Chapter 78: 78
Just like Elior had said earlier, today he was fully confident that he could force the Gorosei to collect Kaeya's corpse.
However, Elior had no idea what this CP0 agent's name was, nor did he know that this guy was the strongest member of the organization.
A few moments ago, Elior had descended from the sky like a meteor, crashing down with terrifying force. While his leg strength wasn't at its absolute peak, it was still monstrous. Now, Kaeya's chest had completely caved in, his internal organs churning like a stormy sea.
Kaeya spat out a mouthful of old blood, his face turning deathly pale.
"Argh!"
"A lowly pirate... I swear I'll tear you apart!"
"Tear you to pieces!"
Kaeya roared, sounding completely deranged. His voice echoed through the entire plaza, making both marines and pirates nearby feel their scalps go numb. His entire expression twisted, burning with rage as if fire would shoot straight from his eyes.
He was furious. As a man of status and authority, he had never been humiliated like this in his entire life!
Today, he would rip Elior, this clueless little brat, limb from limb!
Kill him — brutally!
And before that... he wanted to force this kid to kneel and beg for mercy!
Boom!
Yet before he could do anything, Elior stomped directly on his face, smashing Kaeya's entire head into the dirt.
"Go ahead. Try and tear me apart."
Elior stared down at him with cold indifference.
When it came to CP0, Elior didn't like a single one of them.
Boom!
Another explosion rang out. Suddenly, the ground beneath Elior's feet turned into rolling white paper. Countless sheets surged up like crashing waves.
The sight immediately reminded Elior of Doflamingo's awakened ability — similar in effect.
"An Awakening, huh?"
Elior used Geppo to leap into the air. The ground below was now a rolling sea of paper — proof of a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit Awakening that could affect the surrounding environment.
Having witnessed both Doflamingo's and Katakuri's awakenings before, Elior instantly recognized this as the CP0 agent's own awakened ability.
"That guy's pissed!"
Hearing Kaeya's enraged roar just now, Sengoku immediately understood what had happened.
Kaeya had been pushed completely over the edge.
Boom!
Suddenly, four massive cone-shaped pillars of paper burst from the ground in four directions, each one coated in Armament Haki, all aiming straight for Elior.
Despite being made of paper, the cones had the hardness of steel, and now enhanced by Haki, they were even deadlier.
Attacking from four angles at once with frightening speed and overwhelming force, the assault was enough to make anyone watching break out in cold sweat.
Elior, however, remained calm.
There's a saying, rage boosts power. And this rage-fueled Kaeya was indeed stronger now. But seeing the guy resort to using an Awakening only made Elior feel... excited.
Gripping his sword with both hands, an overwhelming wave of sword aura burst from him, forming dark crimson streams of energy radiating out for ten meters in every direction.
Just as the four cones shot toward him, Elior leapt even higher, dodging in the nick of time. Then, with a casual swing, he unleashed three massive, air-distorting, crescent-shaped slashes downward.
At the same time, the four cones—seemingly reacting on their own—also shot upward, trying to follow Elior into the sky.
What followed was a head-on collision: Elior's three powerful slashes versus Kaya's four giant paper cones.
Boom!
The two forces clashed midair, exploding in a violent burst. A massive shockwave spread out in every direction, sending weaker marines and pirates flying like rag dolls. Even Sengoku, hundreds of meters away at the execution platform, could feel the fierce blast of wind and pressure.
"Those are the strikes of a true great swordsman, aren't they?"
Mihawk's eyes flickered with interest as he watched Elior. Even Yoru in Mihawk's hand, trembled slightly.
Challenging another great swordsman was practically instinct for Mihawk now. And those three slashes Elior just unleashed? Mihawk knew it immediately—that was great swordsman-level power.
This guy... he was a great swordsman too.
And so young!
Mihawk was honestly shocked.
"Damn it..."
"This guy's swordsmanship... is no joke!"
Seeing his own attack effortlessly cut down, Kaeya clenched his fists tighter, the fear in his heart growing stronger. His nails dug so deep into his palms that his hands started bleeding.
"Fine... time for my ultimate move!"
Standing amidst his paper sea, Kaeya slammed his palm onto the ground. Instantly, the paper ocean began to churn violently. Behind him, the waves of paper surged and swelled, as if something enormous was about to break through.
A few seconds later, under the stunned gazes of everyone present, a massive paper giant—at least 50 to 60 meters tall—rose into view.
It resembled Magellan's Venom Demon, but this... this was a giant made entirely of paper.
But was it just an ordinary paper figure? Not even close.
In no time, the paper giant's surface folded into heavy armor plates and a massive broadsword. Then, it became fully coated in armament haki!
In an instant, the paper giant turned into a war-beast-like monster, its entire body pitch black with Haki, standing there like an unstoppable force. The sheer presence was enough to send chills down countless spines.
As for Kaeya, his body radiated a terrifying aura, exuding overwhelming pressure.
"That guy's a monster too..."
"Is devil fruit awakening really supposed to be this insane? Am I setting my goals too low?"
Even Doflamingo was stunned, looking at the colossal paper figure with shock.
Everyone else in the plaza—and even those watching from the Sabaody Archipelago—were horrified. Some marines and pirates went weak in the knees at the sight.
The giant delivered a massive visual impact.
To Elior, it felt like watching a fully manifested Susanoo from another dimension. The similarity was uncanny.
This CP0 agent had managed to channel externalized armament haki into something this huge. It was terrifying just thinking about how strong his haki had to be.
"Looks like I've been underestimating things... a guy playing with paper can reach this level?"
Devil fruit awakening... truly terrifying! Doflamingo, compared to this, was starting to look pretty mid-tier.
Elior's eyes narrowed as he looked ahead, and Kaeya, from the other side, stared right back at him.
The surrounding marines and pirates had already retreated far away. Almost every eye in the plaza was now fixed on these two.
Even Whitebeard had glanced over for a moment, let alone the others.
"This is my ultimate technique. Time to die!"
"Titan Soldier!"
Kaeya, standing at the giant's feet, waved his right hand like a commander controlling a beast. The giant stepped forward, shaking the entire ground beneath it. Then, gripping a massive blade reminiscent of Whitebeard's bisento, it swung straight down at Elior.
At that moment, the air visibly distorted, and powerful gusts of wind whipped through the plaza. The momentum was utterly terrifying.
"Just looking at that swing makes me want to piss myself... let alone actually facing it!"
"Yeah... that's nightmare fuel. Just what kind of monster is that guy?"
"Is he from Marine HQ? Or the World Government?"
"Elior... can he even block that?!"
Countless people held their breath. The sheer force of that one strike shattered the courage of more than a few onlookers.
Elior, gripping Shigure tightly with both hands...
Closed his eyes for two seconds, then opened them again.
By then, the giant sword was only three meters from his head!
At that distance, it would land in a blink — and Elior hadn't moved.
"My lord!"
Hancock cried out, terrified. She couldn't imagine what would happen if Elior didn't move. One direct hit... it'd be over.
In the eyes of many others, it looked like Elior had frozen from fear.
But just then...
Elior swung.
A single, dark red, lightning-shaped slash streaked out, filled with skeletal energy, tearing through the air and colliding with the giant's sword.
Boom!
The resulting explosion created a tsunami of air pressure, shattering the paper ground below. Within a fifty-meter radius, everything was blown to pieces!
The deafening blast shook everyone's eardrums.
The shockwave—like a burst of Conqueror's Haki—swept across the entire marine plaza. More weak pirates and Marines were sent flying again, powerless to control their bodies, like ants caught in a hurricane.
"I'll call this... One Slash, Phantom Oni."
In that instant, the giant sword shattered. Even though the paper titan was tough — combined with Armament Haki — it still couldn't withstand Elior's strike.
But that didn't mean it was indestructible. As long as Elior's attack was strong enough, it didn't matter if it was Haki-coated or not!
Before everyone's stunned eyes, half the giant sword was completely obliterated.
"What?!"
"No way!"
Kaeya's face turned pale. His titan's greatsword... destroyed by one strike?
That kind of hardness... how?!
This was a first for him—in his entire combat career.
But in the end... he'd just had the misfortune of facing Elior.
The swordsmanship of a great swordsman could easily slice through his giant. Did Kaeya really think great swordsmen just swung their swords for show?
Elior believed that if Mihawk had been here, he could have cut the giant down too.
So what if it was Haki-coated?
Even Luffy's Gear 4th had its Haki barrier pierced by Doflamingo's threads back then.
As long as your power was strong enough... Armament Haki wouldn't save you.
"My turn."
Elior slammed his palm onto the ground. Instantly, two rows of giant ice spikes shot out on either side of him—looking like the skeletal remains of some ancient, colossal beast.
By now, Elior's control over his Frost Imperial Arms had reached absolute mastery.
The densely packed ice spikes charged straight toward the Paper Giant.
"Damn it... don't think this is all I've got!"
Burning with fury, Kaeya prepared to control his so-called Titan Soldier. But just then—
Six gigantic ice pillars, each over ten meters wide, burst through the sea of paper, erupting from six directions, pinning down the giant's arms and legs.
Suddenly, Kaeya found himself unable to make it move.
"What...?"
"What the hell is this guy's freakish ability?! Even Aokiji's Ice-Ice Fruit couldn't pull this off!"
Kaeya's bloodied face twisted again in pain, and his giant armored warrior remained trapped, unable to break free from the massive ice pillars pinning it down. The sensation of helplessness filled Kaia with the dread of a turtle caught in a jar—waiting to be slaughtered.
At that moment, the ocean of paper beneath him churned even more violently. Another massive paper spear, coated in armament haki, rose up and launched itself toward Elior. Kaeya, meanwhile, was desperately trying to buy time, struggling to break free from Elior's ice restraints.
But on the other side, Elior, gripping his blade with both hands, had already unleashed a slash powerful enough to rend the earth itself.
"This move… I call it Sky-Splitting Slash!"
The ground — along with the entire paper sea that had swallowed the plaza — was torn wide open. A dark crimson light lit up the war-torn sky above, casting ominous reflections across the battlefield.
Explosions and shockwaves followed almost instantly.
People stared in horror as a wave of sword energy ripped through the earth like a mythical dragon, charging straight toward the restrained giant. The slash first crashed into Kaeya, then barreled on toward the towering paper construct behind him. With a flash of blood-red light, a pillar of energy surged upward, tearing through the clouds!
BOOM!
The giant detonated on the spot!
The shockwave shook the entire execution platform — Sengoku himself stumbled for balance, let alone the people still standing on the ground below. A wall of air pressure swept across the plaza like a collapsing mountain, flattening everything in its path.
By the time the dust began to settle, the battlefield had returned to solid ground.
The giant was gone.
The area where it had stood was nothing but scorched ruins.
"I… I can't lose… In my entire life… I've never known defeat…"
Kaeya, with a gaping, blood-soaked hole in his stomach, staggered back to his feet. His hair was a tangled, filthy mess, and his bloodshot eyes bulged like a lunatic's. His sheer willpower alone was forcing his broken body to stand.
He refused to fall.
Absolutely refused!
But just then — a dark shadow flickered past.
Blades flashed like lightning.
Elior's sword pierced directly through Kaeya's heart… and twisted—several times over.
Kaeya's eyes went wide, his face contorted in agony.
"It cost me more energy than I expected to bring you down" Elior said with a cold smirk.
"But using a monster like you as my opening act… not bad at all."
"You… you… I…"
Kaeya's words stuck in his throat. To him, Elior's smile felt like the cruel grin of death itself — mocking, merciless. Blood surged up his throat, choking him before he could finish a sentence. The pain radiating through his body made it impossible to speak, but one thing he could still feel — clear as day — was the rapid fading of his own life.
"Go on… keep serving your beloved Celestial Dragons… in hell."
With that, Elior delivered a brutal kick, sending Kaeya's lifeless body flying.
And with that, Kaeya's life ended — abruptly, violently, and filled with endless resentment, fury, and humiliation.
He died with no peace in his heart.
At that moment… the entire Marineford plaza fell into a suffocating, stunned silence.
