were struck, and their bodies began to lighten. It wasn’t that they were becoming lighter, but a force was pulling them, causing their bodies to levitate.
The heaviest electromagnetic generator flew up first, crashing into the ceiling, which could not withstand the force and shattered. Then, lighter devices and equipment followed, and finally, the scientists themselves.
One scientist exclaimed in shock, “The direction of gravity has changed! Why? Why has the direction of gravity changed?”
An older scientist, also in panic, said, “The direction of gravity has changed… We’re in free ascent motion. Grab onto the railing, or we’ll be thrown into outer space!”
Xiao Luo spread her bat wings, but as she ascended, she could only flap towards the ground, shouting, “Gravity experts, what’s happening? Why has the direction of gravity changed? Could our experiment have altered the gravitational direction of the entire world?”
The gravity scientist firmly gripped the railing. Fortunately, the human body’s mass was not as high, so unlike the electromagnetic generator, they weren’t immediately thrown into outer space. After some thought, he explained, “It’s not that the world’s gravity has changed, but rather, us, within the range of the electromagnetic field. Our experiment must have gone wrong, causing everything within the electromagnetic field to have negative mass.”
With this explanation from the gravity scientist, the top minds present understood. Due to an error in their derived formula, they inadvertently altered certain rules within the range of the electromagnetic field, causing their mass, and everything else’s, to become negative. While positive mass is attracted by planetary gravity, negative mass naturally repels it.
“Crack!”
At that moment, the very research facility they were in began to plummet towards the sky. The massive structure, with its considerable mass, was effectively transported thousands of meters into the air when gravity inverted. Without sufficient buoyancy, the facility was doomed to crash violently to the ground.
Just as the facility seemed destined to fall, Wu Ge made a sudden appearance.
Clearly unaffected by the gravitational inversion, Wu Ge appeared upside-down to everyone else. Upon his arrival, his powerful spiritual force instantly enveloped the entire facility. Numerous robots converged from all directions, and together, they managed to save the research facility.
The electromagnetic generators in the sky, however, had to be abandoned.
Wu Ge said, “Immediately initiate rescue operations and recover all documents from the research facility. Although this experiment failed, it has proven the existence of the unified field equation. Failure is inevitable; do not lose heart. Continue to strive forward.”
Wu Ge’s words might have been plain, but to the ears of the scientists, they sounded like divine decrees, banishing any sentiment of failure from their hearts.
The gravity scientist spoke up, “This failure is incredibly valuable. With the data obtained from this experiment, we can significantly reduce the error in the unified field equation. We are now one step closer to mastering the four fundamental forces. Moreover, isn’t this situation exactly what we’ve dreamed of creating with an anti-gravity device?”
All the scientists were reinvigorated, their morale soaring once again.
Xiao Luo flew upside-down to Wu Ge, constantly flapping her wings to avoid being repelled by Venus’s gravity. She asked, “You were outside the range of the electromagnetic field. Did you observe any strange phenomena?”
Wu Ge pointed to the dense smoke gathering at his feet, explaining, “Shortly after the experiment began, this smoke, which was originally rising towards the sky, suddenly reversed direction and started gathering towards the ground. Then, the laboratory’s ceiling was destroyed by the electromagnetic generator.”
The accumulation of dense smoke at Wu Ge’s feet made the ground appear like a layer of clouds.
Turning to Xiao Luo, Wu Ge asked, “How does it feel to have the world turned upside down?”
Xiao Luo made a face, looking down at the sky below her feet and said, “It’s as if the vast cosmos itself is exerting a gravitational pull on me, trying to suck me into its profound darkness.”
