One Piece: From Ninja To Pirates

Chapter 34: Tacticians Have Dirty Hearts!

Time rewinds to when the two were struck into the sea.

After being paralyzed by the Lightning Release Ninjutsu, the two were unsurprisingly sent plunging into the ocean.

However, as Navy Vice Admirals of Marine Headquarters—the elite among elites and pillars of the Navy—they naturally wouldn't panic so easily.

They knew from countless life-and-death battles that losing composure now would only spell their doom.

Damn it, I can't move...

Onigumo seethed with rage. Who could've guessed that brat of a Ninja not only controlled seawater but could also wield lightning?

How could such a monstrous freak have never even appeared on a bounty poster before? What the hell was Naval Intelligence even doing?!

Doberman wasn't faring any better. He'd assumed that with both of them attacking, capturing this pirate would be a breeze.

Yet... not only had they failed to deal any real damage, they'd instead landed themselves in grave danger.

Had their physiques not been exceptionally resilient, that lightning would've killed them outright.

At least their Observation Haki still worked.

Onigumo's mastered Life Return—his body control surpasses mine. Hope he recovers soon, Doberman prayed silently.

At the very least, they needed to resurface before their oxygen ran out!

And of course, he could only hope that damn Ninja brat wouldn't seize this chance to—Damn it!

Before Doberman could finish that thought, his Observation Haki detected two Water Dragons suddenly forming above, hurtling straight toward them.

I knew it wouldn't be this easy! he raged inwardly.

BOOM!

The two Water Dragons struck one after another, slamming into the pair and driving them deeper into the abyss.

The tremendous impact shattered several ribs while also depleting their remaining oxygen reserves, pushing them to the brink of disaster.

If they were dragged any deeper, they might never make it back to the surface.

To think that Navy Vice Admirals would meet their end by drowning—such an outcome was unacceptable!

MOVE, DAMN IT!! Onigumo roared internally. LIFE RETURN!

LIFE RETURN!!

WORK, DAMN YOU!!

Perhaps due to the unique nature of Life Return, Onigumo's body gradually regained mobility.

The instant he could move, he swung his blade, cleaving the Water Dragon pinning him apart.

Now, Onigumo faced two choices:

First—abandon Doberman and surface alone.

Second—use the momentum from the attack to rescue Doberman, who'd been sent flying further away, though this risked his own life.

Under normal circumstances, Onigumo might've chosen the former... but right now, he couldn't afford the humiliation!

A hardline Navy Vice Admiral drowning at sea? The pacifist faction would mock them for eternity!

Fueled by sheer pride, Onigumo twisted his body and kicked off violently.

MOONWALK!

THUD—

The seawater churned as Onigumo kicked off, propelling himself downward at high speed. The moment he neared Doberman, he swung his blade in a fierce slash.

"Pfft!"

The sharp longsword pierced through the Water Dragon's body, shattering it effortlessly without harming Doberman—a testament to his precise control over power.

Freed at last, Doberman exhaled in relief. He was finally saved.

Now, the next step was... Huh?

Damn it, where did this Sea King come from?!

In Doberman's perception, a hundreds-meter-long Sea King had appeared right beside him, its massive jaws snapping down toward his body.

Each of its razor-sharp fangs was larger than Doberman himself. Without the ability to use Armament Haki, a single bite would mean certain death!

"CRUNCH!!"

Even with Onigumo's swift intervention, Doberman's right arm was caught in the beast's maw, severed and swallowed whole.

The agony of losing a limb surged through Doberman's nerves, veins bulging on his face from the pain.

He turned his gaze toward the Sea King, now cleaved apart by Onigumo's blade, and immediately noticed something unusual about it—a detail that sparked doubt in his mind.

'Red eyes... black tomoe... Do all Sea Kings look like this now?'

...

Back to the present.

"Huff... Huff..."

Doberman and Onigumo gasped for air, greedily sucking in oxygen as if they had narrowly escaped death.

Had Onigumo recovered even a second later, both of them would have drowned in the depths of the sea.

That colossal Sea King would never have spared them—they'd have been nothing more than snacks!

Doberman knew full well that without Onigumo's intervention, he might have lost more than just an arm.

Though he didn't understand why a Sea King had appeared here or why it attacked them... at the very least, they had finally taken down that damn ninja brat.

"Don't... don't underestimate the justice of the Marines, kid," Doberman growled viciously. "This is the price for looking down on us!"

"Hm?"

Onigumo suddenly sensed something amiss. Why wasn't the guy they had just struck bleeding?

A Devil Fruit Ability User with Elemental Transformation?

But that couldn't be. To ensure his death, both of them had mustered their last reserves of oxygen to imbue their attacks with Haki. Even if he transformed into his element, he should've been hit.

Unless... he had already transformed his body beforehand!

But preemptive Elemental Transformation required mastery of advanced Observation Haki—something this guy clearly lacked, given that they had managed to ambush him.

So... what the hell was going on?

Doberman also noticed the anomaly. He snapped his gaze up to Meiser's eyes and found them filled with mockery, as if taunting them:

"To think you actually hit me... How careless of me~"

The sheer condescension in that look was infuriating!

"Welcome to my cage~"

BOOM!!

The "Meiser" they had struck began to distort, his body twisting before exploding into a massive splash of water.

However, these water droplets didn't shoot outward like the previous Water Dragon Bullet. Instead, they rapidly converged toward the two men, taking the shape of a spherical water prison!

Doberman and Onigumo's expressions changed instantly. They instinctively tried to use Moonwalk to escape, but their weapons were completely restrained by the water pressure, making it impossible to draw them out immediately.

Now they only had two choices: either abandon their weapons and flee, or find a way to shatter the gradually forming water sphere.

After a brief consideration, they believed that with their strength, launching a slash to split the water sphere shouldn't be a problem.

But in that moment of hesitation, they lost their best chance to escape and were firmly trapped inside the water sphere.

Meiser slowly emerged from beneath the water, placing his hand on the fully formed water prison.

"Water Release: Water Prison Technique!"

Seeing Meiser reappear, Onigumo's face twisted as if he'd eaten something vile.

They had miscalculated. The immense water pressure and peculiar restraining force left them completely immobilized, forced to helplessly watch as the bastard outside gazed at them with mocking eyes.

"Do you two like the gift I prepared for you?" Meiser chuckled.

Doberman was so enraged he accidentally inhaled water. If not for his iron willpower, he might have started drowning already.

Bastard!

Tacticians truly have the dirtiest minds!

As if worried they might escape, Meiser gave them another shock with Lightning Release, making Onigumo's lungs nearly explode with fury.

'You bastard!!'
