Allthough Sunagakure had a stronger taijutsu foundation than the smaller nations, it still lagged behind the other Five Great Villages. Among the major Hidden Villages, Sunagakure's physical combatants were the weakest, often overshadowed by puppeteers and ninjutsu specialists.

This status quo only began to change in the original timeline after Gaara discovered Shira, who had developed the Seven Days Breathing Method.

Chiyo had passed down these two techniques—Mechanical Shield Seal and Wind Speed Jutsu—not just to enhance Hirito and Sasori's capabilities, but because she feared they might share the same tragic fate as her son and daughter-in-law.

"Wind Speed Jutsu is difficult to master, but it's a crucial escape technique. Luckily, my Wind Release proficiency is decent, so as long as I dedicate time to it, reaching the first stage shouldn't be too hard.

"On the other hand, Mechanical Shield Seal is classified as B-rank mostly because of the required mechanism inside the puppet. The actual jutsu is quite simple—it only requires directing chakra through a prepared circuit. Essentially, it's an instant defense technique powered by puppetry.

"I just need to build a mechanism that suits my needs based on Chiyo's blueprints."

Hirito studied the ninjutsu scrolls carefully and made a decision—he would delegate the Wind Speed Jutsu training to his DC world incarnation first.

Since the incarnation was an extension of himself, once it successfully mastered the technique, the main body would naturally gain an understanding of the process, making it much easier to learn.

Early the next morning, Team 9 received their orders—in two days, they would be deployed to the battlefield.

Neither Pakura nor Maki showed any hesitation about going to war.

Both came from strong family backgrounds and had grown up loyal to Sunagakure, instilled with the village's ideology. Unlike some disillusioned shinobi, they were still young, ambitious, and eager to prove themselves in battle.

However, one thing surprised them both—Hirito had become a personal disciple of Chiyo and Ebizo.

"Hirito, did you really become Chiyo-sama and Ebizo-sama's disciple?"

Maki's eyes were wide with disbelief.

The news felt surreal—it was like a regular university student suddenly being personally mentored by two of the most prestigious professors in the country.

And not just one—two at the same time.

"Who would lie about something like that?"

Hirito gave Maki an unimpressed look.

Despite Maki later becoming Rasa's right-hand man in the original timeline, he was still young and rather naive at this stage.

"Uhm… Hirito… I have a favor to ask!"

Pakura hesitated for a moment before clenching her fists in front of her chest, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

"Since you're so close to Chiyo-sama… could you get me an autograph?"

Hirito nearly choked.

In this era, Chiyo was at the peak of her career, admired as an idol by nearly all female shinobi in Sunagakure. The only other kunoichi who rivaled her reputation was Tsunade, who had only recently earned the title of "Legendary Sannin".

"Um… Sure. Next time I see Chiyo-sensei, I'll ask for you."

Pakura let out a tiny squeal of excitement, satisfied with his response.

Karasuke, who had been casually chewing on a dried lizard, waited until Hirito and the others finished talking before addressing them.

"Alright, in two days, we head to the battlefield.

"You're all assigned to the reserve forces, which means you're in a relatively safe position. But you still need to be fully prepared."

His gaze turned to Hirito.

"Hirito, with Elder Chiyo and Elder Ebizo guiding you in puppetry, I won't say much.

"However, in terms of ninjutsu and swordsmanship, if you have any questions, ask now."

He crossed his arms and continued.

"Even though the village will issue ninja tools and ration pills, it's always smart to prepare extra supplies. The battlefield is unpredictable. You never want to end up in a bad spot just because you ran out of gear.

"Even if you have extra supplies left after the war, you can still use them for future missions."

After finishing his long-winded lecture, Karasuke began giving individual instructions to each team member.

Despite his relaxed attitude, Karasuke was one of Sunagakure's best instructors.

He wasn't the strongest shinobi in the village, but his teaching ability and vast knowledge were nearly unrivaled. That's why he was entrusted with mentoring such a promising team.

Even though Hirito had not yet started medical ninjutsu training, Karasuke knew enough about the subject to provide guidance. He also understood sealing techniques and had mastery over Wind, Fire, and Lightning Release ninjutsu.

Additionally, he possessed knowledge of Sunagakure's traditional kenjutsu, passed down from the First Kazekage, Reto.

His well-rounded expertise allowed him to train Hirito, Pakura, and Maki comprehensively.

"**Right now, you are all in your prime training years. However, because your strength is already beyond your peers, your progress is now limited by your own body development and chakra reserves. That means you must work even harder to improve."

"**At this stage, your advancement will feel slower. So instead of just focusing on raw power, you should start covering your weaknesses."

Karasuke glanced at Hirito and Pakura.

"Hirito, Pakura—you two specialize in puppetry and ninjutsu, but no ninja can afford to have obvious weaknesses."

"If a ninja gains fame, their enemies will analyze their strengths and weaknesses under a magnifying glass. If they find a weakness, they'll exploit it. And if you don't fix it… you'll end up dead."

"So, starting today, you two need to train your taijutsu. Additionally, you should invest some time in swordsmanship."

Hirito sighed but nodded in agreement.

He had been considering this for a while—his close-combat skills were weak, and while his Fat Puppet provided protection, he couldn't rely on it forever.

After Karasuke's morning session, Hirito went to the puppet troops for his daily training—except now, he had a new focus.

Kenjutsu.

Hirito's swordsmanship skills were barely above novice level.

At the Ninja Academy, he had only learned basic techniques—how to hold a sword properly, how to strike, and a few simple steps and slashes meant for killing enemies efficiently.

True mastery, however, required much more.

Some of the more advanced techniques were passed down through clans, while others were found in Sunagakure's kenjutsu library.

Unfortunately, the First Kazekage, Reto, had specialized in ninjutsu, not swordsmanship. While he had developed a basic sword style for Sunagakure, it wasn't as refined as the Kenjutsu of the Senju Clan in Konoha—which had been perfected by Tobirama Senju.

Still, Hirito wasn't aiming to become a swordmaster. He just needed enough skill to handle close combat situations.

If he could reach a high enough level in Kenjutsu, it would complement his puppetry and Wind Speed Jutsu, making him a far more versatile fighter.

And with war approaching, versatility meant survival.
