"Roar!"
A deafening roar tore through the heavens.
The Thunderclap Temple, an ancient monastery rebuilt countless times, met its inevitable fate—destruction under the wrath of the Two-Tails, Matatabi.
Waves of blue flames surged skyward. Rinjin tossed aside Master Chikū, facing the oncoming heatwave as his cloak billowed dramatically in the fiery gusts.
"What immense chakra! Come on, Matatabi, unleash your fury! I'll be waiting for you outside!"
With that, he formed a single hand seal, and his figure vanished, narrowly dodging Matatabi's lethal claw.
"Roar!" Another earth-shaking roar erupted as the chains binding the Two-Tails fell away effortlessly.
As expected, the chains had never truly restrained her.
Flames raged, and waves of scorching heat radiated from the ground.
At that moment, Rinjin's clones, who had been battling the Kumogakure ninja, suddenly launched suicidal charges toward their opponents.
Meanwhile, Rinjin had already surfaced above ground.
As the director of this grand performance, Rinjin decided to personally take the stage to ensure the pacing went exactly as planned.
The role he had assigned himself? A supporting character—Raimui's companion, Ōfu.
The real Ōfu, however, had long since departed this world.
Back at the Thunderclap Temple, the Kumogakure ninja wore expressions of deep concern.
Those privy to more information looked even grimmer.
The Two-Tails was about to break free!
And the Raikage, who had left earlier for the Valley of Clouds and Lightning to suppress the rampaging Eight-Tails Jinchūriki, had yet to arrive at the Thunderclap Temple.
Nevertheless, Kumogakure ninja were nothing if not bold. After a brief exchange of glances, the team leaders quickly reached a consensus.
"All units, evacuate the Thunderclap Temple immediately!
Split into squads and engage the Two-Tails from a distance.
Taijutsu specialists, follow me. Once the Two-Tails emerges, retrieve the Thunderclap Chains from the temple's main hall!"
The grizzled team leader, a middle-aged man with a face full of scars, was about to continue when a violent tremor interrupted him.
A pillar of ghostly blue flames erupted from the heart of the Thunderclap Temple, illuminating the heavens.
Amidst the flames, a pair of heterochromatic eyes—one yellow, one green—snapped open. A massive form cloaked in blue-black fire slowly emerged from the inferno.
Matatabi's gaze swept across the area, her fury palpable. In an instant, she locked onto Rinjin.
For Tailed Beasts, identifying humans wasn't about appearances—it was all about chakra. And to Matatabi, Rinjin's chakra was unmistakable.
At that moment, Rinjin, disguised as Ōfu, stood solemnly behind Raimui.
Come on, kitty, hit me! My skin's itching for it!
Though his expression was serious, the playful glint in Rinjin's eyes did not escape Matatabi's notice.
Courting death, are we?
Enraged, Matatabi didn't hesitate, unleashing a massive fireball directly at Rinjin.
According to the first law of the ninja world: Fire Release can never kill anyone with a name!
As the enormous fireball hurtled toward them, Raimui and the surrounding Kumogakure ninja immediately scattered in all directions.
Rinjin observed Raimui's movements and followed him, feigning an attempt to flee in the same direction.
Meanwhile, the other Kumogakure ninja, led by their captains, launched a coordinated assault on the Two-Tails.
Lightning Release and Water Release techniques surged forward like a tidal wave. Yet Matatabi paid no heed to these insignificant nuisances. Her sole target was Rinjin.
With a massive leap, Matatabi soared into the air, her jaws opening wide to unleash another devastating fireball. This time, the fireball split mid-air into smaller, mouse-like projectiles that rained down with pinpoint accuracy on the Kumogakure forces.
Simultaneously, Matatabi pounced toward Rinjin and Raimui's retreating figures.
Her enormous body moved with feline agility, closing the distance in a single bound.
Die!
Her eyes blazing with hatred, Matatabi's razor-sharp claws tore through the air, aiming squarely at Rinjin and Raimui.
At that moment, Raimui's once-arrogant demeanor had vanished, replaced by sheer terror. In the face of overwhelming power, all bravado crumbled.
"Raimui, get out of the way!"
Rinjin, in his guise as Ōfu, unleashed the performance of a lifetime. With a desperate roar, he grabbed Raimui and discreetly snapped the fingers he was using to form a hand seal.
Trying to escape with the Body Flicker Technique? Not on my watch!
To the other Kumogakure ninja, it appeared as though Ōfu had heroically thrown his stunned companion out of harm's way, sacrificing himself in the process.
But his strength fell short. Though Raimui was flung clear of Matatabi's claws, he was still sent flying by the residual force.
As for Ōfu, he lay motionless beneath Matatabi's paw.
A hero! Incredible! Sacrificing himself to save a comrade! Truly admirable!
In an instant, admiration and respect surged among the Kumogakure ninja.
Just a second before Matatabi's claws could crush him, Rinjin's eyes flickered with a sly glint. His lips curled into a faint smile as he formed a hidden hand seal.
"Flying Raijin: Instantaneous Reverse Rotation Technique!"
In the blink of an eye, Rinjin swapped places with one of his clones. The clone, now lying beneath Matatabi's paw, clutched a lifeless corpse.
All of this happened silently beneath Matatabi's massive claws.
"Boom!"
A deafening crash echoed as Matatabi's paw left a massive imprint on the ground.
Lifting her claw, Matatabi stared furiously at the mangled corpse embedded in the dirt.
Something's off! That's not him!
Where is he?
Not far away, Raimui—who had been sent tumbling—finally came to a stop at the base of a mountain, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Though his entire body throbbed with pain, particularly his twisted fingers, his face was etched with confusion.
Ōfu… What the hell is he doing?
Before he could make sense of the situation, a sudden, excruciating pain erupted from his chest.
A pair of eerily familiar hands emerged from his chest, clutching a still-beating red heart.
"Is… is this… my heart…?" Raimui gasped, blood spilling from his lips.
Before he could finish, the hands clenched tightly, crushing the heart in a spray of crimson.
Rinjin stood behind Raimui, his expression cold as he leaned close to whisper in his ear:
"Sorry, your part in the play is over."
"Now, it's my turn to take the stage."
With that, Rinjin and Raimui's figures vanished into the thick smoke.
Three seconds later, a battered and bloodied Raimui reappeared, his eyes blazing with fury.
At that moment, Matatabi abruptly turned her head toward the rising dust cloud.
She could sense it—that familiar, infuriating chakra had reappeared!
Damn it! What are you up to?
Though she had lived for countless years, Matatabi was still no match for human cunning.
And today, she had encountered Rinjin—a man whose deviousness knew no bounds.
In the end, she was nothing more than a dazzling puppet, manipulated to perfection.
Rinjin roared, his voice filled with raw emotion as he portrayed a man saved by his comrade, only to lose that comrade forever.
"Come on, monster!
Kill me!
Like you killed Ōfu!
Come on!"
He screamed hysterically, charging out of the smoke to hurl stones at Matatabi with all his might.
But against a colossal beast like Matatabi, such attacks were laughably futile.
Infuriated by the provocation, Matatabi roared and charged at Rinjin.
Using the steep mountainside behind him, Rinjin darted and weaved like a nimble mouse.
The scene was almost comical—a tiny ant taunting a massive giant.
But to the Kumogakure ninja, it was nothing short of heroic.
Seeing the bodies of their fallen comrades and Raimui's battered yet determined figure, their blood boiled.
"Hit her with everything you've got! Protect him! Hold out until the Raikage arrives!"
"Seize the chance Raimui is buying with his life! Taijutsu specialists, retrieve the Thunderclap Chains!"
"Damn it, hit her hard! Cover him! Cover him!"
"Raimui is risking his life to give us this opportunity. We can't let him die!"
The battlefield erupted with shouts as the ninja unleashed a torrent of jutsu at Matatabi.
Lightning crackled, and water surged, but Matatabi's massive claws swiped through the air, leaving afterimages in their wake.
Yet the small, darting figure continued to evade her, using the towering mountains to keep her at bay.
Meanwhile, the weaker attacks from the other ninja buzzed around her like pesky flies.
Whenever Matatabi tried to retaliate with a fireball, the "mouse" would taunt her with infuriating precision, drawing her attention back.
"Come on, kitty! Play with Daddy!"
"Fat cat! Run faster, your belly's dragging on the ground!"
"Matatabi, you're so cool, walking around in crotchless pants! Your guts are spilling out, and your butt's hanging low!"
Rinjin's taunts echoed across the battlefield like a demonic chant.
Matatabi, who had never been so insulted, felt herself nearing a breaking point.
Behind her, the Kumogakure ninja were utterly inspired.
Though they couldn't understand Raimui's words, they weren't fools.
Every time Matatabi turned her head, the taunts would ring out, drawing her attention back to the "mouse."
This was the pinnacle of provocation!
Rinjin, meanwhile, was grinning ear to ear.
Wow, are Tailed Beasts really this easy to provoke? I might've overestimated them!
Come on, hit me! My skin's itching for it!
Just as Rinjin was reveling in his success, Matatabi suddenly stopped.
Her heterochromatic eyes filled with wariness as she turned to face Kumogakure.
There, a towering figure wreathed in blinding lightning was charging toward her with terrifying speed.
The Third Raikage, A—the man hailed as the strongest Raikage, with a body so tough it was said to be unbreakable!
Ignoring the Thunderclap Chains wrapped around her, Matatabi spun back toward Rinjin, her jaws opening wide.
Before her, a sphere of blue and purple energy began to form.
Rinjin's scalp prickled with dread.
Shit! I went too far! She's going all out!
Aside from the Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails, Tailed Beasts rarely used Tailed Beast Bombs as a regular attack. The chakra consumption was simply too immense.
Even with their vast reserves, most Tailed Beasts could only manage five or six before needing to rest.
Of course, the Nine-Tails was an exception—it played by its own rules.
But the Tailed Beast Bomb had another drawback: a long charge time.
If there were no witnesses, Rinjin wouldn't have been worried. Even if all nine Tailed Beasts ganged up on him, he wouldn't bat an eye.
Flying Raijin Jutsu, anyone?
But now, with the Raikage closing in and all eyes on him, Rinjin was out of options.
I'm screwed. Totally screwed. I overplayed my hand.
Running toward the Raikage for protection was out of the question—the Raikage was heading straight for Kumogakure.
Charging beneath Matatabi's massive frame to hide in her blind spot? Also a no-go.
The Thunderclap Chains wrapped around her meant she could safely detonate a Tailed Beast Bomb beneath her without harm. The Kumogakure ninja, however, wouldn't be so lucky.
Realizing his predicament, Rinjin gritted his teeth and bolted toward the distance.
If worst came to worst, he'd have to abandon the plan.
Who could've guessed this kitty had such a short temper? All I did was say a few words, and now she's ready to blow me up!
Typical bad sport! So weak!
As the Tailed Beast Bomb neared completion, Matatabi aimed it squarely at Rinjin, who was sprinting for his life.
Suddenly, a deafening crack split the air!
A blue streak of lightning accelerated to its limit, streaking across the battlefield like a shooting star.
In that critical moment, an enraged roar erupted.
"Hell Stab: One-Finger Nukite!"
Rinjin, glancing back, witnessed a sight he would never forget.
The Third Raikage, A, with his index finger extended like a lightning spear, struck Matatabi squarely under the jaw.
Her head snapped upward, and the Tailed Beast Bomb shot harmlessly into the sky.
"Amazing… Absolutely amazing!" Rinjin muttered, frozen in awe as he stared at the towering, electrified figure of the strongest man alive.
If Hashirama Senju's Thousand-Armed Buddha and Madara Uchiha's Susanoo represented overwhelming, all-encompassing destruction…
Then the Third Raikage, A, was the embodiment of pure, focused power.
Looking at A's dashing figure in the distance, Rinjin felt an overwhelming surge of emotion. Tears of gratitude streamed… from the corner of his mouth.
Muttering to himself, he whispered:
"Coach, I want to learn that!"
