One Piece: Revenge of the Slaves

Chapter 98: OPRS: Chapter 98

The Wind Shell and Impact Shell's importance highlighted the other Shells.

Light and Flash Shells, Heat and Flame Shells, were variations of the same shell; stronger versions were Flame and Flash Shells, Impact Shells; weaker versions were Light, Heat, and Wind Shells.

Slash, Impact, and Impact Shells were also variations, depending on whether they absorbed slashing, impact, or stronger concussive force.

But these weren't their greatest discovery.

The dancing snake moved its throat, spitting out stones and rubble.

Mixed in were numerous gold nuggets.

These weren't Shandora's main gold reserves, but the sheer volume was astonishing.

Everyone was shocked by the gold.

The gold fell to the ground with a dull thud.

It was like a waterfall.

The Straw Hats, entering the snake, could only carry a limited amount; still, the gold was worth 300 million Berries, funding the Thousand Sunny.

Considering an Adam Tree was worth 300 million Berries, building the ship likely cost over 500 million Berries.

Franky's involvement provided free labor; he essentially subsidized the Thousand Sunny.

But the Straw Hats (excluding Robin) had six members; Chopper, Usopp, and Nami carried little; only three main members (Note 1) could carry much gold; the gold's volume limited their capacity.

"Oh!" Enel narrowed his eyes. "So much gold. I miscalculated."

Alistair turned to him, remembering something.

This gold wasn't Shandora's main reserve.

Enel, after becoming god, used gold to build the Ark Maxim; its framework was likely gold; otherwise, his lightning couldn't power the wooden propellers.

He knew where the vast wealth was.

"Do you know where the Shandorians' gold is?"

"Hmph, follow me." Defeated, Enel was more subdued; his arrogance in the original story stemmed from his invincibility; any Sky Islander with Haki would have prevented his arrogance.

Enel showed a strong spirit: accepting defeat, standing tall when beaten. Alistair's respect pleased him—he was Enel, a Logia user; being cuffed was humiliating.

But Alistair trusted him not to flee, removing his Seastone cuffs; Enel reciprocated.

He answered Alistair's questions honestly; being defeated, he was pleased to be uncuffed.

He wanted to taunt them; he transformed into lightning, swiftly moving through the forest.

"He's escaping!" Ace shouted.

"Catch him." Alistair casually put on Impact Shell-enhanced shoes; these were good for short-distance travel and combat, a lower-spec version of Ace's flame propulsion.

Ace smirked, flames erupting from his feet, transforming into a human torch, chasing Enel.

This was similar to the Human Torch's abilities but different; his elemental form had negligible mass; combined with flame propulsion, he matched lightning speed.

This was an ability Ace hadn't developed in the original story but developed under Alistair's guidance.

If the original Ace was a stationary cannon, the current Ace was a mobile meteor; Blackbeard couldn't catch him; he could stand against Akainu.

He chased Enel; the others followed.

Mihar and Van Augur, like the Shandorians, used Impact Shells; these were strategic resources, but temporarily useful; Lafitte followed; Hancock and Dalton, without Impact Shells, used their martial arts skills, keeping pace with the others.

Impact Shells saved energy for strong fighters.

Technology's purpose is to save effort.

Impact Shell boots were a good invention.

But they differed strategically from air cannons or long-range sniper rifles.

Alistair thought as he moved through the jungle.

Many were surprised; they thought he couldn't handle the Impact Shells, but he'd ice-skated before…

His physical abilities were weak by this world's standards but top-tier in his own; Impact Shells were fast, but essentially ice-skating.

He was a skilled ice skater.

Their speed was far inferior to the two Logia users.

But Enel and Ace left marks—lightning-struck trees and burning wood; the Shandorians, after four hundred years, didn't mind; they extinguished the fires.

Ten minutes later, they reached the Shandorians' ancestral ruins.

The giant gold city, untouched by Enel, lay in an underground cavern, awaiting its owners.

"Excellent," Alistair smiled, contrasting with everyone's shock.

"This gold will be our foundation."
