One Piece: Start by Saving Roger, I Was Invited to Join the Crew

Chapter 95: Chapter 95: You are the Godfather of my Child

Cold sweat broke out on Reid's forehead, and his heartbeat quickened. Although he was confident in his healing abilities, seeing Rogue in such pain made him extremely nervous.

Beside him, Whitibe and the female assistants were also anxiously waiting.

Fortunately, the tension didn't last long—Reid smiled.

"Ah, thank goodness, she's okay now." Reid let out a breath of relief as Rogue slowly sat up on her own.

Whitibe stepped forward to support her and asked with concern, "Rogue, how are you feeling?"

"I... I'm fine. I don't feel any pain anymore."

Rogue looked a little dazed. She turned to Reid and asked, "Reid, was that you?"

Reid nodded. "Yeah. You were in a very dangerous condition just now. Luckily, I arrived in time."

"A miracle doctor!" one of the elderly women exclaimed, her wrinkled face filled with shock and astonishment.

"He's so handsome—and such incredible medical skills!" the young assistants looked at Reid with admiration in their eyes.

"Amazing..." Whitibe's eyes sparkled. Then joy filled her heart. "If Reid's medical skills are this incredible, maybe we can finally relieve Father's long-standing physical burden."

"Sister-in-law Rogue, let's step outside for now. Roger is really worried about you."

"Okay."

As the door opened, Roger immediately rushed over.

"Rogue! Rogue!" he called out nervously, visibly emotional.

"Look at you," Rogue said with a gentle smile to ease his worry. "I'm fine now. Reid healed me."

"Ah, that's such a relief. Thank you so much, Reid—my dear brother," Roger said as he patted Reid on the shoulder gratefully.

"No need to thank me. We're sworn brothers—like family."

"Heh, meeting a brother like you is my greatest fortune," Roger beamed, clearly overwhelmed with emotion.

Reid also felt a strong sense of accomplishment. He had first saved Roger and now saved Rogue.

Marco, who had been observing, was shocked. He was amazed at how Reid had managed to make Rogue look completely fine in such a short time, as if she hadn't been suffering at all.

Unable to hold back, Marco stepped forward. "Reid, you were only in there for a few minutes and already...?"

As a ship's doctor himself, Marco knew that healing someone shouldn't be that quick. Reid had only gone in briefly and then come right out. If he didn't get some answers, he probably wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.

What Marco didn't know was that, aside from a bit of conversation, Reid had healed Rogue in an instant—it hadn't even taken a full minute.

"Well..." Reid looked at Roger, unsure how to explain. Should he just say it was luck?

"It's okay, no need to explain if it's inconvenient," Marco said quickly, scratching his head and laughing awkwardly.

"It's fine, actually..." Reid was about to speak when Roger suddenly stopped him.

Roger glanced at Whitebeard, who nodded solemnly, a troubled expression on his face. He understood Roger's concern.

"Marco, I'll explain everything to you later. Just keep it between us," Whitebeard said flatly. Reid had used such an extraordinary method that not explaining anything to Marco would be inappropriate.

As the second-in-command of the Whitebeard Pirates and one of Whitebeard's most trusted sons, Marco could be told in confidence. Whitebeard was sure Marco wouldn't spread it, and everyone else understood not to pry.

"Looks like Pops already knows," Marco thought to himself.

"Since Pops knows Reid's medical skills are impressive, I wonder if he'll ask for treatment himself," Whitibe wondered inwardly.

Meanwhile, outside, Teach was growing increasingly restless. He didn't understand why Roger insisted on bringing Reid. Teach was already suspicious of Reid and desperately wanted to know his secret.

"Huh? Why don't I hear that woman's screams anymore?" Teach muttered as he pushed forward.

The room couldn't accommodate all the members of the Roger and Whitebeard Pirates, so most were still waiting outside.

"Teach, stop pushing!" Jozu smacked him lightly on the head.

"Heh heh heh, sorry, Jozu. I was just curious and wanted a closer look," Teach laughed as he rubbed his head apologetically.

Inside the room, everyone let out a sigh of relief—the heavy tension had finally lifted.

"You're all dismissed. You're not needed anymore," Roger said, waving his hand. Honestly, he was still a little angry. If not for Reid, the consequences would've been unthinkable.

"Oh, yes. We'll take our leave." One of the older women responded cautiously.

The remaining elderly woman and three young assistants carefully backed away—they were, after all, standing before infamous pirates.

"My lady, let me help you lie down."

"No need. I want to stand for a bit. Lying down too long makes me tired." Rogue touched her belly, a faint trace of worry appearing on her face.

"Madam, are you feeling unwell?"

"No, it's just... the due date has passed, and Ace still hasn't been born." Rogue looked worried, her eyes downcast.

Roger frowned and turned to Reid. "Do you know what's going on?"

Reid was also confused. After all, he had only relied on the system—he didn't actually have real medical knowledge.

"I don't know either... Maybe the time hasn't come yet. It could be today, tomorrow, or in a few days..." Reid's voice trailed off uncertainty. He really had no clue.

"I don't understand."

"Roger, let's just wait a bit longer. After all, Reid is here," said Whitebeard.

"Yes, yes. Reid, don't continue your training with Rayleigh for now."

"I understand. Even if you didn't say it, Roger, I wouldn't leave," Reid nodded. After what happened today, if he still insisted on going off to train with Rayleigh, that would be incredibly inconsiderate.

"Let's go outside," Roger said as he supported Rogue and helped her out of the house.

As soon as they stepped outside, Dorinco came up and asked, "Captain, how is Lady Rogue?"

"Hehe~ I'm fine," Rogue replied with a sweet and gentle smile.

"That's great! Lady Rogue is safe!" Dorinco flew into the air and shouted the news to everyone.

"Hahahaha! As expected of Brother Reid!" Nozdon clapped his fists together, his face full of joy, smiling in his usual simple way.

"Of course! Brother Reid is not just anyone—his medical skills are unmatched," the fish-man Sanbel said with a wide grin, boasting on Reid's behalf.

"Hm? Medical skills? Reid is also a doctor?"

"Huh? Medical skills? Reid is also a doctor?" Teach's eyes widened in surprise. It was already rare enough for someone to possess both Haki and a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, let alone also be a doctor.

However, at this point, Teach simply thought Reid was a relatively skilled physician. He had no idea how truly miraculous Reid's medical abilities were—he could heal someone in an instant.

Roger turned to Whitebeard and said somewhat apologetically, "Whitebeard, as you've seen, we may need to delay our trip to Wano Country."

Whitebeard nodded and replied, "Of course, Roger. But are you certain Oden is still safe?"

"Yes, there's still time. As soon as Rogue gives birth, we'll set out immediately." Roger's eyes were resolute as he gave a firm nod.

"Alright then. Just let me know if you need anything—I won't refuse."

Roger grinned, "Heh, then I won't be polite with you."

"Hahahahahaha!" Whitebeard laughed heartily. "Then we'll take a walk around the rest of the island. We don't want to get in your way."

"Hahaha, Whitebeard, don't go too far—you're going to be Ace's godfather," Roger suddenly said.

His words shocked everyone present.

"What… this development…? Even though I'm changing the course of fate, Ace still ends up calling Whitebeard godfather—or rather, dad... Wait, does that mean Ace will still join the Whitebeard Pirates in the future?"

Even Reid found this hard to believe. Fate truly worked in mysterious ways.

Whitebeard looked flustered—embarrassed, a bit moved, excited, and clearly happy.

"Roger, I didn't agree to that," Whitebeard said with a grin.

"Hahaha, what, you're not willing?" Roger looked smugly at him.

"Hahahahahaha! Alright then—for the sake of his father being the Pirate King Gol D. Roger, I'll accept," Whitebeard laughed, raising his bisento in triumphant salute.
