Chapter 194: A Wealth of Talent (Part 3)

Apart from Esdeath, Charlotte had arranged a full curriculum for Caesar by the time he was five.

But for some reason, Charlotte always felt that Caesar was incredibly lazy.

He rarely paid attention in lessons and often fell asleep at his desk.

This infuriated Charlotte.

Although Charlotte himself had been guilty of dozing off in class during his youth, he refused to allow his son to follow in his footsteps.

Whenever Caesar dozed off, Charlotte would make him get up and run laps around the castle until he was fully awake.

Charlotte's castle was massive.

A single lap covered at least five thousand meters. If not for the naturally strong physiques of people in this world, no ordinary child could complete it.

And Caesar was only five years old.

When Charlotte first ordered him to run, he had said it out of frustration, never expecting the boy to actually finish it.

But to his surprise, Caesar completed the entire lap.

Who would have thought that this lazy boy was actually a natural-born athlete?

He could run five thousand meters at the age of five. While he wasn't at the level of a true monster, he was far superior to ordinary children.

Yet the real problem wasn't his stamina—it was his laziness.

If Charlotte wasn't watching, Caesar wouldn't move an inch.

This wouldn't do.

He was far too young to be acting like this.

Determined to correct his son's bad habits, Charlotte made a strict rule: every morning, before dawn, the maids would wake Caesar up and send him to run two laps around the castle.

If he tried to slack off and the maids reported it, Charlotte would personally chase him down with a whip, hang him from a tree, and discipline him.

Every time Caesar was punished, he would cry and swear that he wouldn't do it again.

Martha felt heartbroken watching him suffer, but Charlotte refused to indulge him.

Yet no matter how much he was punished, the next morning, Caesar would try to sneak away again.

And every time, Charlotte would catch him, tie him up, and give him another lesson.

Days turned into weeks.

Caesar's memory didn't improve much, but his body did.

Eventually, Charlotte noticed that he had grown strong enough that lighter punishments no longer fazed him.

Realizing he didn't have time to discipline Caesar every day, Charlotte decided to pass the responsibility to Barrett.

He told Barrett that whatever training he went through, Caesar had to do the same.

If Caesar didn't complete it, he would keep training until he collapsed.

This marked the premature end of Caesar's childhood.

What awaited him was nothing but rigorous, merciless training.

If his childhood existed at all, it was only in the form of suffering.

Aside from Caesar and Esdeath, Charlotte also had Tesla, who was now three years old.

Tesla had just learned to walk, so Charlotte didn't pay much attention to him except for occasional check-ins.

Robert, Sif, Deidara, and Eve were all still toddlers, barely two years old and only just learning to speak. Charlotte would visit them whenever he had time.

Beyond these seven children, Charlotte welcomed three new additions to the family this year.

Two boys and one girl.

Martha gave birth to the fifth son, Rockefeller Logan.

Jenny gave birth to the fourth daughter, Rockefeller Julie.

Alice gave birth to the sixth son, Philip Rockefeller.

With these new births, the Rockefeller family had officially reached ten members.

Six sons and four daughters.

Apart from Esdeath, none of them were useful yet.

Even Esdeath, despite her rapid progress, was still too young to be sent on missions.

But Charlotte wasn't in a hurry.

This was only the beginning.

There were still over ten years before the Age of Exploration began.

The world was chaotic, but still within manageable levels.

The true monsters were still growing.

Charlotte, on the other hand, had already reached the pinnacle of power.

And he was more than capable of protecting his home.

The bright morning sun shone through the windows of the castle.

Charlotte opened the curtains, letting the light flood in.

"Ugh… what are you doing? Closing the curtains so early…"

A sleepy, sultry voice murmured from the bed.

Elena lay tangled in the sheets, her bare skin partially exposed.

"It's fine. Go back to sleep. I've got things to do today, so I need to head out early."

Charlotte smiled as he looked at Elena. Then, he got dressed and walked to the door.

Click.

Charlotte stepped outside.

Elena slowly opened her half-lidded eyes. Though still groggy, she forced herself awake.

"This is new… the sun must be rising from the west today."

She muttered before stretching and getting dressed.

Charlotte never got up this early.

He usually slept in until at least ten.

Not today.

Today, he had business to attend to.

Charlotte walked toward the Rockefeller Pirates' camp.

Over the past year, the camp had expanded massively, now housing nearly a thousand people.

As Charlotte cleared more mountains, the habitable area of Kami Island grew larger.

The camp was located in the northwest corner of the island.

There was a deep-water port there, perfect for docking ships.

By establishing his own port, Charlotte's fleet didn't have to squeeze into the main Kami Island harbor.

Originally, the area had been mountainous.

But Charlotte had leveled the mountains with his own fists, flattening the land for construction.

And since the camp was far from the main town, it didn't interfere with the locals.

Most of the townspeople lived in the southeastern part of the island, closer to the Grand Line.

As Charlotte approached the camp's entrance, two towering figures stood up.

"Captain!"

The giants, House and Will, saluted.

Charlotte smiled and nodded, then walked inside.

As he strolled through the camp, his crew members greeted him one after another.

"Captain!"

"Captain!"

People bowed and called out in surprise.

Charlotte rarely visited the camp this early.

This was definitely unusual.

Some were confused, but most simply accepted it.

After all, Charlotte was their captain.

If he wanted to visit, why should they question it?

Instead of wondering, they decided to focus on lunch.

After passing multiple checkpoints, Charlotte finally reached his destination.

But what he saw made his blood boil.

Charlotte had come to inspect the scientific division, check on the progress of research, and visit Esdeath and Caesar.

But the moment he arrived, his temper exploded.

There, swinging lazily in a hammock, was Caesar.

Drool dripped from the corner of his mouth.

He was snoring loudly, clearly lost in a dream.

Charlotte saw red.

"I GOT UP EARLY FOR THIS?! THIS BRAT IS STILL SLEEPING?!"

The sheer fury in Charlotte's voice shook the entire room.

"CAESAR, WAKE UP!!!"

Charlotte's roar startled Caesar so badly that he fell out of the hammock.

THUD!

"OWW! That hurt!"

Caesar rubbed his sore backside, whining.

Still half-asleep, he blinked blearily at the furious man towering over him.

"…Dad? What are you doing here?"
