Chapter 19: 19- Hunting Giants
"There's an island ahead!!" shouted the scout, drawing everyone's attention. The navigator quickly checked some charts and called out, "This should be an island called Little Garden. It's rumored to be prehistoric, and it's said that even giants live here."
In the original story, this island was full of dinosaurs and ancient insects—one bite from which nearly killed Nami, forcing them to seek treatment on Drum Island. But for us, we don't need to worry about the insects. Why? Because I'm here. If it can be healed, I can do it. If I can't… sorry, it's incurable.
Besides that, the giants on this island caught my attention. I wanted to study their physiology, though I knew it wouldn't be easy since they wouldn't just let me examine them—I'd likely have to knock them out first.
The giants' Hakoku technique was one of the most destructive attacks in the world, making Elbaph the strongest warrior nation.
Most of a giant's strength lay in their sheer size. Just the sight of dozens charging into battle was enough to make armies piss their pants.
But their size was also a weakness—they were slow and had to take attacks head-on, lacking any special defense mechanisms. With equal strength between a giant and a human, a giant could cause more destruction, but a human would almost always win one-on-one.
Now, if I could get my hands on a giant's… then add the defense of someone like Big Mom or Kaido… and enhance them with the Lunarians' flame ability… that would be a force capable of wrecking the world. Much like Surtr and his Flame Giants in Norse mythology. Doesn't this world follow a lot of Norse myth? Then let me be the one with the power to bring Ragnarok!
Damn, Elbaph is getting more and more enticing. I need to bring them under my rule.....But fighting them head-on? That would be stupid. No, why fight when I can be smart about it?
Once I become the God of Skypiea, I could establish trade with the giants, then covertly use Soul Operation on their royal family, and slowly gain control over Elbaph's leadership. Given their level of intelligence, it probably wouldn't be difficult.
But first, let's study the giants' genes and see if humans can be converted into giants. If they can, then fuck Elbaph.
Though not too many humans should be transformed—giants require significantly more food than humans. Turning just one large human nation into giants might be enough to push the world into famine.
As for Dorry and Broggy, someone like me is their worst nightmare. With teleportation, they'd be dreaming if they thought they could land a hit on me. And once I get close… well, a Gamma Knife to the heart is more than enough. They're just regular giants, not Kaido. One attack would be enough to knock them out, if not kill them outright.
Losing to them? Not even a concern.
"Alright, everyone, we're landing. Tonight, we feast on dinosaurs!" I called out as the ship sailed closer to the shore.
"But Alex, there are giants on the island… is it really safe to land?" Robin asked, concerned. "I read that some giants are strong enough to pull entire islands."
"Haha, don't worry, little Robin. The ones who can pull islands are ancient giants. Sure, they have brute strength, but that's all they have. Even if they're physically stronger than me, they wouldn't stand a chance in a real fight. So it's not me who should be worried that giants are on the island—it's the giants who should be worried that I have arrived."
The ship reached the shore and was anchored.
"Alright, wait here for a while. Anna, guard the ship. I'll be back after handling the giants—shouldn't take more than an hour," I said before leaping onto the island and rushing toward the center.
After getting far enough from the ship, I focused and unleashed my Conqueror's Haki, covering the entire island. For giants—proud and stubborn warriors—this was nothing short of a challenge. Honor was everything to them, so they wouldn't back down no matter how strong the opponent was.
Sure enough, two massive figures emerged, approaching from opposite directions.
"Hmm, a human? Were you the one who released that Haki?" Dorry asked, his massive axe resting on his shoulder.
"Are you challenging us, or were you just dealing with the island's beasts?" Broggy added.
I smiled. "Oh, I was just challenging the animals here."
"Challenging the animals? That Haki was strong enough to knock out the fiercest beasts on this island. What do you mean?" Dorry asked, puzzled.
I chuckled. "I mean exactly what I said. The animals I was waiting for have already arrived."
Broggy blinked. "Huh? I don't see any beasts here…"
Idiotic indeed… I sighed internally. "I heard you two have been fighting here for over a century over a bet?"
"Haha, yes! We've been fighting for so long… we don't even remember what the bet was anymore!" Both giants roared with laughter.
I smirked. "And with intelligence like that, do you even realize that you were the animals I was talking about? Honestly, do idiots like you even deserve to be considered above animals? Even beasts aren't this stupid. Hahahaha!"
Sure, I was provoking them, but I wasn't lying. If you actually thought about it, their actions were beyond ridiculous.
"Human, are you insulting the warriors of Elbaph for following our honor?" Dorry growled, anger flashing across his face as both giants raised their weapons.
"Yes, I am. So what are you going to do about it?" I smirked.
Room!
A transparent sphere expanded around me, covering the giants as well as more than half the island. For them, the fight was already over. Without another word, they swung their massive weapons at me.
Teleport!
Their strikes hit nothing but air.
"CONQUEROR'S DOMAIN!"
A crushing wave of Conqueror's Haki flooded the Room, slamming into the giants like a tidal wave. Blood trickled from their noses and eyes as they fell to their knees, fear overtaking them. Haki of this level was beyond anything they had ever encountered—far surpassing even the peak of Roger. These two weren't strong enough to resist it.
"Did you animals think too highly of yourselves? Filthy beings like you should know your place." I walked toward them, my gaze cold.
Gamma Knife!
One for each of them. They collapsed unconscious, their bodies twitching in pain. I hadn't used full power—if I had, they would've died instantly.
Gamma Knife… A terrifying technique, yet somehow, it had almost no confirmed kills in the original story. People like Kaido could just heal from it. But if I modified it…
A certain anime came to mind—Redo of a Healer. A cursed show, but one with an interesting concept: corrupt healing.
Gamma Knife broke the body from the inside, but somehow, top-tier figures could recover from it. But what if I corrupt healed them instead? Their body would think it was perfectly fine—so no automatic healing. I could even rearrange their veins and arteries, completely destroying their circulatory system without leaving a single visible injury.
It was as terrifying as it was effective.
I briefly wondered… if I were to corrupt heal myself and die, would I revive in perfect condition? Probably. But that wasn't a theory I was eager to test.
Though I guess even if I am corrupt healed, my devil fruit can restore me. It's a really special fruit, one that takes both physical strength and lifespan to attack.
That's why Law couldn't use it the way I do, many of my moves like covering entire islands with the ROOM, rely on sacrificing lifespan, which would surely kill him if he uses them frequently.
But I have infinite lifespan, so I can spam it as much as I want. In battle, I'd rather sacrifice lifespan than physical strength, so I have developed various such moves, which take a massive toll on life but almost zero physical strength is needed to unleash them.
Now, time to analyze these giants. Large bodies mean more work.
Room! Microscope.
