Chapter 30: Crossing the Great Sea!
Meiser paid no attention to the giraffe and wolf. After Chopper's breathing stabilized, he strode straight through the battlefield back to Nico Robin's side.
"Usopp, hold him."
Usopp froze momentarily, clearly surprised that the other knew his name.
But then he remembered Nami had pulled Meiser aside for a whispered conversation in the Rocketman's cockpit during their return. Perhaps that's when Meiser had learned about him from Nami.
"Right, got it." Usopp didn't argue, nodding as he took Chopper into his arms.
Truth be told, everyone present would recognize him except Chopper.
"What exactly happened to Chopper? Why did he transform like that?" Nami asked, puzzled.
If Meiser could calm Chopper with just a look, he should know the reason.
"Not sure. He was nearly unconscious earlier, driven purely by bestial rage." Meiser considered before adding, "It might be related to his Devil Fruit."
"We'll ask Chopper when he wakes up," Nico Robin suggested.
Since they couldn't figure it out now, they should focus on immediate matters.
As she spoke, Robin glanced toward the Gates of Justice and noticed they were nearly fully open now.
This meant... the Buster Call was imminent!
Nami followed Robin's gaze and paled. "They're opening already...?"
"Perfect timing." Meiser grinned fiercely. "I've been looking forward to this."
The Buster Call... he hoped it wouldn't disappoint.
"I'll help you!" Franky charged into the room, raising his arm toward Jabra, intending to finish these guys before the Buster Call arrived.
"Tch."
Jabra spat in disdain, vanishing with Shave.
Franky sighed in frustration. These agents with their special martial arts moved too quickly to hit easily.
"Don't bother. Leave him to me." Sanji spoke without turning. "I'll take this guy down."
"Damn right!" Zoro shouted. "Handle your business! We've got these two!"
Regarding these Cipher Pol 9 agents who dared harm their crewmates, Sanji and Zoro were itching to personally finish them off!
Franky hesitated but ultimately withdrew, returning to Meiser's side.
Meiser nodded. "Then we'll leave this to you."
With that, Meiser grabbed Blueno's unconscious leg and began dragging him away, making Kaku's blood pressure spike.
"Bastard! He's already unconscious! What more do you want?!"
Meiser ignored him, continuing to drag the body.
Kaku: !!!
"You bastard!"
Veins bulged on the giraffe's face. He desperately wanted to unleash a Tempest Kick on the man, but with Blueno so close, he feared hitting his comrade and had to stop.
"The victor decides the loser's fate. That's the law of these seas - or didn't you know?" Zoro sneered.
Though he didn't understand Meiser's motives, there had to be a reason.
At that moment, the sound of a cannonball tearing through the air rang out, followed by a tremendous explosion.
"BOOM!!"
A single cannonball struck the very top of the towering structure, blasting away the already precarious upper floors!
"This is... the bombardment of the Buster Call!" Jabra's expression changed.
They're already firing this soon?
That means they don't have much time left to continue fighting.
With this thought, Jabra's attacks became even more ferocious!
"This must be the Buster Call's bombardment," Nico Robin frowned as she glanced upward, where the sky was now visible through the damaged tower.
Only one cannonball... probably just the Navy's test firing.
"Most likely."
Meiser, who was crouched on the ground treating Blueno, said: "These guys are finally here. I was starting to get impatient."
A trace of gravity appeared in Franky's eyes. Though he hated to admit it, facing something like the Buster Call made it impossible for him to remain calm.
Yet this Ninja kid could stay completely composed—a level of mental fortitude Franky simply couldn't match.
Moments later.
"Alright, all fixed."
"Huh..."
As Blueno regained consciousness and instinctively opened his eyes, before he could say anything, he saw a pair of Sharingan pupils gradually enlarging in his vision.
"That's it?" Nico Robin asked curiously.
"Yep," Meiser nodded, then commanded: "Blueno, stand up!"
"Yes."
Blueno immediately stood, standing obediently by Meiser's side as if he weren't a member of Cipher Pol 9 serving the World Government, but rather Meiser's personal servant.
Franky's eyes nearly bulged out of his head at this sight. "Whoa whoa whoa, what the hell just happened? Why's this bull-headed freak listening to the Ninja kid's orders?"
"Nothing much. Just used an Illusion Technique to control him."
"Illusion control... So that idiot Spandam activating the Buster Call was your doing too?"
"Correct."
Franky: "..."
Just how powerful is this Ninja kid?
"Alright, leave this place to Zoro and the others," Meiser said. "If you want to go to the Gates of Justice, just tell this bull-head. He'll use his Devil Fruit powers to take you there."
As he spoke, Meiser glanced toward the direction of the Gates of Justice. "I need to go deal with the Buster Call."
The silhouettes of warships were already visible near the Gates of Justice. If he didn't act, the Buster Call's artillery would definitely affect their comrades!
In the next instant, Meiser vanished from his spot.
When he reappeared, he was standing atop the head of a massive Water Dragon, soaring across the sea toward the Gates of Justice, high above the tower!
"Ninjutsu is just too damn cool!!" Usopp exclaimed excitedly.
How awesome would it be if he could learn Ninjutsu too?!
"Did you notify the Franky Family?" Nami asked. "Tell them to retreat early. The battle here is almost over."
"Don't worry, Meiser already contacted them."
"Good, then let's—"
"Head to the Gates of Justice!" Nico Robin declared.
"To the Gates of Justice?"
"Correct," Nico Robin said. "I want to see it for myself."
Everyone immediately understood what she meant—she wanted to witness firsthand how Meiser would intercept the Buster Call!
"Then let's go!" Franky laughed loudly. "Don't forget, we still need to hijack a ship to escape. Might as well take that idiot Spandam's boat!"
"Let's move then," Nami said. "Ox-Head, take us over there."
"Understood!"
...
Near the Gates of Justice, aboard the Navy Battleships, five vice admirals stood at the bows of their respective vessels, silently waiting for Enies Lobby to enter optimal firing range.
Though they didn't understand why the admiral wanted this place destroyed, it didn't stop them from carrying out their orders.
Just then, a lookout sailor shouted: "Report! A massive Water Dragon has appeared ahead!"
"A Water Dragon?"
Vice Admiral Momonga looked toward the distance in confusion, spotting something indeed flying toward them.
But... why would it be a Water Dragon?
"Alert! There's someone standing on that Water Dragon!!"
