"Huh? Steel-Steel Fruit? I thought it was the Tofu-Tofu Fruit…" Atlas looked mockingly at Dias' corpse lying on the ground.

The battle between hunter and prey ended swiftly. Rows of Marines moved around the battlefield, cataloging their spoils.

Unfortunately, they found no valuable items, such as Devil Fruits or named swords.

The latter might still be plausible, but the former was almost always consumed immediately after discovery—after all, a Devil Fruit grants instant combat power.

Although it could fetch over 100 million Berries on the black market, the supply was scarce, making it difficult to obtain.

"So? Atlas, how's your Armament Haki coming along?" Onboard the battleship, Zephyr glanced at the calm-faced Atlas.

Atlas didn't show much excitement. To him, this was simply the natural next step.

Given his current physique and willpower, awakening Armament Haki was just a matter of time.

"Yeah, it just kind of... happened." Atlas lifted his arm. Instantly, black-and-red Haki surged around it, wrapping his limb like a blood-stained armored gauntlet.

"This level of Armament… on your first awakening?" Zephyr was slightly stunned. Atlas's Haki didn't feel like it belonged to a rookie at all.

But then again, considering the monstrous body he possessed, it all made sense.

"Come on, there's an uninhabited island ahead. Let's test out your Haki there."

Atlas was intrigued. If Zephyr could give him some pointers right after awakening his Haki, it would greatly help him define his path of future growth.

Naturally, they couldn't fight on the ship. While neither of them was yet strong enough to destroy an island with a single blow, a battleship wasn't nearly durable enough for them to cut loose.

The ship soon anchored near the deserted island. The other Marines stayed aboard, watching from a safe distance.

None of them wanted to be caught in the crossfire of a clash between these two monsters.

"Zephyr-sensei, I'm going all out! Watch yourself!" Atlas grinned as his Armament Haki coated both hands. His leg muscles tensed, and the fascia of his body stretched to the limit.

Soru! Life Return – Tekkai – War God Arm!

"Hahahaha! Come at me, brat! Don't you dare underestimate this old man!" Zephyr burst into laughter, filled with confidence.

He wasn't just any Marine—he was "Black Arm" Zephyr, one of the highest combat powers the Marines had ever produced!

Boom!

Atlas's massive, black-and-red fist collided with Zephyr's comparatively "tiny" fist, crackling with black and purple light.

The resulting shockwave rippled across the island, tearing open fissures in the ground from the point of impact.

"Hahaha! Now that's what I'm talking about!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Several heavy punches followed, but Atlas was only pushed back slightly. His body showed no signs of injury.

"You're one tough bastard. That Armament of yours is no joke. Come on, show me what you've got!" Zephyr was exhilarated. But then something strange happened.

Before Zephyr's punch even landed, Atlas felt an overwhelming force crashing toward him.

"Armament Emission!?" Atlas's expression darkened. No matter how strong his newly awakened Haki was, he was still only at the hardening stage in terms of technique.

"Hahaha, that's right. Feel the difference of Phase Two Haki."

Atlas didn't respond.

He quickly crossed his arms in front of him, coating them in thick Armament Haki. His feet dug into the ground, lowering his stance…

BOOM!

The sheer force launched Atlas over ten meters back. He didn't suffer much physically, but the ground beneath him was torn apart, leaving a deep trench.

Soru!

Without a moment's pause, Atlas shot forward, his footstep forming a crater on impact. He closed the distance to Zephyr once more.

"Tekkai Kenpo: Hundred Piercings!"

A technique Atlas had developed specifically to deal with Haki users. While it couldn't compare to the sheer penetration force of Ryuo, it could still cause some trouble, even for Zephyr.

As their fists clashed again, Zephyr felt something unusual. A subtle force seemed to slip past his Armament and strike directly at his fist.

It was minor, like a mosquito bite—but in a battle of monsters, even the smallest lapse could shift the tide.

"Not bad! That technique's got potential!"

Zephyr didn't know how Atlas came up with such a bizarre move, but it was certainly effective. This "Hundred Piercings" might've floored lesser opponents outright.

"In a fight between strong opponents, even one second of hesitation can decide everything," Zephyr noted silently.

"Zephyr-sensei, try this one next!"

Atlas smirked, his body suddenly covered in dense, crimson-black Haki. Two dark streaks extended from the corners of his eyes to his neck, giving him a strange, almost demonic beauty.

His body shrank and compressed, settling into a muscular 2.5-meter form.

"Sensei, this form is still in development. Please give me your advice."

"A fusion of Haki and Life Return?"

Zephyr murmured as he stared at the "small figure" before him, relatively speaking, of course, given his 3.48-meter height.

Flash!

In this form, Atlas seemed to defy gravity itself. With terrifying speed amplified by the Rabbit Talisman, even light seemed too slow to track him. He was like a phantom in the night.

Zephyr tensed, Observation Haki locking onto Atlas's presence—but too late!

"Armament: Tekkai Kenpo!"

Atlas's fist ballooned in size, crashing down like a meteor. The friction between his arm and the air created sparks.

Zephyr felt a suffocating pressure—like a mountain collapsing onto his chest—but braced himself and met the blow with his own Haki.

BOOOOM!!!

A thunderous shockwave swept across the island. Even the Marines on the ship felt the ringing in their ears and a dizzying pressure.

When the dust cleared, two figures stood locked in a standoff, evenly matched!

"Cough… Huff… Huff…" Suddenly, Zephyr bent over, gasping for air. His face flushed deep red.

"Huh?"

Atlas noticed something was wrong. That last exchange shouldn't have exhausted Zephyr. Then, as if remembering something—

Soru!

He instantly returned to the battleship, ignoring the shocked stares of the Marines. Without hesitation, he burst into Zephyr's quarters, smashing the door open.

Atlas poured asthma medication into Zephyr's mouth, gently patting the older man's broad back. Slowly, Zephyr's breathing stabilized, and his color returned.

It turned out Zephyr had suffered an asthma attack mid-battle. Thankfully, Atlas had heard of his condition and rushed to retrieve the medicine.

Normally, Zephyr carried it himself, but it had been knocked away during their clash.

....

Marine Headquarters, Recruit Camp – Zephyr's Office

"Zephyr-sensei, that day…" Atlas asked with concern. It had been a week since their sparring match.

Though he had managed to fight Zephyr to a draw with that last attack, Atlas knew better than to think he was already on the level of the Marine's strongest.

"It's nothing, just an old issue," Zephyr replied dismissively.

He had seen many doctors over the years, but the accumulated damage from decades of battle had left his asthma incurable.

Atlas didn't press the topic. After all, Zephyr was a former Admiral and the current chief instructor of the recruit camp, with access to medical resources far beyond Atlas's reach.

Changing the subject, Zephyr brought up their fight. "How long can you maintain that form you used?"

"Hmm… I think I can keep it up for quite a while." Atlas wasn't entirely sure.

"If I'm not mistaken, you're combining Life Return and Haki. That form probably burns through both stamina and Haki at a rapid rate."

"Yeah, you're right. My Life Return isn't fully mastered yet, so the power output is still lacking. But I'm not too worried about stamina or Haki reserves—I feel like I have way more Haki than most people."

As he spoke, Atlas covered his entire body in Haki again. "I think I could maintain full-body coverage for days without running dry."

Zephyr's pupils contracted. He couldn't hide the shock on his face. "You remind me of someone… a pirate with monstrous talent."

"Oh? Who?"

"Douglas Bullet."

"Bullet?" Atlas frowned. That name didn't ring a bell from the original timeline.

"Douglas Bullet, known as the 'Demon Heir,' former member of the Roger Pirates. In the year 1501, at just 22 years old, the Marines launched a Buster Call against him.

"He only lost because he ran out of stamina. Garp and Sengoku were among the officers involved in his capture. He's currently imprisoned in Impel Down Level 6."

"His body was a powerhouse, and his Haki reserves were terrifying—just like yours."

Zephyr's tone grew heavier. Though he hadn't personally fought Bullet, hearing the story from Garp and Sengoku had left a deep impression.

Atlas was surprised, but showed no fear. To him, these legends were just stepping stones on his path to becoming the strongest.

"Never underestimate anyone. This sea is never short of monsters," Zephyr warned sternly.

"Yes, Zephyr-sensei!" Atlas responded firmly. He understood well—even a lion goes all out to hunt a rabbit.

"Zephyr-sensei… there's one more thing I need to report to you…"

......

Knock knock knock... knock knock knock...

"Come in!"

"Recruit Atlas, reporting to Fleet Admiral Sengoku!" Atlas marched to Sengoku's desk and gave a crisp salute.

Sengoku, hearing the voice, reluctantly looked up from his documents. He adjusted his frog-like glasses and revealed his familiar look — bushy hair and braided beard.

"Is there something you need, Captain Atlas?"

Sengoku looked a bit puzzled. Technically, Atlas should still be undergoing recruit training. At this stage, there shouldn't be any direct interaction between them.

"Reporting, Fleet Admiral Sengoku! Recruit Atlas is applying for early graduation after the new year!"

"Oh? Can you tell me the reason?"

"I believe the Marine Recruit Camp no longer provides a significant benefit to my growth. At this point, real combat is the best nourishment for me. I'm ready to step onto the world stage!"

After a brief pause, Atlas smiled and continued, "Besides… I imagine the pirates out there are eagerly awaiting the arrival of fear itself."

Thump... thump... thump...

Sengoku gently tapped his desk, a sharp gleam flickering in his wise eyes. He was pondering what kind of variables Atlas's debut might introduce to his grand strategy.

As the Marines' "Strategic General," Sengoku never issued a single command lightly — his every move was deeply tied to the lives of countless people around the world.

"Very well, I understand. Have you spoken with Zephyr about this?" After a moment of thought, Sengoku finally returned to the conversation.

After all, Zephyr was the Chief Instructor of the Recruit Camp. Any early graduation had to pass through his approval.

"Yes, I've already spoken with Instructor Zephyr. He fully supports my decision."

Atlas had come prepared — this visit was suggested by Zephyr himself after hearing word of Sengoku's upcoming deployment strategies in the New World.

Sengoku understood immediately. So, after two years in the Recruit Camp, Atlas was no longer content with idleness.

A man like him was always destined for the brutal battlefield. After hearing Atlas's bold declaration, Sengoku already had a good idea of where to send him after graduation.

"Alright then, you may leave for now. I'll notify you of the content of your graduation trial in due time."

Originally, Atlas had told Zephyr he wanted to graduate from the Recruit Camp immediately.

From his perspective, he had already learned everything necessary, even awakened his Armament Haki.

Staying in the Camp any longer felt like a waste of time. He believed real combat experience might hone his Haki even further.

But Zephyr firmly rejected that idea. In his eyes, Atlas's Haki had only just awakened.

At the very least, Atlas needed to master the basics of Armament Haki before being allowed to graduate.

Additionally, Atlas had yet to fully master Life Return — he could currently only channel his consciousness into his arms.

While he remained in the Camp, Zephyr could provide direct guidance in this area. Once Atlas truly mastered Life Return, he'd be nearly unstoppable in Paradise.

Even when facing powerful pirates from the New World, he would be more than capable of putting up a serious fight.
