Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Recruiting Crew Members

Upon hearing that Qin Chuan actually recognized him, Douglas Bullet was momentarily stunned.

He had been gone from this world for so long that even the Marine higher-ups had forgotten that such a terrifying figure was still imprisoned in Impel Down.

Yet now, this young man standing before him actually knew who he was—something that truly surprised him.

"You… actually know who I am… Seems like you're not as simple as you look," Douglas Bullet muttered as he struggled to his feet.

Seeing the man admit his identity, Qin Chuan was equally astonished. After all, he'd thought this guy was already dead.

Douglas Bullet was a former member of the Roger Pirates, known for his overwhelming strength. Even within Roger's crew, his companions referred to him as a monster.

He was once hailed as the "Demon Heir", a man whose strength crushed all others. His power was said to rival even "Dark King" Rayleigh, Roger's right-hand man, making him far stronger than any of the other pirates imprisoned on this floor.

However, like the others, Bullet was shackled with Impel Down's special sea prism stone cuffs, rendering his abilities useless.

And on top of that, Qin Chuan was using the near self-destructive Seventh Gate of the Eight Inner Gates to fight—no wonder these legendary pirates seemed so helpless against him.

"Douglas Bullet, I know all about you. Actually—I quite admire you. That's why I'm giving you two choices."

"One—join me, and I'll lead you out of this dark, hopeless place."

"Two—you refuse, I beat you into submission, and you stay locked in here forever, never to rise again. Your choice."

Qin Chuan had thought long and hard before making this offer.

After all, Douglas Bullet's strength far exceeded that of the others here. Even Dark King Rayleigh couldn't defeat him. Having a powerhouse like this by his side would dramatically increase Qin Chuan's overall strength.

Now that he had completely gone against the World Government, Qin Chuan knew full well that many dangers awaited him.

And if he had someone like Douglas Bullet as his right hand, he wouldn't have to handle everything himself anymore.

"Hah! You expect an old monster like me to follow a little brat like you? You've got to be insane," Bullet sneered with disdain.

He was, after all, a relic of an older, mightier era. His strength terrifying, his pride enormous. Though Qin Chuan had defeated him, it was only because he'd been powerless, shackled and suppressed. Naturally, Bullet wasn't willing to submit so easily.

These pirates respected one thing only—power. Whoever was stronger had the right to speak.

So even if Qin Chuan had saved him, Bullet wasn't impressed.

"I know you only believe in your own strength. And I know that more than anything… you desire to be the Pirate King."

"But unlike the others—you're not after treasure. No… your goal is domination. You want to earn the title through combat, not by chasing Roger's old path."

"Even if I handed you the Log Pose to Raftel right now—you wouldn't take it."

"What you want is to surpass Roger, to be the strongest in the world. To kill all the great powers on the seas—all the Emperors, all the Admirals. Isn't that right?"

Qin Chuan's words struck like a thunderclap, shaking Douglas Bullet to the core. His heart was in complete turmoil.

Everything Qin Chuan said was spot on—it was as if he could read Bullet's very soul.

If Qin Chuan hadn't literally just walked up from the lower floors of the prison, Bullet would have suspected that this kid had been eavesdropping on his dreams.

Seeing Douglas Bullet standing there in stunned silence, Qin Chuan knew he'd hit the mark perfectly.

"If you really want to be Pirate King—if you really want to defeat the world's strongest—then you should join me."

"Because I want the same thing."

"Let's conquer the world together. And when we stand at the top of everything—then, you and I will settle it, once and for all."

Taking advantage of Bullet's internal struggle, Qin Chuan pressed the advantage.

Bullet also knew deep down how bad his situation was. He wasn't like the Golden Lion Shiki—he had no way of escaping this hellhole on his own.

And if he missed this chance, once Marine reinforcements arrived, the defenses of Impel Down would be strengthened yet again.

By that point, even if Shiki himself returned, escape would be impossible.

After considering everything, Bullet finally made a decision.

"…What's your name?"

"Qin Chuan."

"You get me out of here… I'll follow you for now. And I'll guarantee your life stays intact. But know this—if we really do stand at the pinnacle one day, then I'll be your greatest enemy."

Douglas Bullet said it with cold, serious resolve.

"No problem. Deal."

Qin Chuan extended his hand.

Douglas Bullet slowly reached out his own, and in the dark confines of Impel Down—they shook hands, forming a partnership that could shake the entire world.

But at that moment, a system notification echoed in Qin Chuan's mind.

Ding! The Might Guy character card's usage time has expired. Host has now returned to original state. Please be advised.

The moment the sound ended, Qin Chuan's body reverted to his original form.

Though the Might Guy avatar was gone, the backlash of using the Eight Inner Gates remained.

After all, it was still Qin Chuan's physical body that had been performing all that exertion.

As soon as the Eight Gates deactivated, Qin Chuan collapsed to the ground.

His natural body was far weaker than Might Guy's. Now, with the massive toll of opening the Seventh Gate, he was wracked with stabbing pain from head to toe.
