One Piece: Revenge of the Slaves

Chapter 97: OPRS: Chapter 97

Numerous Shells were presented to Alistair.

Alistair examined them, demonstrating their uses, even without extensive mechanical knowledge.

Dalton and the others examined the Shells.

Few pirates possessed strategic vision.

The Straw Hats, after conquering Skypiea, took some Shells as souvenirs.

These Shells could have significantly boosted Usopp's combat abilities, but the Straw Hats didn't realize it.

Chopper, using Impact Shells while in his Kung Fu Point and Impact Shells during his Heavy Point, would be incredibly strong.

Usopp, even without modifying the Wind Shell into a weapon, could use the Slash Shell like a high-precision sniper rifle; the Slash Shell could be as effective as one of Zoro's attacks.

Unfortunately, the Straw Hats didn't see this.

Alistair, however, valued these Shells; his attitude influenced the revolutionary pirates.

"Van Augur, dismantle a gun barrel."

Mihar and Van Augur immediately perked up, realizing the Wind Shell's application.

They were the most attentive and insightful during the sniper training.

Understanding the gun's basic principles, they knew what Alistair was thinking.

They were experts in gunpowder and pneumatics.

They knew that compressing air into the barrel would propel the bullet.

They weren't sure if it would match gunpowder's power.

This involved pressure knowledge; their lack of understanding was normal.

But as snipers, they were familiar with gun modification; they quickly disassembled a musket and crudely attached the Wind Shell to the barrel; the musket's large barrel made this easier.

They loaded a bullet, aimed at a tree fifteen meters away, and pressed the Wind Shell.

With a whoosh, almost silently, the bullet was fired, embedding itself deeply in the wood.

"So quiet," everyone exclaimed in surprise. The Wind Shell lacked the smoke and noise of gunpowder; only a brief expulsion sound was heard.

But the snipers' eyes lit up, yet their brows furrowed.

They told Alistair frankly, "It's useful, but weak."

"Too weak for ordinary soldiers, too close for us. A revolver might be useful," Mihar explained.

Alistair nodded. "But these are strategic resources. In the Calm Belt, these might allow passage."

Hancock and Dalton gasped; everyone remembered the Calm Belt's lack of wind.

The Wind Shells could break the Navy's monopoly on the Calm Belt and disrupt control over the four seas.

This was a national treasure.

Everyone was shocked, realizing the gap between them and Alistair.

"Let's try the Impact Shells; they could power small weapons or even lift people; their power should be considerable."

Impact and Wind Shells used compressed air.

Alistair's world had a history of airguns; in 1793, Austrian soldiers used airguns against Napoleon; the advent of granular gunpowder and mercury fulminate increased gunpowder's performance, rendering airguns obsolete; but in the new century, high-pressure airguns were used as toys or modified, even firing 12.7mm bullets.

With Impact Shells, the airgun's power increased—a shot caused the barrel to burst.

Mihar and Van Augur's experience prevented injury.

But they ignored the burst barrel, focusing on the bullet's impact.

The bullet shattered upon hitting a large tree; the powerful force, combined with the weak bullet, caused it to explode; fragments embedded in the wood, creating a cratered surface.

This is why Doflamingo used lead bullets for executions.

Compared to the cavitation effect of ordinary bullets, lead bullets' fragmented shrapnel caused more agonizing injuries.

Lead bullets were rarely used now; lead poisoning and lead encephalopathy were discovered, even destroying a nation; no one mined lead anymore; forcing the use of iron bullets.

Only top-tier gunners like Mihar and Van Augur used different materials for different situations.

Everyone was amazed by the lead bullet's power.

"Our barrels can't handle this power?" Alistair muttered, touching the burst barrel.

"Then use it in cannons. It's powerful." Everyone agreed.

Its powder capacity and resistance to humidity surpassed all gunpowder.

Its power was comparable to ordinary cannons.

Alistair smiled, addressing the Shandorian chief and Gan Fall. "You'll have a new industry."

"Shell farming is up to you.
