Chapter 4 - Medicinal Bath

Chapter 4: Medicinal Bath

Kiba Village, a silent hot spring.

There were not many people here, and the few who walked around were either wealthy or noble.

Ruofeng strolled as the hot spring’s attendant approached with a respectful bow. “Young Master, today’s medicinal bath has been prepared. It has a different effect this time!”

Ruofeng turned his gaze toward the attendant. “What is different?”

At first, the medicinal baths had powerful effects, but over time, their potency had dulled. It was not an issue with the prescription itself—after all, Ruofeng’s medicinal bath formula had been obtained by Zuraya from Second Wood Mountain. And Second Wood Mountain was no ordinary place. It had ties to the legendary Sixth Path Immortal, and some even claimed the Rokudo Immortal himself had inherited its teachings. Within the entire shinobi world, the inheritance of Second Wood Mountain was unparalleled.

Jiraiya had formed a contract with the Toad Clan of Second Wood Mountain, gaining access to its vast resources. These resources were not only equal to those of the great clans but, in some ways, even surpassed them. Naturally, a medicinal bath recipe from such a place would be far superior to anything a noble family could offer.

The first time Ruofeng had soaked in a medicinal bath, he had felt his tender body strengthening, the change nearly tangible. Over time, the effects became less dramatic, but they never truly disappeared. The accumulation of these baths had already allowed his five-year-old body to reach the level of an Earth athlete.

At that moment, the attendant continued, “Young Master, Lord Jiraiya visited earlier. When he learned that you would be taking a medicinal bath, he used his summoning technique to bring some toad oil.”

“Oh…” A small smile formed on Ruofeng’s lips as he stepped inside the hot spring area.

He knew well what toad oil was. It was a crucial component in the cultivation of natural chakra at Second Wood Mountain. One of the most vital ingredients in Jiraiya’s medicinal bath formula was this very substance. Unfortunately, Jiraiya could not always stay to provide it, so Ruofeng had only experienced its effects once—during his first bath. The difference between a bath with and without toad oil was like night and day.

I did not expect to be this lucky today.

Still smiling, he made his way to his exclusive hot spring.

Upon pushing open the small wooden door, he was greeted by the sight of the steaming pool, a strong medicinal fragrance filling the air.

The maid accompanying him carefully took his clothes as Ruofeng stepped into the pool.

This particular hot spring was known for revitalizing blood and relieving stagnation. Many shinobi visited after completing missions, using the waters to heal minor injuries, dissolve internal wounds, and relax their minds. It was one of the reasons Kiba Village’s hot springs were so well-regarded.

However, the spring Ruofeng entered today was not just any hot spring—it was the private property of his grandfather. Unlike other baths, the water here had a significantly stronger effect, several times more potent than ordinary hot springs. As a result, only the wealthiest shinobi could afford to come here.

Ruofeng had chosen this place precisely for its quality. Otherwise, he would have taken the medicinal bath at home.

Sinking into the water, he slowly exhaled, releasing a breath of stale air. A faint energy seeped into his body, steadily refining and strengthening his flesh and bones.

“As expected of Second Wood Mountain’s formula. With the addition of toad oil, the effect is nearly ten times stronger. It even seems to faintly draw in natural chakra.”

There was admiration in his thoughts but also regret. If only toad oil could be stored outside Second Wood Mountain. The moment it leaves, it begins to evaporate…

Just as Ruofeng was savoring the strengthening sensation, the ground trembled beneath him.

His eyes narrowed. “What is going on?”

His childish voice carried a subtle warmth, yet a trace of irritation lingered beneath it.

The maid beside him also appeared confused. “Young Master… it seems that someone is causing trouble outside.”

“Trouble? Who would dare make trouble here?” Ruofeng frowned. Anyone who came to this place was either wealthy, noble or from a powerful clan. Causing a disturbance here meant risking offense against them all.

A sudden roar interrupted his thoughts.

“Jiraiya… YOU’RE DEAD!”

Boom!

The impact sent tremors through the building. Ruofeng’s expression shifted.

The maid quickly returned a hint of unease in her voice. “Young Master, outside… Lord Jiraiya and Lady Tsunade are fighting!”

“What?” Ruofeng’s face twitched. Jiraiya and Tsunade? Why are those two fighting here? Wait… could it be—

He sighed inwardly. Did Jiraiya get caught peeping again?

Ruofeng knew Jiraiya’s habits all too well. The man had a golden hot spring pass, allowing him unrestricted access. And yet, nine times out of ten, his visits were not for relaxation, but for research.

Could it be that this time, he had tried to spy on Tsunade?

Another boom shook the bathhouse.

Ruofeng’s eyes widened as the wooden partition in front of him exploded into splinters. Through the debris, a beautiful figure stepped forward.

Tsunade.

At this time, she was still young—around fifteen or sixteen—having just become a Jonin.

She stood wrapped in a bath towel, her right fist still crackling with residual chakra.

Her furious gaze locked onto the figure in the distance—Jiraiya, who had already been beaten beyond recognition.

“Jiraiya… YOU’RE DEAD!”

Tsunade roared and launched another devastating punch.

Ruofeng barely managed to suppress a shiver. Even just watching made his body feel weak.

This was his first time witnessing the true power of one of Kiba’s future legends.

Though both Tsunade and Jiraiya had only recently reached Jonin’s rank, their strength was undeniable.

Jiraiya’s body was sent flying, piercing through the roof before vanishing into the sky like a shooting star.

Tsunade exhaled sharply. “Bastard! If you dare peep again, I will kill you!”

Ruofeng let out a bitter chuckle. So this is a shinobi? This is Tsunade? So terrifying…

As he thought this, Tsunade turned her head, her sharp gaze locking onto him.

The fury in her eyes slowly faded.

A sudden breeze drifted through the broken roof, swirling the steam around them.

And then—

The towel wrapped around Tsunade slipped.

For a brief moment, Ruofeng was completely stunned. His eyes took in everything.

Is this… a blessing? A punishment?

The shock hit him harder than the explosion from earlier.

Tsunade stared at him. Then, she looked down at herself.

Her expression shifted.

Without hesitation, she leaped forward—straight into Ruofeng’s hot spring.

“Oh… a little brother,” she murmured.
