Chapter 10: Where are we, again?

1;3 To continue, begin at the start

The blinding flash of light gives way to a mysterious yet familiar small town, the sun shines bright onto the light roofs of the townhouses. The cheery mutters of happy greetings can be heard from incoming wagons carrying various goods for the town. Hollars from excited groups of children as they run around the town, Rayen spots a younger looking Blue sitting on the edge of stone stairs but sinks down sulking, ignoring all the other kids. She looks down to herself to find out that she's still the same age from before her time in the light. Rayen rushes through the dirt street to meet up with Blue at the small wooden house, he makes no mind to her as she approaches him.

“Um hey, how are you?”, Rayen quietly asks as Blue jumps from the sudden interaction. “Oh hey, no one really likes to talk to me. I’m Blue, who are you?’, Blue asks in a fidgeting sky manner as his eyes nervously dart around, “it’s okay, I like talking to you, I’m Rayen”, says says to Blue while kneeling down in front of him.

She quickly grabs his hand and yanks him away from the steps, “quickly, we have to leave now!”, she says while dragging him along, “wait what are you doing?!”, Blue shouts out to her as his feet drag through the dirt. “You have to leave right now, something really bad is going to happen tonight!”, she frantically continues as Blue is brought out of town.

Shadowy clouds spiral over into the distance, they lead back to the dark castle. The main hall of the castle is immaculate, from floor to ceiling the castle is decorated with polished black stones, “I’m sorry my lady, I’ll make sure to make things right this time”, Negative says while bowing down to Nexie.

She gently lifts up Negative’s head by her chin, “You more than anyone should know how important this is. Your delightful little sister Rayen has been spotted in a nearby town, under any circumstance necessary you need to secure her capture. You don’t need him teaching you a lesson again, do you?”, Nexie says with threatening contempt to Negative before she’s pushed out of her way.

Negative walks with a heavy stride to the entrance of the castle, “oh look at you, so you’re called the next generation of gods, don’t even get me started with how inept you are. Hundreds of years and all that you can show for it is pity", Sky arrogantly says to Negative before she retaliates back in a rage. Negative winds up a punch but is stopped short by only the mystical blue glow of Sky's eyes, and with just the force of Sky's energy alone Negative is thrown across the room, "you have so very much to learn, you should just do as you're told", Sky says while she confidently walks off, Negative's looks back at her with a frustrated envy.

After much fidgeting Blue wedges his hand from Rayen's grip, "please just let me go, why are you doing this to me", Blue says while slowly walking away from Rayen, "sorry, I know you won't believe me but you really have to trust me. Please!!, Rayen pleads as her eyes glow, one a vivid red while the other is a bright yellow.

As soon as she grabs hold of his hands again Blue can see the events of the future flash into his head, but it doesn't seem right, it’s not the future but from a different reality entirely, he sees dozens of bodies one after another, and a girl with jet black hair and golden yellow eyes shimmering in the darkness.

“How is this real- ?”, Blue says while he stumbles onto the ground with fear, “what-what do we do?”, He asks with tears streaming down his face. Rayen gives a quick glance over to the town now off into the distance and then looks back to Blue, “we’ll just run away, we’ll find a way to get stronger. I- I think I know where to go, and someone who can make us stronger”, Rayen says to him with a beaming smile.

At first the group takes their travels slowly on the old trading trail, a gentle cool breeze carries newly fallen autumn leaves through the afternoon sky. The trickling of a steady stream follows alongside the trail for miles. Rayen prances around the shore of the stream, Blue looks down at her with curiosity from the trail.

"Hey, just who are you anyway. I have this weird feeling that I'm supposed to know you from somewhere", he nervously says to her, "oh, I'm just someone who wants you to be safe”, she says with a happy glowing smile as she continues to walk down the shore. The fluttering of petals flow through the air and wisp it’s way past Rayen’s head and came to rest of the stream’s edge, “oh these flowers, it’s so rare for these to be in the wild”, Rayen says while looking at a tiny rose bush, “it’s just so pretty, these alway remind me of such happy times!”, she continues as she holds the small buds in her hands.

The hours drain through the day as they walk the seemingly endless trail, Rayen shows almost no sign of wear but Blue is severely lagging behind, “can we please take a rest, I don’t know how much longer I can go on for, I need food”, Blue says with a slow groggy voice. Rayen quickly kneels to Blue’s side, “oh, hmmm… hold on just a little bit I’ll be right back”, she says to him before running up the road.

A while up the winding road Ruby is driving a wagon stuffed with food and supplies down the trail, as she rides along she feels a massive thumping on one side of the wagon that causes her to instantly pullover, “oh damn it, what the hell was that?!”, Ruby says while jumping out onto the ground.

“Oh no I’m sooo hurt, I think I might need all your food! PLEASE!!”, Rayen shouts out desperately while rolling on the ground. Ruby's face quickly shifts from a terrified shock to a mild annoyance, “oh come on kid I know you just threw something under my wagon to get my attention, now move on”, she says while getting back into her wagon.

Hearing the familiar voice Rayen shoots back up in excitement, “wait Ruby! Is that really you?! I can't believe I've run into you, and I did stop it with my body. It kinda hurts a little bit", Rayen says as she rambles on and on. "Wait, how did you- oh whatever kid, first off how do you know who I am especially for some random kid", Ruby says while being dumbfounded. Rayen jumps back to her feet and stares at Ruby intently, "wait you don't really know me do you? I need to see Neon as soon as you can get me to her", She confidently says to Ruby as her eyes glow their respective vibrant red and yellow colors.

Ruby is quickly taken by surprise from the extreme oddity of Rayen's bieyed complexes, "those eyes, this girl is definitely something out of the ordinary", she thinks to herself, "alright fine, hop on next to me, I still have to finish my route but after I'll let you see Lady Neon", Ruby says while she climbs up her wagon as Rayen follows close behind. "Hey I need you to pick up a friend too, I promise he's very cool and strong", she excitedly blurts out to Ruby, "alright fine, as long as he doesn't get in the way", Ruby says before taking off.

The bright midday sky shines over the castle in town, the calm breeze flows through Xenon's hair as she looks over to the outskirts of town, "something doesn't feel right out there, there's something, no, someone unusual out there", she says to herself while leaning on the ledge.

Footsteps echo from the nearby tower staircase, "you know it seems like I always hear you say that to yourself everyday, are you even sure about this one", Sapphire says while standing next to Xenon, "tell me is it really true what they say about gods, do they really have that much power?", Xenon takes a long pause as she looks down at a luxurious locket.

"They are all unruly, they will stop at nothing to ensure their total grasp of power", Xenon says while tightly gripping her locket in her hand. "I always wonder what if would be like if the gods could get along with us, it's a shame that they could never give it a try. Just don't try to overthink it, the gods have been absent for so long", Sapphire calmly says to Xenon before walking away towards the tower stairs again. Xenon's gaze returns to the outskirts, "oh I wish that was true", she quietly says to herself with a feeling of melancholy.

Blue stares down the trail with a razor thin glimmer of hope that she will return with food, he begins to close his eyes from the extreme lack of energy. Just as he's about to pass out he starts to hear the distant pittering of hooves as a wagon draws closer, "Hey!! Stop! I need help!", Blue shouts out without being able to see the driver.

He then notices their little passenger, "Whao Rayen actually did it huh?", He says while he lowers his arms back to his sides. The wagon comes to a slow stop next to blue, "alright get on, your friend persisted that you should come too", Ruby says as Blue rushes on next Rayen. "So where did you two become such great friends", Ruby asks, Blue quickly looks over to Rayen, "I don't know, I barely know this girl-" he says before Rayen cuts in, "he's truly amazing, I couldn't think of having a better friend", Rayen quickly says to Ruby.

She pulls a wide smile from the kid's bickering, "haha, alright you two love birds. I can't believe how fast kids grow these days", Ruby happily giggles at the two as Blue begins to blush, "no it's not like that, oh whatever!", Blue says while nervously looking down.

Hours later as the sun sets to a beautiful twilight, Blue has fallen asleep on the wagon while leaning on Rayen, “alright we’re here, come get up I’m not gonna keep waiting”, Ruby says before Blue shoots up, “oh I’m up don’t worry!”, he says as he hops off the wagon. Rayen puts her sights onto the figure at the entryway of the manor as she sprints towards it, “hold up, just who are you and why do you know me so well”, Neon says while locking onto he own dagger at Rayen’s side.

“Please, just stand still little girl, I need to figure something out”, Neon says while her eyes glow golden yellow while placing two fingers on Rayen’s forehead. She’s suddenly washed with memories of a future that already happened but in a different reality, “as I figured, please let Ruby guide you to a room so you can rest and I’ll help out your little friend too”, Neon says as she walks towards Blue, “come along you’re going to be much safer here than where you were”, she says as Blue nervously walks by her side.

Later on that night Negative slowly walks up to Blue’s village, the trail entry guard notices her as she approaches, “state your name and business or turn back now!”, he yells out with no reaction from her, “I said stay back”, he shouts out as she gets closer. He swings his sword at her only to be easily dodged before she grabs him by his face, “okay, let me give this a try, where is Rayen”, she asks him in a dull monotone voice.

His eyebrows scrunch up as he hears the unknown name, “who? I’ve never heard of a-”, he says in a muffled voice before having a powerful spatial burst impact against his face killing him instantly. “I’m sorry that’s the wrong answer”, she says to the body on the ground. One home after another Negative asks the same question, “where is Rayen”, and as each gives her no information they’re all taken out just like in the previous timeline.

Not a single soul is spared in the ruthless killings, man, woman or child. Her hands are drenched in blood as she places her hand against the final door frame of town, "nothing, not even one clue. That has to be the fourth town this week", she said to herself as she left town.

The blue hue of the full moon shines into the back window of Ali's office while contrasting to the warm glow of the orange candlelight of her desk, she looks up from her desk as she hears her door creak open, "so what do you think of the kids?", Ali asks with a wide smile to Neon as she enters the room.

Neon lays onto the lounge couch on the far side of the room, "the boy I still have some questions about, he might be a little hit or miss. The girl though, is indeed an interesting specimen indeed. I was able to read her recent memories and she's been here before but not in the way you think. I might even be sure enough to call her a god, but not one of rage and anger. Instead she is one of a pure gentle heart, it’s truly fascinating”, Neon says to Ali while looking at the intricate carvings in the ceiling.

“But how are you so sure? I thought the gods were just part of a well known myth”, Ali asks as she jumps up to her feet in disbelief, “all you have to do is to look into those eyes of her’s Ali, I’m sure you could see it them”, Neon says as she looks down to Ali.

A slow pulsating glow emanates from Rayen’s room, inside she’s holding her orb within her hands, “I’m sorry I took so long to get back to you Arya, hopefully you’re not too mad at me”, she says to the orb as the light intensifies. “Oh I know Arya, you can calm down now, we’re safe here”, she quietly says to the orb before looking out the window at the bright full moon in the sky.

Deep inside the castle Xenon gets herself ready to retire for the night when she hears distant shimmering behind her, she quickly draws her sword to find a small golden orb floating right above the tip of her sword.

“Well that’s not a nice way to welcome your guests”, the orb says to her with a soft echo. Xenon tightens the grip on her sword as she presses closer to the orb, “and just who are you and how did you get into my private quarters”, Xenon says asks the mysterious orb, “I am something of a guardian angel, I’ve come to protect you from any dangers that would come to harm you”, the orb says as it twirls around Xenon with grace. Xenon cautiously sheaths her sword as she keeps her eyes locked on the orb, “is there at least a name I can call you? It could at least make me trust you a little more”, Xenon says while walking to her room.

“How rude of me, you can call me Iris, I am a servant to all your whims for as long as you live”, Iris says with a kind and gentle echo before fading away. Xenon stares into her high vaulted ceiling as thoughts race through her head, “was that just a god? I never thought that I would actually meet one face to face, and one that seems nice as that”, she says to herself before blowing out her bedside candle.

The dark castle is illuminated with a dull red light in the darkness of the night, its halls can hardly be seen through the shadows, “awful, incompitent, unacceptable, impotent!! You have shown nothing but disappointment to me for far too long! How hard can it be to find her?!”, Nexie yells at neon with a never ending rage, “I’m sorry lord Nexie, I tried my best but I couldn’t even find one lead on Rayen”, Negative says under a nervous breath.

Nexie charges her hand with a mysterious sparkling glow, “don’t make me make a mark on you that will never go away”, she says to Negative as the energy burns her jet black hair. Suddenly Negative shoots her hand up to force Nexie’s hand out of the way, “I can’t stand your constant bitching anymore”, Negative says as her eyes tear up with a large purple aura around her.

The space around the two warps to an intense amount causing a massive blast from within the castle causing the superstructure to shift as hundreds of bricks rain down from the massive tower above. A superheated ball of plasma forms in Negative’s hand, the light becomes blinding as she puts all the power she can into it. Then in a flash she shoots the massive beam into Nexie, causing her arm to disintegrate into thin air. The massive hole left at her shoulder gushes blood onto the ground at first but not for long, the massive wound quickly begins to grow new skin before her very eyes, and before long her whole arm is regenerated within seconds.

“How cute, but you’re going to have to try a little harder than that to make any real dent Negative”, Nexie says as she flexes her newly formed hand. In a massive panic Negative forms a powerful spatial burst in front causing Nexie to be knocked back to the wall behind her, when she looks back up Negative is already gone, “so you’ve chosen this path my sweet daughter Negative, may the gods above have mercy on your foolish soul”, Nexie says as she sinks further into the wrecked castle’s darkness.

Negative runs far away from the castle at great speed, the world around her almost feels like a blur as she speeds faster and faster away before she finds her way to a small abandoned ghost town. This place wasn’t invaded by her or anyone she knew, not a single body was in any of the few homes she searched or in the small town hall in the center of the village.

“This seems like a place as good as any to rest until I can gather myself together, I have to find ways to get stronger, I’m still nothing. I can feel them out there, I’ll never let these filthy mortals creep up to my powers no matter what!”, Negative says to herself as she looks into a cracked mirror, the spider webbing cracks warping her face as she looks at her face, smudging with the streaks of tears streaming down her face.

Rayen sits glued to her window as she keeps an almost unreal focus on a force unknown, “Negative? Is that you I feel out there? I-I just wish I could find a way to save that dark heart of yours, I can feel your pain now. It feels sad, angry, and nervous all in one”, Rayen says to herself as her soft breath frosts the pane of glass against her face. She cups her hands tightly together as she focus her power in a hopeful sorrow, “please don’t become like before, I want to be the one who can save you from this pain Negative”, Rayen says before falling into a meditative like trance as her energy turns into a hyper like focus as she locks onto Negative’s energy signature.

She opens her eyes after feeling Negative’s cloudy and dark energy within her, Rayen feels chills just sensing such a sharp and unforgiving power “I hope I’m just not too late to turn you back around”, Rayen says in a nervous cold sweat before focusing her power for the rest of the night in a peaceful deep meditation
