Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Movements from All Sides

"What did you just say? Ōnoki is dead?!"

Hearing Mabui's report, the Fourth Raikage, Ay, sprang up from his seat, his body instinctively activating his Lightning Release Chakra Mode in response to the shock. Blue lightning crackled around him, the energy mirroring his turbulent emotions.

Ōnoki, the man who had been meeting with him just days ago, was dead?!

"Yes, Raikage-sama." Mabui's voice was steady, though her forehead glistened with a cold sweat.

"The massive explosion in Iwagakure last night has already drawn the attention of numerous factions.

"Our spies confirmed it— Iwagakure has been reduced to rubble. The Third Tsuchikage, Ōnoki, is dead!"

Even she had found it hard to believe when the intel first reached her hands. To think that in a single night, an entire village could be annihilated… It was impossible not to shudder at the thought. If someone could destroy Iwagakure, what was stopping them from doing the same to Kumogakure?

"Do we know who's behind this?" Ay's usual fiery temperament had dimmed, replaced by an uncharacteristic wariness.

No one understood Iwagakure and Ōnoki's strength better than Ay. His father, the Third Raikage, had died at the hands of Iwagakure's forces, holding off ten thousand Iwa-nin in a battle that had become legend.

Among the Five Great Shinobi Nations, Iwagakure had the largest population of shinobi. On top of that, there was Ōnoki, wielder of the formidable Dust Release, a technique that even Ay's father—who possessed the ultimate defense of the "strongest shield"—dared not take head-on.

Ōnoki wasn't just strong, he was also a seasoned tactician, the longest-serving Kage among them. It was this cunning that had secured him the position of Supreme Commander for the Allied Shinobi Forces in their earlier meetings.

And now, they were telling him that Ōnoki was gone, and Iwagakure obliterated? It was unfathomable.

Mabui swallowed hard before continuing. Her voice trembled slightly as she read from the classified report in her hands.

"Ōnoki's granddaughter, Kurotsuchi, led about a thousand surviving Iwa-nin and nearly ten thousand civilians to the Land of Earth's capital. The daimyo has allocated them a piece of land for refuge.

"According to the accounts from Kurotsuchi and the remaining Iwa-nin, the one who killed Ōnoki and destroyed Iwagakure was… Senju Tobirama."

The words fell, and silence engulfed the Raikage's office like a suffocating shroud.

...

In a dim, damp cave, figures began to materialize one after another.

The entire Akatsuki had gathered, the news of Iwagakure's annihilation clearly reaching their ears. Yet, as these infamous rogue shinobi assembled, an unnatural silence hung in the air. No one spoke first.

"The old man actually…" Deidara, with his distinctive blond ponytail, uncharacteristically lowered his head, a rare trace of emotion softening his usually flamboyant demeanor. Despite their differences, he couldn't deny a lingering sentiment for Ōnoki, his former teacher.

But it didn't last long. Deidara quickly raised his head, a crazed grin spreading across his face.

"What an unparalleled masterpiece of ultimate art! Whoever did this truly understands me—blowing up Iwagakure was always my dream!"

No one acknowledged his outburst.

"It was Senju Tobirama," Zetsu's raspy voice broke the tension. "He used the Flying Thunder God Technique to infiltrate Iwagakure last night. Alone, he wiped out the entire village."

Zetsu's statement caused even the normally composed Akatsuki members to flinch. The organization's plans had already been precarious, but this… this was something else entirely.

When Zetsu and Tobi first received the intel, their expressions had betrayed genuine panic. The Akatsuki's strategy had been straightforward: provoke tensions among the villages, sabotage them with White Zetsu clones, and push the Fourth Shinobi War into motion. Amid the chaos, they would seize all the jinchūriki.

But this? This changed everything.

Senju Tobirama alone had dismantled an entire village.

Black Zetsu lowered his head, his mind racing. Would they need to bring Uchiha Madara back earlier than planned? The Akatsuki, as it stood, wasn't capable of opposing someone like Tobirama.

Elsewhere, Kakuzu turned away silently. He was already considering whether it was time to cut ties with the Akatsuki. He had been coerced into joining, and with Hidan captured by Konoha, his sense of loyalty was paper-thin. Now, with the revelation of Tobirama's strength, Kakuzu had no intention of risking his ancient life.

"No wonder he's from the same era as Madara," Kisame thought to himself, his shark-like grin unfaltering. "This kind of power is awe-inspiring."

As someone personally recruited by Madara, Kisame wasn't overly worried. If Tobirama was this strong, Madara would surely be even stronger.

At the center of it all, Pain stood silently, his usual composure shaken.

Inwardly, Nagato was questioning his divinity. Sure, he could destroy a village with his ultimate Shinra Tensei, but it would require focusing all his chakra into the Deva Path and sacrificing his lifespan. And even then, he would only be leveling the village's terrain, not fending off tens of thousands of shinobi in the process.

But Tobirama had done it.

For the first time, Nagato doubted whether he could claim the Nine-Tails and One-Tail under such circumstances.

A thought crossed his mind—a flicker of opportunity. Orochimaru.

Pain's voice finally broke the silence.

"Cancel all sabotage missions on the other villages. Halt the collection of tailed beasts.

"Zetsu, contact Orochimaru and tell him to prepare the Edo Tensei.

"Akatsuki, prepare for battle with Senju Tobirama!"

Tobirama's overwhelming strength posed a grave threat. If left unchecked, he would destroy the other villages one by one, bolstering Konoha's power. At that point, there would be no hope of collecting the tailed beasts—every nation would submit to Konoha instead.

With his orders given, Pain vanished into the shadows.

The other Akatsuki members didn't disperse immediately. Instead, they lingered, quietly murmuring amongst themselves, each harboring their own private thoughts.

...

Land of Fields

In his hidden laboratory, Orochimaru tinkered with the components for Edo Tensei, humming softly.

Tobi had provided him with an abundance of strange white creatures—perfect for crafting nearly flawless reincarnations, whose power was nearly indistinguishable from their living counterparts.

"Orochimaru, I need you to resurrect Uchiha Madara."

The sudden voice from the shadows made Orochimaru pause, his usually steady hands faltering. A dark figure emerged beside him, its presence sending a shiver down his spine.
