Nodel. Waxing Gibbous 🌔. Day 15.
Early in the morning, Tesilim and his new companions once again set out into the wilderness. They had the full day ahead of them before Tesilim's 24-hour period ended, but every single one of them wanted to get the excitement over with.
It wasn't long before the small party made it to the now-designated spot used to unleash Tesilim's chaos, and they took a minute to prepare themselves for the unpredictable. Well, Lili and Alyx prepared, but Tesilim mostly held himself back from rolling his d6 weapon dice. The daggers had transformed back sometime during the night, meaning they had probably been under the 12-hour effect.
After preparing as much as they could, Lili enhancing herself and holding a fly spell at the ready while Alyx had his shield active and holding a little blue orb. Tesilim wasn't sure what it was, but he was definitely going to ask later.
Alyx then motioned him to start, and Tesilim began his chant. This time, it would be without the circle, as Alyx wanted to see how much Tesilim's chaos mana would boost the spell at its base.
“From my palm, let flames take flight;
With fiery force, unleash your might;
Flame missiles, heed my call;
Strike my foes with searing flames.”
Tesilim began to activate his chaos boost ability as he did his chant, willing it to use up all 100 of his stored chaos mana. Doing so caused the system to warn him that doing so would cause a Chaos Event, but he dismissed it and felt as his chaos mana was let out. Oddly, it didn’t burn as it mixed with his other mana, but it did make his mouth taste all sorts of fruity flavors as if he was tasting the rainbow. Then, as he finished his chant, he was taken by surprise. The fire missile left his hand in an explosion of smoke and flame, causing him to be blasted backward!
Tesilim then heard another explosion and the sound of bark cracking.
When he looked up, he saw that the tree he had aimed at had been pierced completely. The tree had been split from its trunk, with cracks running up and down the two separated pieces. The sight was a bit crazy as his regular missile could, at most, make a hole into a regular tree.
Of course, that's when he got his message, and he yelled out as he summoned his own shield.
“Get ready! It’s coming!”

That's when Tesilim’s new hell on earth began.
Tesilim’s favorite song changed from time to time. He didn’t have a true favorite, as after hearing a song for too long, it just killed it for him, and he moved on to the next catchy rhythm. One of those songs that he revisited every year or so was called Caremelldansen. It was a funky, nice little song that was introduced to him via memes. He hadn’t heard it since the apocalypse began on Earth, which is why the low buzz all around brought him confusion as that very same upbeat song slowly increased in volume until it was blasting throughout the forest.
Tesilim smiled and went with it for the full duration, enjoying the beat as Lili and Alyx watched him in confusion.
The problem came when the song came to an end and just started back up again.
That’s when the realization hit him, and he looked up into the sky, screaming for all he was worth.
“Nooooooooooo!”
What kind of sick joke was it? Who would ever do such a thing? Those were the questions Tesilim asked himself as he walked back to the city with Lili and Alyx while the song replayed for the fiftieth time.
Tesilim had been able to silence the song, but it could still be heard around him for about 40 feet in every direction. It was a low buzz that he could barely make out, no matter the amount of noise around him. Even while walking through the city, he could still hear it, and so could everyone else.
Luckily, people knew Lili and Alyx’s robes made it so people didn’t question it much, but Tesilim knew he would be known as the music guy. Probably.
The worst part was that whatever was going on even overwrote the effects of a silencing spell. The spell stopped the actual noise, but they could hear it in their heads.
Thankfully, Lili said, rather worryingly, that she had endured worse torture, and Alyx was just interested in figuring out how what was happening was happening. So, Tesilim’s training continued unbothered.
As the days passed, his music problem continued unbothered. Tesilim didn’t learn any more spells but mainly focused on getting a better grasp of the ones he already knew. He also continued his training with Lili, and of course, he kept rolling his weapon dice.
On the day the music started, he got a four and a new pair of boots that lasted a whole 12 hours. Naturally, he also identified them.
🔷 Crystal Notice 🔷
Boots - Item Rank: Rare - A simple pair of leather boots enchanted with self-repair, sturdiness, and increased wearer speed. The boots have the following abilities: Elemental Kicks. Teleport.
Elemental Kicks: The wearer of the boots can envelop them in wind, earth, fire, or water. While enveloped, the boots drain mana to keep the effects active; additionally, the wearer can spend extra mana to increase the active effects.
Wind - The wearer can fly in short bursts.
Earth - Kicks deal more bludgeoning damage and can stick to stone surfaces.
Fire - The wearer gains resistance to fire and is able to deal fire damage with their kicks.
Water - Gives the wearer weak, passive healing.
Teleport: The wearer can spend mana to teleport ten feet in any direction while wearing the boots.
🔷
Needless to say, they trained with said boots for that day.
Now that they knew he would have a variety of weapons to choose from, Lili wanted to make sure he knew how to properly use them in combat. Tesilim had argued that the die’s magical properties gave him knowledge of the weapon and made him decently skilled. However, Lili pointed out that knowledge does not equally translate to experience, which was true, so he relented.
And he was glad he did because teleporting around definitely gets you dizzy. Another issue was that he had never flown before and had to get used to the idea of being able to move freely in almost all directions. Still, the boots were awesome, and he almost felt like a freaking elemental bender.
On the 16th day, he rolled again and got the shield, but sadly it only lasted one minute, so he didn’t get to play with it for long, but at least he was able to identify it.
🔷 Crystal Notice 🔷
Shield - Item Rank: Epic - A plain steel shield with leather straps enchanted with self-repair and sturdiness. It also gives the user greater resilience. While using the shield, the user has access to the following abilities: Barrier. Kinetic Slam. Spinning Slash.
Barrier: The user can spend the item's mana to create barriers as if they were using the Barrier spell.
Kinetic Slam: The user can spend the item's mana while holding the shield in front of them. Willing the ability to activate will cause the shield to rush forward in a straight line and slam into the first thing in its way. The distance the shield travels and the amount of kinetic damage it does is based on the amount of mana spent.
Spinning Slash: The user can throw the shield, spending some mana before throwing it to grant it an extra boost in speed. The shield will travel in a straight line, slashing into the first thing across its path. Distance traveled, and the shield's level of slashing damage is based on mana spent. Additionally, after coming to a full stop the user can will for the shield to teleport back to their hand.
🔷
Needless to say, he was excited to be a magical version of the captain.
Moving to the 18th day, because he was managing his addiction to one roll a day, Tesilim got a five and got his hands on the freaking katana. Sadly, it was only for one hour and he was also banned from using the last ability in the city. Even so, the hour of training with Lili was nice.
🔷 Crystal Notice 🔷
Katana - Item Rank: Epic - A simple-looking katana enchanted with self-repair, sturdiness and sharpness. The katana is constantly imbued with lighting magic that deals extra damage with every attack. Additionally, the user can use the following abilities while using the katana: Lighting Bolt. Lightning Slash. Nothing Personal.
Lightning Bolt: Unleash a lightning bolt in the direction the katana’s point is facing. The range, size, and damage of the lightning bolt can be altered but ultimately depend on the amount of mana spent.
Lighting Slash: Send a slash of lightning in the direction the katana slashes. The range, size, and damage of the slash can be altered but ultimately depend on the amount of mana spent.
Nothing Personal: With the katana sheathed, pick a target, then say “Nothing Personal,” which will cause you to teleport behind the chosen target and unleash a Lightning Slash, spending all the remaining mana stored within. The greater the distance teleported, the more mana is spent. Warning—once this attack is started, it cannot be stopped, and the user will be forced to commit to the Lighting Slash.
🔷
Then on the 19th day, he got the boots again though only for one minute, which sucked. On the 20th day, he rolled once again and got the boots again, but that time he got them for a full day and once again spent it practicing with Lili. Another awesome thing was that both Lili and Alyx agreed he was finally starting to reach proper D Rank, and soon, it was going to be time to sign him up for the adventurer’s guild.
The 21st came along, and he got the freaking boots again! It was for one hour. Tesilim was getting annoyed because he rolled for the boots three times.
On the 22nd, he rolled the shield and got it for 12 hours! This meant he could properly train with it, and man, did he feel badass throwing it and having it come back to him. Lili and Alyx were also impressed with its defensive capabilities, which would help him stay alive for longer.
Finally, on the 23rd, he got the katana again, but for a whole day, which was awesome! The other awesome thing that happened that day was when he checked his status.
