Chapter 58: Chapter 58: A Pet Egg?
Chapter 58: A Pet Egg?
Paper Art and Tempest Kick. They had appeared in the same refresh cycle as Life Return.
And even better, they were offered as a bundle, so he didn't have to roll the dice and risk getting a duplicate of a skill he already had.
He had to admit, the System's mechanics were surprisingly user-friendly sometimes.
Shane spat out the water he was rinsing his mouth with and nodded in satisfaction, adding the bundle to his cart.

[Manual: Yone's Fate Sealed]
Type: Training Manual
Price: 1,000 Points
Description: A powerful sword technique exclusive to dual-wielding swordsmen. Upon activation, the user dashes forward, instantly traversing a great distance. As the two swords cross, a surging hurricane is unleashed, sweeping all enemies in its path into the air. They are left in a brief state of stasis, completely helpless, before taking massive damage the moment you land.
Details: The maximum displacement distance can reach several kilometers. In addition to being a wide-range AOE attack, it also serves as an excellent escape skill.
Seller's Note: I stole this from Yasuo and now I'm being tied to a tree and beaten up by the villagers of Ionia. What do I do? It's urgent, waiting for answers online!
A sword technique.
And one that only a dual-wielding swordsman could use?
Shane paused, wiping his face with a towel, a hint of hesitation in his eyes.
It seemed like he wouldn't be able to use it, would he?
But still…
The definition of "swordsman" would likely be adapted to the standards of his own world. To put it simply, it meant one who had grasped the "breath of all things" and reached the level where they could "cut steel."
"Cut steel, huh?"
Shane instinctively glanced down at his own arms. They were corded with powerful muscle, so dense and resilient they could be described as forged from steel.
Their current strength was just a single step away from that legendary threshold.
If he continued his rigorous training, pushing his physical body to the next level, and then used Life Return to reshape his arms into blade-like forms…
Wouldn't that make him a dual-wielding swordsman capable of cutting steel?
Shane's heart leaped at the thought.
He felt there was a good chance he could exploit this loophole. It would be a true shame to miss out on such a powerful technique. And even if he couldn't use it, he could always give it to one of his crew members in the future.
Besides, for his current self, a thousand points wasn't that expensive.
If worse came to worst, he could always pay Sanji a visit next year for another "blood donation."
"I'll buy it!"
Having made up his mind, Shane added it to his shopping cart.
Speaking of which…
Why were the sellers from other worlds so consistently embarrassing? They were always getting caught by their victims.
"Their auto-looting skills are just not up to par," Shane remarked, shaking his head.
They were all in the same business, but compared to him—the magnificent future Pirate King—the gap in their skills was truly vast. If your technique is sloppy, you just have to practice more.

[Shizuka Minamoto's Bathtub]
Type: Miscellaneous
Price: 2,500 Points
Description: While it may just be an ordinary bathtub, when filled with swirling steam, it carries the innocent and beautiful childhood fantasies of countless people.
Seller's N—
Sometimes, reading too fast isn't a good thing. By the time he realized what he was looking at, it was too late.
Shane's face contorted into the classic "old man staring at his phone" expression. He covered his face, unable to look, and immediately scrolled to the next item.
Seriously? You travel to the world of Doraemon and this is what you bring back for everyone? And you have the audacity to sell it at such an outrageous price?
Where's the What-If Phone Booth? The trusty Anywhere Door? Even a Bamboo-Copter would have been great!
Honestly, perverted shut-ins should be banned from interdimensional travel!

[Random Pet Egg]
Type: Special Item
Price: 1,500 Points
Description: Upon purchase, this egg will hatch into a random pet with a random species and bloodline. Bloodlines are ranked from D to S. The pet's initial loyalty will be determined by its species and its first impression of its master.
Details: Acquiring your first pet will unlock the Pet Panel.
Seller's Note: None. Sold directly by the System.
"A pet egg?"
Shane had just walked into the kitchen to get some breakfast, and this item caught him by surprise.
So the System had this function too. Chewing on a piece of bread, he thought it over and decided to add it to his cart.
Items sold directly by the System were always guaranteed to be high quality. The pet that hatched from this egg wouldn't be some ordinary housecat or dog; it would undoubtedly be a creature capable of providing real combat support.
It was also the first completely random item he'd ever come across, and he was curious to see what he would get.
The remaining items were all mediocre in terms of value, so Shane scrolled past them with little interest and proceeded to checkout.
Four items in total, costing 5,100 points, leaving him with a balance of 41,050.
He opened his inventory. The manuals for Life Return, the Six Powers, and the sword technique were all neatly arranged.
Next to them, a new tab had appeared: the Pet Panel. The Random Pet Egg he had just purchased was resting there quietly.
Shane subconsciously glanced around.
The kitchen was empty, and there was no one outside the window. Belle-mère had already prepared breakfast and rushed off to the tangerine processing workshop.
As for Nami and Nojiko, they had only just returned home last night after two exhausting weeks on the road. They were still dead to the world and hadn't woken up yet.
With no one around to worry about, Shane directly clicked on the Pet Egg. A grey, twenty-sided die immediately appeared before him and began to spin rapidly—
[Randomizing… Please wait.]
[You have obtained a new pet: Silver Wolf Pup!]
[Hatching…]
The die vanished. The egg in his pet inventory had turned a shimmering silver-white, and a crack was slowly forming at its top.
Crack. Crackle.
A moment later, the top of the eggshell shattered completely. A fluffy little head poked out and, in the same instant, materialized from the Pet Panel into the real world.
[Bloodline Rating: A+]
[Initial Loyalty: 89]
[Description: The Silver Wolf clan resides by the shores of the Luminous Lake and is renowned for its terrifying combat prowess. The pup you have obtained belongs to the Royal Silver Wolf lineage and possesses even more astonishing bloodline potential.]
After reading the notification box, Shane's gaze moved past the system panel and down to his lap.
"This is a Royal Silver Wolf pup?"
He skeptically lifted the little creature. Its fur was a mousy grey, and it was chubby, soft, and unbelievably fluffy. Its tiny tail wagged back and forth, and its eyes… were filled with a simple, vacant wisdom.
Are you serious? Isn't this just a husky?
"Arf!"
The tiny, high-pitched bark made Shane's eyebrow twitch. The little guy, completely unaware that its noble lineage was being questioned, let its floppy triangular ears droop as it began to lick the scabbed-over wound on his arm with its little pink tongue.
When Shane gently stopped it, the pup let out a soft whimper of protest, rolled onto its back, and wiggled its four snowball-like paws in the air, revealing its light-pink paw pads.
"Ugh…"
Okay, he had to admit, it was ridiculously cute.
Shane's tough-guy heart melted on the spot. He couldn't resist burying his face in its fur for a good, hard snuggle, before gently patting its slightly empty-looking belly.
"You hungry?"
The little pup nodded its head frantically.
"So, what do you want to eat? This?"
Shane tentatively offered it the piece of toast from his plate. The pup just sniffed it and turned its head away.
"Then… this?"
The breakfast table was still full. Shane tried offering it the main dishes and the meat, one by one, but the pup ignored them all. He scratched his head, feeling a bit stumped.
Couldn't the System have at least included a pet-rearing guide?
He knew how to take care of ordinary cats and dogs, but a Royal Silver Wolf pup? Who the hell knew what to feed it?
It wouldn't even eat grilled steak. Did it have to be raw?
As Shane pondered this, he absentmindedly took a carton of strawberry milk from the fridge. He had just taken a sip when he felt a sudden, forceful charge against his leg.
Stunned, Shane looked down. The Silver Wolf pup was nudging his calf, its face a mask of pure, desperate longing. "You like… strawberry milk?"
"Woof! Woof!!!"
The pup yelped with excitement and started spinning in circles, its little tail wagging so fast it was practically a propeller.
