Chapter 28: Forging a Fighting Force

The night stretched on as Ben surveyed the ragtag group before him. A dozen Saiyans, all hardened by years of fighting in the underground, but lacking direction.

They weren't weak, but they weren't strong enough either. If they were going to survive what was coming, they needed discipline. They needed a leader.

Ben exhaled, crossing his arms. "You all made the right choice coming here. But don't get cocky—this is just the first step. If you think you're ready to take on Frieza's army now, you're dead wrong."

Toren scoffed, stepping forward. "And you think you can make us ready? What do you know that we don't?"

Ben smirked. "More than you can imagine."

He activated the Omnitrix and let the green glow wash over them. The sight of the alien device made some of them tense, but Toren just watched with narrowed eyes.

With a flash, Ben transformed.

XLR8.

The sleek, blue velociraptor-like alien stood before them, his visor gleaming under the moonlight.

Before they could react, Ben vanished—a blur of motion too fast for them to track.

A gust of wind swept through as every single Saiyan suddenly dropped to one knee, their legs trembling.

They barely registered what had happened—Ben had zipped past them all, delivering precise strikes to pressure points in their legs.

He reappeared in front of them, arms crossed. "Speed kills. Strength isn't everything."

Caulifla smirked. "Damn. That's a neat trick."

Toren clenched his jaw, forcing himself back up. "So what, you think your fancy powers make you better than us?"

Ben chuckled. "No. I think they give me the knowledge to make you better than you are now."

He transformed back into his human form, cracking his knuckles. "Training starts now."

The First Lessons

The makeshift training ground was an abandoned wasteland outside the city.

Ben divided the group into pairs, forcing them to spar while he watched. He studied their strengths, weaknesses, and habits.

Most of them fought like typical Saiyans—brute force, no strategy.

Even Caulifla, talented as she was, relied too much on raw aggression. She lacked patience.

Kale? She was strong but too timid.

Toren? Experienced, but predictable.

Ben shook his head. "This won't cut it."

He stepped into the middle of the field. "Alright, listen up. You're all strong, but strength alone won't save you. Frieza's army? They don't fight fair. If you want to win, you need to be smarter."

Caulifla scoffed. "So what, we're just supposed to sit around thinking instead of fighting?"

Ben smirked. "No. You're going to fight smarter."

He motioned for Caulifla to attack him.

She didn't hesitate. She lunged forward, throwing a punch.

Ben sidestepped at the last second, grabbed her wrist, and flipped her over his shoulder, slamming her into the ground.

She coughed, glaring up at him. "The hell?!"

Ben smirked. "You left yourself open. Again."

Caulifla growled, but she got back up. This time, she was more cautious.

Good. She was learning.

Breaking Their Limits

For hours, Ben drilled them. Not just on fighting, but on tactics.

He taught them to read their opponent's movements, to anticipate attacks, to use their environment. To think.

At first, they resisted. Saiyans weren't used to being patient.

But as the night wore on, something changed. They started adapting.

Toren began feinting his strikes instead of just charging in. Caulifla learned to watch her opponent's footing before attacking. Kale started controlling her power better.

By the time the sun rose, they weren't the same fighters they had been the night before.

Ben crossed his arms, surveying the exhausted but determined group.

This was just the beginning.

He knew Frieza's purge was coming. He knew they didn't have much time.

But for the first time, Ben wasn't just surviving in this universe.
