Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 118: Chapter 118: The Turning Point

"Sasuke... I didn't expect you to become so strong," Naruto murmured in awe. Hidden atop a rocky outcrop, he lay on his stomach, watching the intense battle below.

The sight of Sasuke effortlessly slicing the massive steel cylinder in two had stunned everyone in Team Seven—everyone except Kirito.

Kakashi and Sakura exchanged solemn glances. Both were thinking the same thing: the stronger Sasuke became, the harder it would be to bring him back to the village.

"I didn't expect Sasuke to refine the Chidori to this level," Kakashi muttered, his keen eye discerning the technique's mechanics. Sasuke had pushed the lightning jutsu to incorporate the slicing precision usually associated with wind-based chakra.

Kirito, observing the fight, decided against deploying Sasori's "Hundred Puppet Performance." Sasuke's ferocious attacks left no room for error, and Kirito was reluctant to risk the irreplaceable puppets. Sasori's puppets, crafted from the bodies of fallen masters, were too valuable to gamble on a non-lethal encounter.

On the battlefield, Sasuke's sword closed in on Sasori, lightning crackling along its blade.

Sasori, calculating the risk, didn't attempt to block the blade directly. Instead, he maneuvered the steel cable from his abdomen, using its length to circumvent Sasuke's guard and aim for an unprotected angle.

Sasuke's Sharingan immediately caught the movement, and he adjusted his swing, intercepting the cable's path.

Clang! The tip of the steel cable collided with the electrified Kusanagi sword, but Sasuke frowned.

"It didn't cut through?" he muttered, noticing that the blade's edge was dulled. A layer of iron sand coated the cable, effectively neutralizing the cutting power of his sword.

Sasori, unmoved, increased his chakra output. Using the momentum of the cable, he knocked Sasuke off balance, sending him flying backward.

In midair, Sasuke quickly formed seals. As he flipped backward, he released a massive fireball. "Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

Sasori countered without hesitation, unleashing a torrent of scorching flames from his mechanical arm. "Hellfire Blaze!"

The two blazing attacks collided, creating an intense heat wave that rippled across the battlefield. Even Team Seven, observing from their hiding spot, felt the warmth.

"Heh... Sasori, what will you do now?" Orochimaru called out mockingly. He could see Sasori struggling, his attacks growing more defensive.

Orochimaru had no intention of helping Sasuke. He wanted to observe Sasuke's progress and remain vigilant for any hidden threats. From the start, his instincts had warned him that something was off about this encounter.

As Sasuke's fireball clashed with Sasori's flames, a shadow darted forward beneath the fiery chaos.

Zzzzz... The sound of crackling lightning pierced the air as Sasuke's shadow clone lunged with a Chidori, aiming directly for Sasori's chest.

Crack! The lightning-infused strike shattered the black rod embedded in Sasori's chest, the core of his puppet body.

Sasuke's Sharingan had revealed the rod's chakra transmission, allowing him to deduce its importance and orchestrate the perfect sneak attack using his shadow clone for cover.

Sasori staggered, his movements growing stiff. His head turned slowly toward Sasuke, his expression blank. "Yes... it can end now," he murmured.

With the core damaged, Sasori's flame mechanism ceased, and Sasuke's fireball roared forward unimpeded.

Whoosh... Ka-ka-ka!

Before the fireball could engulf Sasori, a freezing wind swept across the battlefield. The flames extinguished instantly, and the once-barren Gobi desert was transformed into a glacial wasteland.

Sasuke landed gracefully but tensed as his feet met the icy ground. The chilling air sent shivers down his spine, and his brow furrowed in recognition.

Moments later, four figures descended from the sky, landing in front of Sasori's fallen form.

"Sasuke!" Naruto's voice rang out, unrestrained and filled with emotion.

From his vantage point, Orochimaru frowned deeply. "What's going on here? Could Sasori and Konoha have formed an alliance?"

The timing of Team Seven's appearance puzzled him. Orochimaru knew Sasori's personality; the puppet master wouldn't have allowed others to use him as bait.

Kirito glanced at Sasori's damaged puppet body. Seeing the gaping hole in the chest, he sighed internally. Sasuke didn't hold back at all... I thought he might aim to capture, not destroy.

Kirito sealed Sasori's puppet into a scroll, contemplating whether he should let Sasori himself repair it later. After all, it was his body.

Sasuke turned to face the familiar faces of Team Seven, his Sharingan spinning lazily. "So, everyone's here..."

"Sasuke, come back with us!" Sakura pleaded. "We've been searching for you ever since you left!"

"Yeah, we're not leaving without you this time!" Naruto added, his voice filled with determination.

But Sasuke's cold demeanor remained unshaken. "I have one goal: to kill Itachi. If giving my body to Orochimaru helps me achieve that, I'll do it without hesitation."

"Sasuke!" Naruto's anger flared, and the Nine Tails' chakra began leaking from his body, surrounding him in a red aura.

Just as Naruto crouched to charge, a sharp slap to his back staggered him. The tailed beast chakra dissipated instantly.

"Calm down," Kirito said, stepping forward. He secured the scroll containing Sasori's puppet and pointed toward Sasuke. "One objective is to bring him back..."

Kirito then pointed at Orochimaru in the distance. "The other is to capture him."
