Necromancer: Infinite Undeads In The Apocalypse

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: [Inheritance]

The soldier didn't stop Anvil. He had his ID with him.

The ID was taken along with him to the hospital. After the simple check, he was free to enter the mines.

He walked straight into the dungeon without taking any equipment. Nobody cared about him.

After the Giant Rat incident, the security was tight. There were soldiers patrolling in the dungeon.

However, it was still pretty lax.

Anvil glanced at them and walked straight past. The soldier didn't stop him or ask him about the tools.

Anvil reached the hole where he had dived in.

The hole was the same as before.

There was no door leading to the room—only the hole was an option. There was no use breaking the walls. The walls would repair themselves the next day.

Each day the dungeon is reset. Monsters are spawned, ores are regenerated, any damage done to any part of the dungeon is repaired, any dead body left in the dungeon disappears, and the dungeon appears the same as before the next day.

The dungeon looks the same as the day it appeared. There hasn't been a single alteration to its appearance.

Anvil slid into the hole.

He still remembered the room. He looked around. The room wasn't big, but it was dark.

There was no light source. Even the light seeping in from the hole didn't light anything inside.

Anvil walked around carefully. He didn't wish to reactivate the traps. Fortunately, he didn't step in any traps and arrived at the stone stand where he had taken the metal ball from.

He touched the hole.

Suddenly, a click sound echoed.

A door opened again.

The same secret door.

"Eh." Anvil was confused.

He remembered the door opened automatically when arrows hit some buttons. He didn't know the hole had the button.

"Didn't the dungeon exploration team find this room? The button wasn't hidden that much," Anvil thought, but didn't care.

He entered the secret room.

He was greeted by the same door which he pushed lightly. The door opened with a loud sound.

The same room.

However, there was a slight change. There was a platform and a glowing stand.

As Anvil stepped in, the door behind him closed with a loud thud!

"Huh. I don't remember this happening." Anvil had many questions.

How he reached up, what happened here, and what was the pain he experienced. He didn't remember everything clearly, but he couldn't forget the pain.

The suffering.

He didn't mention it to anyone because he himself didn't know the reason. And he didn't want to explain this secret room and what he saw.

Anvil walked to the platform near the stand, passing by the statue.

He stopped in his tracks.

"Did these statues always have glowing eyes?"

Anvil didn't remember, so he didn't care. He stepped on the platform and stood before the stand.

The stand was glowing in blue. The smooth stone top had words carved on it.

[Congratulations! You have obtained the right to inheritance of Death.]

[Will you accept the inheritance? In the case the right is refused, your body will explode. Do you agree?]

"Do I have any other choices than to agree?" Anvil complained and didn't click on the [Yes] button immediately.

"Can't I just leave without choosing anything?"

As he thought that, the words on the stand changed immediately. The words were displayed in red, as if written in blood.

[You have only 2 minutes to decide. Failure to decide in the determined time will penalize you with the same penalty as choosing No.]

"Eh. I don't have any choices, do I?" Sighing in resignation, Anvil clicked on the button [Yes].

"If I didn't arrive first, then would I have died without even knowing why?" he asked himself, but an answer came.

[No. You will come here whenever you can. It's determined from the start that you end up here.]

[All the power in your body is sealed. Your body isn't strong enough to inherit all powers now.]

[First part of inheritance will be granted.]

Suddenly, a bright light shone from the top. The room shook.

Suddenly, Anvil's body shone.

"Ugh." He clutched his heart.

The statues suddenly glowed and exploded.

The exploded bits didn't land on the ground but all stuck to the walls.

Then the walls began moving. The four walls moved toward Anvil.

"Woah." Anvil exclaimed in wonder. His body radiated dark light. The light turned into thin wires that connected themselves to the walls.

Suddenly, the walls zoomed in.

Then they broke down into pieces. The pieces turned into dust, and the dust into light. And the light was absorbed into Anvil's body.

"Ah!" A loud noise escaped Anvil's mouth as drowsiness hit him.

He suddenly lost consciousness.

When he woke up, he found himself in the same room which had led to the secret room.

"Huh?" He saw the door to the secret room had disappeared. Not only that, even the stand and anything in the room had disappeared. It was now just a hollow room.

Suddenly, a light lit up before him.

"Wow. These are a heck of a lot of quests. Hmm, kill monsters with what, my bare hands?" Anvil had come here barehanded. So he had no idea how to complete the quest.

"Might as well explore the area and scout the monster first. I have to be careful… I don't want to die." Anvil took a deep breath and stepped inside the hallway that was visible after the door was opened.

And as he stepped, he immediately saw the monster.

There was a big rat.

It was as big as a human child with a large stomach. It had long limbs with sharp nails that were filled with dirt. Its two sunken yellow eyes frantically searched for something as its claws collided with the stone floor, producing a clinking sound.

It was trying to dig out; however, with its frail body, it wasn't possible.

Squeakkkk!

However, it produced an ear-piercing sharp noise that would make anyone's ears bleed.

It was alone, searching for something with rage. Its long tail was flailing around. However, despite being thin, it was moving around at such speed that once it collided with something, it produced a loud bang sound.

Suddenly, it stopped and turned its face toward Anvil.

As their eyes met, the rat let out a loud ear-piercing sound. If there was glass, it might have shattered.

"Uh… a rat… a monster." It wasn't a mutated animal but a monster.

Anvil saw something hover above the rat's head.

[Whimrat]

The writing was in white.

"Wow." Anvil exclaimed.

The [Whimrat] rushed at him at great speed. Its pale translucent body flashed before Anvil's eyes.

"Oh shit!" Anvil cursed as he stepped back. A claw swiped before his face, missing by a hair's width.

The wind burst on his face.

The rat landed and jumped instantly. It was unavoidable.

Anvil caught the rat with his two hands as it tried to claw him.

However, it was slippery and fast. Anvil almost let it go.

The claw cut his arms, which hurt a lot. "Uhhh." Groaning in pain, Anvil raised the [Whimrat] and slammed it on the ground.

SQUEAK!

A louder scream echoed.

"AHH!" Anvil screamed as his ears bled. He formed a fist and punched the [Whimrat] on its chest with all his force.

The rat tried to escape, but Anvil forced all his weight on it, locking it in place by putting his knees on its body and grabbing its neck while his fist rapidly punched.

It was fast and dangerous; however, it was ridiculously weak. Its defense was nonexistent.

Black blood came out of its mouth as it flowed below, touching Anvil's hands, dyeing his knuckles in red.

Crack!

Anvil could hear cracks from the rat's body as his knuckles hurt.

Sq…squeak….

The [Whimrat] let out its last sound before dying.

"Ha! Ha! Ha!" Anvil breathed heavily as he sat on his back.

"Oh my god, it was brutal. It's just a small rat, yet it nearly killed me." Anvil glanced at his arms.

They were bleeding.

"I won't get infected, right?" He feared various infections and diseases; however, he couldn't do anything. He just tore his clothes and wrapped it as a makeshift bandage.

He was wearing a T-shirt and a simple jacket. He tore the T-shirt and wore only the jacket.

But there was a tear on the jacket too due to the claws, and cold air seeped in, stinging his wound.

"Now I can summon this as an Undead." He pondered on how to cast the spell.

But as he thought of the word [Necromancy] in his head, his vision changed.

Everything was normal, but he could see a cloud of black gas. The gas was emitting from the dead rat.

"Hmm…" As he stared at the rat, a weird feeling came to him. He raised his head, and the black cloud moved.

"Uhh…" A weird sensation filled his body.

The cloud turned into thin invisible wires and connected with his body. The other part of the wire moved toward the dead rat.

As the wire connected to the body, the remaining gas swarmed the corpse. Then a small change happened to the corpse.

Its pale skin darkened, and the body moved. Its limbs started shaking, and slowly it stood.

The [Whimrat] corpse stood before Anvil. As all the black clouds disappeared into its body, the closed eyelids bolted open.

The yellow eyes had turned to pure black. There were no pupils, only black sclera.

Anvil experienced yet another strange feeling, as if he had a new organ that he could control freely.

He just thought something, and the [Whimrat] Undead followed it. He ordered the Undead to hit the wall, and it did it swiftly.

He ordered it to rotate, and the rat rotated its body. He ordered it to roll, and it rolled on the floor.

"Wow wow wow." Anvil's eyes gleamed in excitement.

He continued his walk. The passage was short, and he encountered a turn. As he turned, he saw another [Whimrat] doing the same thing as the previous one.

"Ssssh." Anvil made a shush sound and ordered the [Whimrat] to slowly approach the rat.

He hid behind the walls and stared at the scene.

The Undead [Whimrat] approached the live one; however, the live one didn't react. But as it reached close, the [Whimrat] stopped suddenly. It turned its face toward the Undead.

Then it smelled the air and suddenly became enraged. It jumped at the Undead. However, Anvil was watching, so he immediately ordered the Undead to dive—and it did.

The [Whimrat] landed on the ground and turned its head with a loud squeak!

The Undead [Whimrat] too pounced on the [Whimrat] and clawed at its body.

The live one did the same; however, there was a massive difference in them.

No matter how much the live one clawed the Undead [Whimrat], it didn't let out a single sound nor become any weaker. However, the live one was getting wounded.

The loss of blood made it weaker and slower to the point it couldn't attack at all.

And the Undead [Whimrat] bit its neck, tearing the flesh apart, killing it instantly.

"That was easy." Anvil stood before the [Whimrat] corpse with a proud face as he patted the Undead's head—however, only once.

The Undead looked too creepy to be loved. Not to mention, it was covered in tears and blood. There were massive gashes and holes to the point bones were visible. The blood was flowing out—murky dark blood that smelled awful.

Anvil turned his attention to the corpse. He stretched his arm, and black gases moved.

A new Undead was formed. However, it was heavily mutilated. Still, it increased the combat forces by 50%.

"Time to increase my army." Anvil walked with a new set of confidence.
