Chapter 99: Chapter 96: Goro Goro No Mi
Rubber was a substance that didn't exist on the Sky Island.
However, even billions of volts of lightning couldn't be fully resisted by ordinary rubber.
When exposed to such high-voltage currents, even insulators generate extreme heat.
This heat is enough to melt rubber and cause significant damage.
Yet, the Nika form—also known as the Sun God—is nearly immune to flame damage.
In the original story, Kaido's breath attack was powerful enough to destroy a mountain, but when it hit Luffy, it caused little real damage.
Likewise, being the Sun God and possessing rubber properties, Luffy was even able to grab lightning with his bare hands.
This was a complete counter to the Goro Goro no Mi.
Calling him a natural enemy was no exaggeration!
At that moment, Luffy grabbed Enel by the neck and lifted him.
"In the end, my Akuma no Mi really was superior."
Enel couldn't move and struggled to breathe.
Overwhelmed by sheer power, he couldn't even think about how to escape.
As Luffy squeezed his neck, Enel's consciousness began to fade.
"Where's that flying ship you were building?"
Taking advantage of the fact that Enel hadn't passed out yet, Luffy asked calmly:
"Did you use Skypiea's gold to build that ship?"
Enel grabbed Luffy's wrist and tried to speak, but could only let out a weak sound.
"Your… purpose… is the ship?!"
"Turns out I need a ship lately—and the crew keeps growing."
Just for a ship?!
Veins bulged on Enel's forehead.
"Release… me!"
"That won't work. If I let go, you'll escape instantly. Even I have trouble catching up with lightning."
Luffy had a pair of seastone handcuffs aboard the Going Merry, but they weren't with him now.
He could only use his Armament Haki to keep Enel's real body materialized, preventing him from escaping.
"Tell me—where is the ship? If you won't, I'll just have someone else find it... hmm?"
As he spoke, Luffy raised an eyebrow and looked outside the temple.
Amid the roar of a beast, an armored old man approached, riding a flying pegasus and wielding a long spear.
Gan Fall, having sensed the disturbance in the temple, arrived just in time to witness a shocking sight:
Enel—who had taken the temple and stolen divine power—was now helpless, held by the neck by a stranger.
"Who are you?" Gan Fall asked, stunned.
A white-haired figure, hair burning like flames, and a face he'd never seen before.
A stranger?
Luffy glanced at the newcomer, then focused once more.
He activated Advanced Armament Haki, flowing it into the hand gripping Enel's neck—directly into his body.
Internal Destruction.
Boom!!
Enel groaned. His spine buckled instantly as the Haki tore through his internal organs.
Blood gushed from his mouth, staining his chest.
His eyes went blank. His head dropped.
"Is he dead?!" Gan Fall exclaimed, eyes wide.
What did this man just do?!
At the same time…
The white fruit hanging from Luffy's waist prevented the Goro Goro no Mi from vanishing. Upon Enel's death, the power that should've been reborn somewhere in the world was absorbed by the fruit instead.
Its shape shifted, now showing thunderbolt patterns on its surface.
It had transformed into the Goro Goro no Mi.
Having finished his business, Luffy tossed Enel's body aside and sat on the nearby bed.
Crossing his legs, he casually grabbed an apple beside him and took a bite.
"You were the previous god, right? What's your name?"
"Gan Fall… Who are you?"
Gan Fall snapped back to reality, jumping off his flying horse and checking Enel's body.
With one look, he confirmed it.
Enel was truly dead.
The same Enel who had ruled this heavenly island for six years—was now gone.
It was all so sudden, he could barely believe it.
"I am the Sun God, Monkey D. Luffy."
"I see… are you here to govern this country too?"
Gan Fall's heart sank.
One god dies, and now another appears?
"No, I'm not interested in Skypiea. I'm just passing through," Luffy said, shaking his head.
"The guy at your feet had something I needed."
It wasn't that he had no interest in ruling—he just wasn't interested in ruling only Skypiea.
Only Enel would have been satisfied with something so small.
Gan Fall paused, realizing something felt off.
"You're from the Blue Sea, aren't you? I heard three pirate ships arrived recently."
Luffy neither confirmed nor denied it.
"I know you. You were the ruler of this sky island before this guy. The old god."
"Yes," Gan Fall nodded.
"Six years ago, Enel came here with his men, took this place by force, and oppressed the people. After destroying his homeland, Birka—a sky island—he came here…"
Luffy already knew the story, but wasn't interested in discussing it.
He waved his hand.
"I'll give it all back to you. I'm leaving soon, and I'm not particularly interested in ruling this place. But I do have two conditions."
Gan Fall trembled.
"Really? You freed this country, killed Enel—you're our hero. If there are only two conditions, I'll do everything I can to fulfill them."
Happiness struck him like lightning. For six years, he had wanted to resist but had been powerless.
He couldn't even defeat Enel's priests.
Now someone had done it for him.
"Condition one: Enel stole Skypiea's gold and built a ship here. It should be hidden in a cave. Help me find it."
"Condition two: when we arrived, my navigator paid over two million in entry fees. Please return it to her, or she'll have a hard time in the coming days."
Gan Fall was stunned.
That's it?
Was this man truly a good person?
He expected the usual pirate demands—money, slaves, treasures, women...
But instead—
"That's all?" Gan Fall asked in disbelief.
"That's it. I'm not interested in anything else," Luffy said, finishing the apple and tossing the core aside with a grin.
"Oh, and the ship probably isn't finished yet, so please help complete it."
Enel's goal was to reach the moon and establish a divine kingdom.
If he hadn't left yet, the ship must still be incomplete.
But probably only by a day or two.
"Luffy-sama, understood! I'll take care of it right away!"
Gan Fall took a deep breath, finally convinced that this man was truly good.
He mounted his flying horse and soared into the sky.
Watching him disappear, Luffy finally had time to pick up the Goro Goro no Mi and examine it closely.
The ship Enel had built was a flying airship capable of reaching the moon. But its energy source was lightning, entirely dependent on the Goro Goro no Mi.
"Thunder for Nami, rain for Vivi... and Enel's ship—perfect."
With this, the Straw Hats now had two Logia users.
Of course, they still couldn't compare to the crews of the Four Emperors.
Luffy himself could go toe-to-toe with any Emperor in terms of raw strength,
but his crew… was still far behind the others.
"I wonder what they're doing now..."

Hmph. If you really want to be useful, then entertain me, try to throw those pathetic power stones at me. Let's see if even your insolence can amuse a king.
