Chapter 124 - Mosquito
This individual actually had the audacity to ask Jiang Hao to shift to the left, then to move his answer sheet to the right, all in a blatant attempt to cheat off him!
Jiang Hao caught on and subtly shifted his position.
Xu Tianloong, watching from behind, could barely contain his glee.
“This guy really knows the ropes,” he thought.
But his smugness was short-lived. To his shock, Jiang Hao pulled his stool forward and draped himself over his answer sheet, effectively shielding it.
This was the college entrance exam, where cheating could land you in jail!
Jiang Hao had no connection to this person; he certainly wouldn't risk his neck for him.
Preferring to avoid further trouble, Jiang Hao opted for patience.
Yet, some mistook his forbearance for cowardice and grew bolder.
Xu Tianloong's face darkened with irritation as he began to kick Jiang Hao's stool, relentlessly trying to distract him.
Jiang Hao was seething with anger.
……
In the sweltering June weather of Tianhee City, mosquitoes were rampant. One such pest, lured by the scent of Jiang Hao's blood, settled on the back of his hand.
As the mosquito poised itself for a feast…
“Smack!”
The sudden sharp sound echoed through the classroom, previously filled only with the rustle of papers and the scratch of pens, startling everyone.
The invigilator, frowning, approached Jiang Hao.
“Everyone else, focus on your exams!”
He stood beside Jiang Hao and inquired, “What happened?”
Xu Tianloong, seated behind Jiang Hao, was petrified. He feared Jiang Hao might expose his antics and became incredibly anxious.
Jiang Hao quickly thought on his feet, glanced apologetically at the invigilator, and replied,
“My apologies, teacher.”
“A persistent mosquito kept bothering me, and I just swatted it dead.”
The invigilator, at a loss for words, simply said,
“Alright, get back to your exam. Just be more careful next time.”
“Yes, of course,” Jiang Hao responded with a nod.
Meanwhile, Xu Tianloong fumed silently behind him.
This was clearly a warning.
The message couldn't be clearer.
“Since when have I, Xu Tianloong, ever been warned like this at Tianhee City No. 4 High School?”
Xu Tianloong's frustration grew with every passing moment. Not only had this guy refused to let him cheat off his answers, but he had the audacity to warn him too! It was clear to Xu that once the exam was over, he'd need to teach this old boy a lesson and set him straight. But before that, he was determined not to let him off easy. After all, he wasn't going to get into a good college anyway, and his English was abysmal. If he was going to suffer, he'd make sure this kid suffered too. Fueled by this thought, Xu Tianloong glared at Jiang Hao with malice.
Once the invigilator stepped away, Xu couldn't resist and kicked Jiang Hao's bench again. Meanwhile, Jiang Hao was chuckling to himself as he gazed at the dead mosquito on his hand, a sight that would surely make anyone else think him a fool.
Suddenly, a voice echoed in Jiang Hao's mind, “Ding! System has detected a mosquito corpse. Would you like to decompose it?”
“Decompose!” Jiang Hao responded.
“Ding! Congratulations, host, for successfully decomposing a mosquito. You have acquired the Insect Controlling Arts skill, earning 0.9 skill points and 0.9 experience points!”
Insect Controlling Arts Level 1 (0/1): Gain the ability to command and control a myriad of insects!
“Decomposition complete. Would you like to integrate this skill?”
Upon reading the details, Jiang Hao's interest in the Insect Controlling Arts intensified.
“Integrate!”
Without a moment's hesitation, Jiang Hao chose to integrate the skill. As his words dissipated, a wave of relief washed over him, followed by a tranquil stillness.
Driven by his newfound curiosity about the Insect Controlling Arts, Jiang Hao eagerly activated his new ability.
