Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Resurrection of the Dead

Inside the Hokage's Office,

Tobirama Senju, Tsunade, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Madara Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, Shikaku Nara… the prominent figures of Konoha gathered, their gazes fixed on the tightly bound figure in front of them.

The side effects of using the Rinnegan to drain his life force were already evident on Obito. Once a man in his prime, barely over twenty, his hair was now brittle and streaked with white, and faint wrinkles adorned his once youthful face.

Coupled with the half-crushed side of his face and the empty black eye socket where an eye once was, Obito looked like a demon straight out of hell.

"Rin... Rin... Rin…"

A faint, almost inaudible mumble escaped Obito's lips. If one didn't listen carefully, they might have missed it.

Kakashi sighed deeply, his expression filled with pain and helplessness.

Since Obito's capture and return to Konoha, he had been a hollow shell of his former self, as if his very soul had been torn away. The only thing keeping him alive had been the faint hope tied to his grandiose plan for the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

But with Tobirama's intervention, everything had come to a halt. Obito's current state was hardly surprising.

"So, the masked man pretending to be our ancestor, Madara... turns out to be another Uchiha after all…"

Itachi's gaze deepened as he observed Obito.

He had crossed paths with Obito during the Uchiha Clan's massacre and had joined the Akatsuki under the masked man's guidance. Itachi had always believed the man to be Uchiha Madara.

Now that the mask was off, the revelation left him shaken.

Obito had once been well-known within the Uchiha clan—not for his brilliance, but as an oddity. In a clan teeming with geniuses, a "dead last" like Obito had been a rarity.

Adding to his infamy was the Sharingan he had gifted to Kakashi, which earned Kakashi the title of "Copy Ninja." That single act had turned Obito into a curious subject of Konoha's occasional gossip.

Even Itachi had seen Obito's name engraved on the memorial stone in the Konoha cemetery.

Who would have thought that such an unassuming Uchiha could orchestrate such monumental schemes in the ninja world?

"Minato... how did you end up with a student like this?" Jiraiya muttered, his tone a mix of anger and sorrow.

"Minato Namikaze… I really liked that student of yours. He was so much better than you ever were, Jiraiya…" Tsunade sighed as she recalled the cheerful, golden-haired youth from her memories.

After bringing Obito back to the village, Tobirama had explained the truth behind everything. However, he had yet to mention the Otsutsuki clan's involvement, deeming it too fantastical for now. That revelation could wait until the ninja world was united.

"Hokage-sama, how should we deal with Uchiha Obito?"

Shikaku Nara took a deep breath, calming himself after the initial shock.

Obito's crimes were vast and unforgivable. Just his role in the Nine-Tails' attack alone was enough to make every citizen of Konoha despise him. Death would be too merciful for such a man.

Still, the fact that Tobirama had brought him back alive suggested there was more to the decision. Shikaku sought the Hokage's guidance.

At his question, all eyes turned to Tobirama, awaiting his verdict.

"How to handle Obito… Let's leave that decision to the families of his victims."

Tobirama's calm words left everyone puzzled.

With his keen sensory abilities, Tobirama already knew Naruto was standing outside the door.

The next moment, a knock echoed through the room.

"Come in."

The wooden door creaked open, revealing Naruto's figure. His jacket was damp with tears.

"Hokage-Grandpa, Pervy Sage, Kakashi-sensei…"

"Am I really the son of the Fourth Hokage?"

Though his voice trembled with emotion, Naruto still managed to greet the elders before asking the question burning in his heart.

"Naruto…"

"Were my parents truly heroes?!"

This time, Naruto's voice rose, almost a shout.

Jiraiya and Kakashi exchanged bitter glances, their hearts heavy with guilt.

Back then, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, had decided to keep Naruto's heritage a secret.

Jiraiya, traveling the world in search of the Toad Sage's prophesied child, was rarely in the village.

Kakashi, grappling with the losses of his father, comrades, and mentor, had sunk into despair, unable to support anyone, let alone Naruto.

The murky politics within the village had only made matters worse. They couldn't do anything for Naruto back then.

"Yes, Naruto. Your parents, Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze, gave their lives to protect the village. They were heroes."

After a long pause, Jiraiya finally nodded.

"Then why... why didn't anyone tell me?!"

Naruto's tears flowed freely now, his sobs filling the room.

Jiraiya and Kakashi hung their heads in silence. How could they explain the Third Hokage's schemes to a child?

"Naruto."

This time, it was Tobirama who spoke.

"Second Grandpa," Naruto replied softly.

After learning from Jiraiya that this youthful-looking man was his Third Grandpa's teacher, Naruto had started addressing Tobirama as "Second Grandpa."

"The person responsible for your parents' deaths is here. What do you want to do with him?"

Tobirama gestured to the battered and frail Obito on the floor.

"The one who killed my parents?"

Naruto's tear-streaked face turned toward Obito, disbelief written across it.

His eyes briefly flashed with anger and hatred, but when he saw Obito's pitiful state, pity softened his gaze.

"I… I don't know…"

Naruto shook his head. Even knowing the truth, he couldn't bring himself to seek vengeance.

"Jiraiya, take Naruto to see Hiruzen Sarutobi. Let him explain why Naruto's identity was hidden."

Tobirama sighed, unwilling to force Naruto into seeking revenge.

"Naruto, come with me."

Jiraiya took Naruto's hand and led him out of the office.

"For now, lock Obito up," Tobirama ordered coldly.

Unlike Naruto, he harbored no compassion for Obito. If Naruto couldn't exact revenge, then others who had suffered might decide Obito's fate.

"Now, let's witness something extraordinary—bringing the dead back to life!"

"Bringing the dead back to life?!"

The room buzzed with shock, even Madara raising a surprised eyebrow.

Tobirama's lips curled into a faint smile. Orochimaru had sent word that Hidan's secret technique, the "One's Own Life Reincarnation," was nearly perfected. They could now revive the dead.
