Chapter 3: Ch 3. Sign-in to Ohara, Mastery of Bakudō
[Ding!Sign-In Task Issued: Ohara]
Reward: Mastery of Bakudō 1-99 (Top-Level Binding Spell).
[Time Limit: 3 Days!]
The mechanical prompt echoed in Roman's mind.
At this moment, Roman had no idea he had been posted under a 2 billion berry bounty. He was currently racing at full speed towards Ohara.
Suddenly, his sharp gaze caught a figure on the distant ocean. A woman clung weakly to a floating plank, drifting across the waves.
Without hesitation, Roman swooped down and pulled her ashore.
The woman, drenched and pale, slowly opened her eyes. Seeing Roman, cloaked and alone, she let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you for saving me," she said softly.
"My name is Olvia."
As her words fell, she noticed the ship's direction — heading straight for Ohara.
Dread flashed in her eyes.
"You're going to Ohara? It's extremely dangerous there right now!"
Roman simply responded, his voice calm and indifferent.
"It's fine. Since we're both going, let's not waste time."
Two days later.
At dawn.
Several Marine battleships, bearing the World Government's flag, anchored quietly near Ohara.
On the deck, Spandine stood tall, gazing at the island heavily shrouded in mist.
A cruel, twisted smile appeared on his face.
Finally, they had arrived.
The island of sinners — Ohara.
He licked his lips.
"I wonder if that woman who jumped into the sea is still alive...
What a pity I couldn't kill her personally."
Laughing coldly, Spandine led his forces ashore.
His boots landed, and he swaggered across Ohara's soil.
He lifted his chin high, nose to the sky, full of disdain.
"This island is a miserable wasteland.
How the hell do these rats survive?
Honestly, wiping them all out would be doing them a favor."
His men exchanged uneasy glances, cold sweat dripping down their backs.
They had seen Spandine's cruelty before.
They knew he meant every word.
"My lord..." one soldier crafted his words carefully,
"Shouldn't we first investigate the Tree of Knowledge?
Maybe Olvia left behind something dangerous—"
Bang!
Before he could finish, Spandine pulled the trigger of his pistol.
The soldier fell dead.
"Since when do I need you to tell me what to do?" Spandine sneered.
Without another word, he strode toward the Tree of Knowledge.
[Ding! Sign-In Successful!
Reward Acquired: Mastery of Bakudō 1- 99!]
(Bakudō: A branch of kido from the "Bleach" world, focused on binding and defense.
High-level bakudō can immobilize thousands with a single thought.)
Roman's mind calmly accepted the system's reward.
Just then —
Gunfire shattered Ohara's peaceful vicinity.
Roman's lips curled into a faint smile.
"Looks like we arrived just in time."
Meanwhile, in contrast, Olvia's heart trembled with panic.
Without hesitation, she sprinted toward the Tree of Knowledge.
Roman, hands leisurely behind his back, followed at a steady pace.
At the Tree of Knowledge—
Spandine spotted a small figure racing toward the tree.
A little girl.
Without hesitation, he waved his hand.
"Special Intelligence Division — execute the mission! Any unauthorized intruder — shoot on sight!"
His men hesitated.
"But, sir... It's just a child..."
Slap!
Spandine's palm struck the soldier's face viciously.
"Want to join your comrade from earlier?"
Thrust between the crossroads of life and death, the soldier quickly chose his life.
"N-No, sir!"
"Then aim and fire!
The people of Ohara deserve no mercy!"
His men gritted their teeth and raised their rifles.
Imagining the slaughter ensuing brought a twisted smile to his face.
Little Robin stood frozen, staring at the cold gun barrels pointed at her.
Inside the Tree of Knowledge, the scholars, deep in their research, were oblivious to the chaos outside. Robin, kindhearted and brave, had come to warn them, but now she was face to face with death herself.
'Am I... going to die here?'
Tears welled up in her eyes.
She thought of her mother. How long had it been since she had seen her?
Maybe... she would never see her again.
"ROBIN!!!"
Suddenly, a desperate voice tore through the chaos.
It was Olvia!
She charged forward with all her strength, arms outstretched.
With a final leap, she shielded Robin with her own body.
"Don't hurt her!" Olvia cried, her back turned toward the soldiers.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunfire erupted.
Bullets screamed through the air.
Time slowed to a crawl.
Robin, feeling her mother's warmth, burst into tears.
"Nooo!!!"
Just then.
Roman raised a finger.
He pointed lightly at the air before him.
A whisper escaped his lips.
"Bakudō #64 — Reverse Mirror."
A translucent circular shield materialized in front of Olvia and Robin.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Bullets struck the shield — and then ricocheted back with doubled speed!
Caught off guard, the soldiers could only watch in horror as their bullets pierced into their ranks.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Spandine's eyes widened in terror.
Without thinking, he yanked a subordinate in front of him, using the man's body as a human shield.
Roman stood silently, the wind ruffling his cloak.
Olvia and Robin slowly opened their eyes.
They were alive.
Safe.
They turned their heads, looking toward Roman in disbelief.
The man who had saved them...was far stronger than they could have ever imagined.
