Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Arlong Pirates? What the Hell Is That?

"You two must be from out of town, huh?" The sharp-nosed fish-man casually rested one hand on Qin Chuan's shoulder and the other on Douglas Bullet's, speaking in a leisurely tone.

"What of it? Is there a problem?" Qin Chuan turned, confused, and looked at him.

"Haha! Do you even know whose turf this is?" The sharp-nosed fish-man let out a loud, arrogant laugh.

"Whose turf?"

"Ever heard of the Arlong Pirates? This is our turf now!" the sharp-nosed fish-man declared proudly.

"Oh, so it's the Arlong Pirates, huh? No wonder that flag outside looked so familiar. Turns out it's from that worthless pirate crew led by that trash."

Hearing this, realization dawned on Qin Chuan.

Arlong himself was a fish-man and a former officer of the Sun Pirates. After leaving that crew, he established his own pirate crew.

After returning from the Grand Line, Arlong began his plan to conquer the East Blue, attacking village after village, taking over more than twenty, including Cocoyasi Village—Nami's hometown—where he established his so-called "Arlong Empire."

As for Douglas Bullet, having been imprisoned for twenty years, he naturally had no idea what had happened in the outside world during that time.

"Is this Arlong Pirates group supposed to be strong?" he asked flatly.

"They claim to be the strongest pirates in the East Blue, but their captain's bounty is only 20 million Berries. What do you think?"

Hearing that explanation, Douglas Bullet nearly burst out laughing in disbelief.

Twenty million Berries? His finger alone was worth more than that. And this was supposed to be the most notorious pirate crew in the East Blue? It only highlighted how weak this sea really was.

"Oi, brat, what the hell did you just say? Calling our captain trash? You've got a death wish!"

The sharp-nosed fish-man's expression darkened, furious that this seemingly ordinary young man dared to speak such arrogance.

At the same time, the other fish-men in the tavern who overheard Qin Chuan's remarks all stood up, hostility radiating from their bodies.

"Hey, Douglas Bullet—I haven't seen you fight yet. I've heard stories about your strength. Why don't you show me what you've got here?"

Qin Chuan suddenly proposed casually.

Sure, he could've easily handled these small fry himself to gain a bit of reputation points, but that would waste one of his "possession usage attempts."

Each possession attempt required 1,000 reputation points to replenish. And even if he wiped out all of these small fry, the total reward probably wouldn't add up to that.

Right now, even after the haul he got from Impel Down, he only had around 400,000 reputation points—still not enough to redeem a Hashirama Senju character card.

So why bother with this petty work? Besides, he was curious to see how powerful this legendary figure—one said to rival the likes of "Dark King" Rayleigh—truly was.

After hearing Qin Chuan's suggestion, Douglas Bullet sneered.

"You're insulting me."

Without waiting for a reply, Bullet shot forward, instantly appearing in front of the sharp-nosed fish-man.

Before the fish-man even had time to react, Bullet's fists had already turned pitch-black, shimmering with a metallic sheen.

The next second—that seemingly unbreakable fist smashed right into the fish-man's face.

BOOM!

With a muffled thud, the sharp-nosed fish-man was sent flying right out of the tavern.

"Kill them!!" the other fish-men shouted furiously, preparing to pounce.

But before they could make a move, Douglas Bullet was already in their midst.

Moments later, the tavern was filled with fallen fish-men, none of whom were left breathing.

The tavern owner, holding two glasses of rum, froze in place, utterly terrified by the scene before him.

Douglas Bullet calmly walked back over, took the glasses of rum from the owner, and handed one to Qin Chuan.

"Oi, isn't that a bit overkill? Using Armament Haki just to deal with some nobodies?" Qin Chuan chuckled as he accepted the glass.

Armament Haki was one of the three types of Haki. It greatly enhanced both offense and defense, allowing its user to strike even Logia-type Devil Fruit users—making it an invaluable combat tool.

And seeing Bullet's skin darken into that metallic black, Qin Chuan immediately recognized it as Armament Haki.

Its most distinctive feature was its ability to turn the user's body as hard as steel.

"Hmph, so you know what Armament Haki is. You wanted me to show off, didn't you? So I gave you a small taste. You should understand now how powerful we from that era truly were," Bullet said casually before downing a large gulp of his drink.

"Hmph, I know more than you think. For example, I'm pretty sure that so-called Arlong and his band of bottom-feeding trash will be here soon to cause trouble for us."

As Qin Chuan spoke, he took a sip of his rum—and instantly choked on the burn.

"Damn, this stuff's that strong?!"

"Hahaha! Kid, you're still wet behind the ears. Rum is one of the strongest liquors in this world. I was downing mugs of this stuff when I was fifteen!"

Seeing Qin Chuan's reaction, Douglas Bullet couldn't help but laugh heartily for the first time in a long while.

"Tch, boring."

After trying another couple of sips, Qin Chuan found that Maotai from his original world tasted better, so he set the glass aside with a slight grimace.

Just then, the tavern owner, having finally gathered his wits, spoke nervously:

"Gentlemen… you should leave quickly! When Arlong's officers get here, you won't be able to escape!"
