From the cover, simultaneously the Konoha Shinobi leapt from their hiding spots after removing the seals. The sensory scouts and drones were caught off guard with their sense overwhelmed with the sudden influx of presences. The squads made with both chemistry and effectiveness in mind took out their counterparts using the elements of surprise. They stuck to the plan, moving to points and confronting squads as designated. Katsuro watched from behind seeing the plan unfold. He could see his side overwhelming their opponents, their sly plan and ambush while being led from the front by a vanguard made of the Senju, Uzumaki and Hyuga meant they were rolling through the unprepared Kiri Shinobi.
He watched his clan members use their strength, physique, ninjutsu and seals being led by Kaito while the Hyuga used their Gentle Fist with precision, incapacitating and killing whoever came in their path. He could see standouts in the fight where Konoha seemed unstoppable. Kaito with his arsenal of Ninjutsu and high chakra capacity laying large scale waste to multiple squads as he supported his clan. Katsuro's students who mainly stuck with the Senju and Uzumaki who seemed like an untouchable elite force led from the front by Tenaki with his new weapon wielding it with surprising efficiency thanks to the emergency training Katsuro had forced him through for accepting the sword. He moved like a whirlwind, being able to just cut through most weapons was a new found blessing and Katsuro was almost sure he saw him laughing. That kid, I need to stop him from being so reckless before he gets killed. He's fortunate this battlefield is as controlled as one can be.
Hyuga Hizashi and Hiashi were as strong as Half-Step Kages, and were themselves looking like an unstoppable train only limited by their close range techniques. But even they paled in front of the man many Konoha Shinobi once looked down upon. Might Duy in his green overalls and with a green aura from already being in the 6th gate was tearing through Shinobi, eager to prove himself. And that he did, his comrades around him doubted his power but trusted Katsuro's judgement to place him in the vanguard, as a leader no less, but even with high expectations they were blown at the water. Seeing the true strength of a man they thought was useless tearing through their enemies almost effortlessly even if he did begin slowing down, made their view of Shinobi shatter. But Katsuro himself was just pleased seeing Duy spearhead an attack for his comrades behind him. He knew of the man's strength, and now many more did too.
But the final person that caught Katsuro's eye was one of the few Uchiha clan members on this battlefield. A young boy who looked barely out of the academy was fighting with the skill of someone twice his age. Katsuro particularly noted his prowess with the bodyflicker technique and Genjutsu as he watched him body flicker to a frozen body of a person who made the mistake of looking him in the eye thinking that a child couldn't possibly possess the Sharingan. Katsuro made a mental note to talk to that child later as he realised he'd developed a liking towards raising children and geniuses.
As Konoha moved inwards towards the Kiri camp, the Kiri Shinobi were finally geared up and ready, but instead of meeting to confront them, they seemed to be trying to retreat. Only a few Shinobi moved outwards, engaging with the Konoha Shinobi at the forefront to slow them down for their comrades' escape. Part of these were 2 swordsmen who leaped out and had pretty large chakra signatures, one had a long sword with a wire attached who was slender and tall, had very long puffy blonde hair and wore a mask. The other had what looked like a sword with a large scroll attached to it and had many bandages with an eye patch and a braided beard.
As they moved separately trying to counter attack and deal as much damage as they could without over extending, immediately as they were sensed by the Hyuga, several figures moved to intercept them. Against the man wielding the scroll sword Shibuki, which could cause explosions with explosion tags when hitting someone, Kaito with a couple Uzumaki as assurances moved to engage. Similarly, the Hyuga brothers went straight for the man with the Nuibari sword, which had insane penetration power and acted as a human sewing needle.
As they engaged, to the shock of the swordsmen themselves who only expected to fear Katsuro, especially after receiving orders saying they could retreat without consequence when facing him, they found themselves losing. Kaito's proficiency in long range Ninjutsu enhanced by the Senju reserve made him a perfect opponent against Jinpachi Musashi the Shibuki wielder as it would require contact for the explosive tags to take effect. The support by the Uzumaki who with their sealing and experience with explosive tags and addition of their own chakra reserve spewing ninjutsu meant Jinpachi was thoroughly being suffocated. Similarly, Kushimaru Kurirarare was suffering under the onslaught through the perfect teamwork of the Taijutsu experts. Their Byakugan and Taijutsu skill as they covered each other gave him no opportunity as they dodged his attacks rendering the effect of his blade useless. As they hit more Tenketsu points, he was slowing down considerably, meaning even more of their attacks landed. Soon, the future where he survived seemed to be closing completely.
Katsuro observed these changes, nodding at everything seemingly going to plan. Eventually his own turn came around, as those carrying his Kunai had finished placing them and throwing them. With a deep breath, he unsheathed his new blades, the Kiba which he would definitely have to modify later to better suit him. He used the Flying Raijin using the Light Step Style: Formation 2. Like a ghost Katsuro was seen taking lives in mere moments before he disappeared to repeat the same action, this specific formation of the light step style was focussed on containment and killing those who seemed to try to escape. Though he was using considerable chakra from the constant teleportation, Katsuro's kill count was racking up like dominoes. It was seeming hopeless, and the Kiri commander after the 2 Ninja Swordsman of the Mist was forced to make a decision.
Unfortunately, it would be the wrong one, and no surrender was given. As he was eventually cut down by a large crescent that looked like a blade of wind with several of his comrades by a shadow clone of Katsuro using the Wind Style: Breath of the Wind Emperor, he was regretting strongly that a suitable Jinchuuriki for the Three tails had not shown up, as after the death of numerous 'test subjects' the three tails was sitting in its sealing cage, collecting dust.
This battle was not one of surprises, there was no sudden change or hero moment. According to the plan Katsuro and his entourage had orchestrated through their scouting efforts Konoha knew clearly the combat power of Kiri, how their guard rotations worked and even who the Ninja swordsmen were, as such, Kiri was cut down to their last man with stubborn leaders and their own pride forbidding a surrender, hoping that a single more Shinobi they took down would help their Mizukage and comrades. But deep down they knew, soon, they would not be alone in the afterlife.
As Konoha assessed their injuries, healed their wounded and collected their spoils of war Katsuro noticed they once again picked up 2 more of Kirigakure's famous blades. At the rate he was collecting he feared soon Kirigakure would no longer have any 7 Ninja blades at all. As loyal as they were the Uzumaki and Kaito who killed their target presented the blade still covered in blood, considering it didn't suit them and frankly because the Shibuki was fairly useless Katsuro kept it, looking to sell it back to Kirigakure for a large sum after the war. Should be a healthy sum, at least 300 milllion Ryo most likely.
On the other hand the Nuibari, was the rightful spoil of war of the Hyuga clan, and Katsuro respected that. But he also knew that they as taijutsu users with their gentle fist had almost no use for it. Thus he approached them for it, with a specific purpose in mind.
"That blade, would you mind if I took it. Of course not without a price."
"Of course not Commander," Hiashi replied, "in factm it was your plan, preparation and ideas that have led to this overwhelming victory in the first place. We would be happy to give it to you."
"He's right commander," Hizashi added , "besides our clan are not Kenjutsu users."
Katsuro was mildly surprised at their attitude, their gratitude and gratefulness was evident when they wanted to give him such a valuable item for free. Of course as experienced political figures, he knew that they would know that this would align them with him who seemed to be the next Hokage and most powerful person in the Village. He would owe them a favour even if it seemed to be 'free'. But Katsuro did not like these inferred veiled assumptions, he rather set it out directly.
"In that case, I shall gratefully accept. I shall be in your debt for this favour and in return the Hyuga clan will have a 20% discount for 5 years from the Senju and Uzumaki ninja tools produce which will include the sealing items."
The twins smiled back, happy to see Katsuro responding back to their favour even if it would've been acceptable for someone in his position to just ignore it. It helped them understand his character more - someone who would take care of those loyal to him and thus were more assured.
The discount alone would recuperate the 'loss' they suffered significantly, with over 5 years being able to save them over 100 million Ryo easily. Therefore, the leaders of the Main and Branch Line of the Hyuga Clan walked away very happily.
Katsuro took the long blade heading straight for his disciples who were resting nearby after their first significant battle. He walked over to Masaru under a tree who rose to greet him before promptly placing the sword in his hands. Masaru was wide eyed and silent for a moment and opened his mouth to protest, but knowing his teacher and seeing the look he had he sighed. Although he was slightly jealous of Tenaki's new weapon, he didn't expect his own, he had already received far too much, but it looked like he would only be receiving more.
"Thank you teacher." He said solemnly with his head bowed as Katsuro nodded satisfied before turning to the rest of them and inquiring about their first real battle.
