Chapter 28: Ch 28. Endless Despair, Power of a Single Punch

The endless sea stretched out in all directions, with a lone Admiral-class warship slicing through the waves. On its deck stood two figures—Roman and Kalifa.

Behind them, a hundred phantom illusion clones moved in perfect synchrony, operating the ship like a well-oiled machine.

Kalifa held a wanted poster in her hand as she turned to speak, her voice calm and precise.

"Roman, it's confirmed. The fleet of fifty pirate ships ahead belongs to the most notorious group in East Blue—the Krieg Pirates."

"Their leader goes by the title 'Admiral' and is dubbed the Ruler of East Blue. Estimated crew count: around 4,500."

"From what we know, they've just entered the Grand Line."

The cloak of justice on Roman's back billowed in the ocean wind, flapping with authority.

His eyes narrowed as he looked toward the distant fleet. His tone was light, but cold.

"Seventeen million Berries in bounty… and yet they think they're ready for the Grand Line? How foolish. They might as well give up now."

A small smirk made its way to Kalifa's lips.

"Actually, Krieg is quite lucky. He just stepped into the Grand Line and already gets to meet an Admiral… Most can only dream of such an honor."

But as she looked at the Krieg fleet again, her brows furrowed in confusion.

"Wait… what are they doing? Are they trying to surround us?"

She watched the ships fan out and approach from all sides. Kalifa couldn't help but laugh.

"Do they not even know what kind of warship this is? It represents Admiral-level combat power!"

"And an Admiral… is top-tier combat strength in the Marines!"

Roman stood still, calm and unfazed.

"Don't be surprised," he said faintly. "They're just frogs from the bottom of a well."

At that moment, a voice boomed from the fleet in the distance—Don Krieg himself, speaking through a loudspeaker Den-Den Mushi.

"Hey! Marines ship up ahead! You're about to be surrounded by the mighty Krieg Pirates! Kneel now, and I might let you die with intact corpses! Wahahahaha!"

The arrogant laughter made Roman frown ever so slightly.

"Noisy."

And then—BOOM!

The hundred phantoms on the warship scattered into the mist.

Before anyone could react, Roman appeared high in the sky above the ocean.

"H-He's flying?!"

"That's impossible! How is a human flying?!"

"He's gotta be a monster in human skin!"

The Krieg pirates panicked, shouting nonsense.

Krieg growled, trying to regain control.

"Shut up! It's just a Devil Fruit user! What are you all so scared of?! You think I haven't killed one before? It's just—"

He never finished his sentence.

A massive shadow engulfed the entire fleet.

"Susanoo."

An enormous, terrifying figure loomed in the sky, like a towering demon. Roman stood at its forehead, arms folded, cloaked in a darkened-purple spectral armor.

Peak-level Armament Haki coiled around the giant avatar.

His voice echoed coldly into the ears of the pirates:

"So weak… Don't embarrass yourselves by entering into the Grand Line."

BOOM!!!

A titanic fist, hundreds of meters long, crashed down without mercy.

As it descended, it filled the pirates' vision—so massive, it swallowed the sky itself. It gave birth to a sense of crushing, endless despair in their hearts.

"I-Is this… the kind of monster that lives in the Grand Line?!"

"T-Terrifying!"

"S-Someone save me!!"

"Captain! Captain—save us!"

"Wait… where's the captain?!"

Krieg, who had been arrogantly standing on deck just seconds ago, had vanished without a trace.

And then—

CRAAACK!!!

Susanoo's fist slammed into the ocean, splitting the sea like cracked earth.

A massive crater formed in the water, then the sea rushed in to fill it, creating a colossal vortex!

WAVES erupted into the sky, a hundred meters high, crashing down on the pirate fleet.

Dozens of ships were shattered. Thousands of pirates were flung into the sea.

The crater turned into a whirlpool, spinning violently—like a bottomless maw devouring every living thing in sight!

On the warship, Kalifa's face turned pale. She rushed into the control room, gripping the helm with all her strength.

The whirlpool was so strong, even their ship was at risk.

"This punch… It's too powerful!"

"Just one punch… and nearly five thousand pirates are gone!"

Roman floated silently in the sky, arms folded, his expression indifferent.

He was like a god passing judgment.

The youngest Admiral in Marine history—White Dove.

Watching the sea cleanse itself of pirates, Roman muttered,

"Finally, some peace and quiet."

The phantom illusion giant Susanoo scattered into mist. Roman descended back onto the ship.

"Phantom Creation."

In an instant, one hundred phantoms reappeared, taking their positions and operating the ship smoothly.

Kalifa stepped out from the control room, her forehead glistening with sweat.

Roman smiled softly.

"You worked hard."

Kalifa, who had been ready to scold him for nearly capsizing them, saw his gentle smile… and changed her tone immediately.

"It's nothing. This is my duty."

Time passed. The sea calmed.

Now, only Roman's warship sailed across the endless ocean.

"Kalifa, how many days have we been out?"

"Five."

She adjusted her glasses, flipping through her notebook.

"We've taken down seven pirate crews. Combined bounty: over ten billion."

Roman nodded.

"Let's pause here for now. Check if there's an island nearby—we need to resupply."

Kalifa flipped to another page, like a personal secretary.

"Nearby islands: Cocoyasi Village and Drum Island. But Drum Island is currently closed due to Wapol's Royal succession. Only local ships can dock."

Roman smirked.

"Then let's head to Cocoyasi Village and restock."

He hadn't gone there directly after leaving Marineford.

Instead, he'd hunted pirates all along the way—deliberately controlling his pace, drawing a path that led him closer to Cocoyasi.

Everything was unfolding… exactly as Roman had planned.
