Chapter 41: Chapter:41
Uchiha Hirito didn't waste any time after becoming Hokage. The next day, he ordered Uchiha Tomita to pack their belongings for an immediate trip to the capital of the Land of Fire to request financial assistance from the Daimyo.
Konoha's coffers were running dangerously low. Despite its reputation as a ninja village, Konoha functioned more like a mercenary organization, with the Daimyo of the Land of Fire as its main employer. However, the lack of funding had left the village on the brink of mutiny.
Tomita nodded seriously, leaving to prepare for the journey. Hirito leaned back in his chair, frustrated.
Hirito slapped his face lightly, shaking off his dark thoughts. He suddenly remembered the system's notification—he had completed a long-term mission: Become the Hokage of Konoha.
A wave of excitement surged through him. "Finally, a reward!"
Hirito activated the system and opened the roulette wheel.
"Please, let it be something good this time," he prayed silently, listing the names of every deity he could think of before clicking the spin button.
The wheel spun rapidly, the pointer darting across various rewards. Finally, it stopped on a golden square.
Reward: Mangekyō Sharingan (Uchiha Itachi version).
Hirito froze. "Of course... It's useful, but not exactly what I was hoping for."
The Mangekyō Sharingan was undoubtedly powerful, but it came with a significant drawback: overuse could lead to blindness. Hirito sighed, suppressing his disappointment.
A sudden wave of energy surged into his eyes, filling his body with a chaotic, cold chakra. The overwhelming sensation made him shudder.
Then, just as quickly, a soothing sensation washed over him, clearing any negative effects.
"At least the system ensured I wouldn't lose control," Hirito muttered, his mood improving slightly.
Hirito's excitement waned as the system displayed a slew of new missions. His brow furrowed as he scrolled through the list.
Long-term Mission: Defeat Hashirama Senju head-on.
Reward: Golden lottery opportunity.
Long-term Mission: Defeat Uchiha Madara head-on.
Reward: Golden lottery opportunity.
Long-term Mission: Defeat Kaguya Ōtsutsuki head-on.
Reward: Golden lottery opportunity.
Hirito stared at the screen, dumbfounded. "Is this a joke? These aren't tasks—these are death sentences!"
Frustrated, he skipped to the next section, hoping for something more achievable.
Long-term Mission: Recognition from predecessors.
Obtain the genuine acknowledgment of all previous Hokage.
Reward: Golden lottery opportunity.
Hirito groaned. "Hashirama might be easy to fool, but Tobirama? He'd probably kill me on sight."
He scrolled further, finding more impossible tasks.
Long-term Mission: Build Konoha into a global ninja hub.
Make other ninja villages abandon their allegiance to join Konoha.
Reward: Golden lottery opportunity.
Long-term Mission: Heart of Iron.
Create a modern army and destroy an entire ninja village.
Reward: Golden lottery opportunity.
Long-term Mission: Food Controller.
Establish a company to dominate the ninja world's food industry.
Reward: Golden lottery opportunity.
"Is the system trying to turn me into a corporate tycoon or a warlord?" Hirito grumbled, rubbing his temples.
Finally, he reached the last section: lifestyle missions.
Hirito's expression soured as he read through the lifestyle tasks.
Long-term Mission: Own three or more widows.
Reward: Ten lottery chances.
Long-term Mission: —sleep with your brother's Wife after marriage.
Reward: Ten lottery chances.
Long-term Mission: Marry twin sisters.
Reward: Ten lottery chances.
Long-term Mission: Marry someone significantly younger.
Reward: Ten lottery chances.
"What is this nonsense?" Hirito exclaimed. "Does the system think I'm running a soap opera?"
Frustration boiled over. "This system is clearly out to ruin me! How am I supposed to maintain any dignity with these tasks?"
He slammed his fist on the table, startling Manji, who was perched nearby.
Outside the room, Tomita paused mid-step, hearing the thuds from Hirito's frustration. A wry smile crossed his face. "Being Hokage isn't easy," he muttered, shaking his head.
