Chapter 8: Meeting
The Uzumaki Clan had built a temporary shelter in Mount Myōboku. The horrors of war slowly faded as everyone filled their stomachs and fell into deep, exhausted sleep.
On the other side of the camp, Raiken had gathered 26 individuals which is Shinobi both male and female, for a crucial meeting that would determine the future of the Uzumaki Clan.
"We can only stay here temporarily, not permanently. The best place for our clan to live peacefully is in Konoha," said Raiken firmly.
Some of the attendees nodded in agreement, but not all were convinced. Among the doubters were Hiroki, Arata, and Kenshiro. Before they followed Raiken lead, they had attended the previous elder council meeting, where suspicions about Konoha had been openly discussed.
"Uzukage-sama, wasn't it Konoha who betrayed us?" Kenshiro questioned, his voice sharp, drawing murmurs of surprise from others.
"It's true that we suspected Konoha during the last meeting," Raiken acknowledged. "But let's be realistic. When we had over 3,000 members, the enemy village found it easy to wipe us out. Now that we're down to around 500 people, how can we resist them if they choose to attack again?"
He continued, "We can't stay here forever. I don't think the toads will allow us permanent residence and if they do how do we want to eat?"
"But...." Kenshiro tried to argue, but Raiken swiftly cut him off.
"Also, look at the land. It's not suitable for farming. The soil here is barren. Do you want to eat worms like the toads do?" Raiken asked, raising an eyebrow.
Gulp!
Just earlier, a friendly toad had offered them a meal of worms. Fortunately, Raiken had declined, explaining that they still had rations from Uzushiogakure.
"We can use this place for temporary refuge, but nothing more and we need to back to our dimension," Raiken repeated, reinforcing his point.
"I understand, but if Konoha really did betray us, what's our next move?" Kenshiro asked.
"Let me first explain the geopolitical situation in Konoha," said Raiken. "On the surface, the Hokage governs with fairness and justice. But behind the scenes, the village systematically suppresses the Uchiha Clan."
"Uchiha?" some clan members murmured, confused. "But what does that have to do with us?"
"Listen carefully," Raiken said. "If there was betrayal, I don't believe it came from the Hokage himself, but from his subordinate which is Shimura Danzo."
[Viewer Rebel Rob laughed and donated 20 stars]
[Viewer Tiago Jose became amused and donated 10 stars]
Raiken smiled at the donations. Exposing the hidden truths about Konoha seemed to be attracting more viewers. He quickly turned off the notification pop-up to avoid further distractions and continued speaking.
"This man, Danzo, is the one we must be most wary of. With the Hokage's approval, Danzo created a secret group known as Root, despite the existence of the official Anbu division."
"Root?" one of the clan members asked, confused.
"Yes, Root. The name itself implies darkness, if you look at tree there are leaf and also roots. If Sarutobi Hiruzen represents the light or leaf, then Root operates in the shadows. They carry out the dirty work such as assassinations that the anbu cannot kill, illegal experiments, and other actions even the Anbu would never dare attempt," Raiken explained.
The room grew silent, heavy breathing filling the space as the gravity of Raiken words sank in. The original Raiken never knew this, but thanks to his knowledge of the Naruto manga, he now held critical insight and knowledge of the cannon timeline.
"So, if Danzo sees our clan as a threat, he will undoubtedly target us. And since Danzo operates under the Hokage protection, we need allies within the village that can stop Danzo," Raiken said.
"I still don't understand, wasn't there Mito sama to protect us," one of the members replied, furrowing their brow.
"Mito-sama had become very old, if she died in 5 years, then our people would only be protected for 5 years, and it is different if we ally ourselves with the Uchiha Clan. Because the Uchiha Clan has been assigned the role of Konoha police force. They can recruit anyone they choose. While it seems like a prestigious role, it's actually a double-edged sword. It isolates them from the village, breeds suspicion, and makes it difficult for others to trust them. But in return, it provides them with some protection," Raiken explained.
"Protection?" another member repeated.
"Yes. Danzo can abduct civilians or clan members at will. The only forces that can stop him are the Hokage and the Uchiha. Because of their role, the Uchiha have the authority to determine whether someone becomes a police officer, a ninja, or an Anbu," Raiken added.
"I understand now, Uzukage-sama," Arata said, smiling. "So, you're saying we should cooperate with the Uchiha and integrate our people into the police force?"
"Exactly," Raiken confirmed with a nod.
"But will they even allow us in?" asked another Uzumaki member.
"Not at first," Raiken admitted. "That's why I plan to marry one of their clan members."
A collective gasp echoed through the gathering.
Raiken felt a surge of star donations, though he had disabled the notification. Still, he could imagine the amused reactions from his viewers.
"Uzukage-sama… no, are you truly our Uzukage," someone said, half in shock, half in admiration.
"Did you know that the Uzumaki and Uchiha are both descendants of the Sage of Six Paths? The Uchiha inherited the Sage eyes, while we Uzumaki inherited his body. By combining our bloodlines, our descendants will become stronger than either of us," Raiken revealed.
Silence once again fell over the room. Some members even asked him to repeat what he had just said, stunned by the revelation.
"Yes, it's true. That's why I don't feel like it's a loss to marry into the Uchiha Clan," Raiken said with a chuckle. He added privately in his thought, 'Besides, Uchiha women are incredibly beautiful.'
"But what about the clan name?" another person asked.
"I'll propose we use the name Otsutsuki. Our great ancestor, the Sage of Six Paths, was named Otsutsuki Hagoromo," Raiken said.
Hearing the name "Hagoromo" caused those who had doubted Raiken claims about the Uchiha lineage to reconsider. If such a name existed in their records, surely there was some truth to what he was saying.
Raiken plan was bold but in the eyes of his people, it was starting to look like the only path forward for them to survive in Konoha.
.....
P/S: Notification...
