Naruto: The Senju Patriarch

Chapter 88: Do You?

The wedding was meant to be a simple affair. To Katsuro, it was just a signing of a paper document, and not much else, but it mattered to Tsunade, so he complied. Also, when he looked at the list of people he wanted to invite, he realised it literally couldn't be a simple affair.

Minimum of 1000 from the Senju clan, approximately 60 Uzumaki, the Hatake clan of around just 15 including Sakumo and Kakashi, Minato (totally not because he's Kushina's boyfriend), Nara Shikaro and his family, the Sannin, Fugaku and his family, plus some other Uchiha comrades, and Duy and Guy. For partially political reasons, Katsuro also invited many clan leaders to the wedding, but many of them were also his friends too.

All in all, the total guest list came up to 2000. Tsunade, who was already stressing about the wedding for no reason whatsoever, took the opportunity to stress herself out even more. Running around, shouting at anyone she could, hitting him, drinking, gambling - the woman's gambling was probably one of the clan's biggest costs, and if it wasn't for Katsuro and other clan members throughout the Leaf's business acumen, she would likely be in egregious debt. Tsunade hadn't appreciated his efforts to calm her down through humour either.

"Stop behaving like such a girl!"

Needless to say, she didn't see the humour in the joke, and promptly pummelled him for a solid 10 minutes. Katsuro could see that she was actually stressed now, and in an odd way, he was almost glad. So much of her life had been spent worrying about the hardest experiences ever, losing friends, family, war, injuries, and near death. Seeing her worry and stress about something as normal and trivial as a wedding put a smile on his face, and gave him hope for what was to come.

Maybe there is a chance of normality in our lives.

Regardless, Katsuro promised himself he wouldn't disappoint Tsunade's expectations, and set out to prepare the wedding himself.

Hmm. I could use this opportunity to create her dream venue using that Jutsu.

Y'know, now that I think about it, I probably could've been a bit more conspicuous with it, Katsuro thought sheepishly, as Tsunade stood in front of the wedding venue, gaping.

It was massive, but more than that it was beautiful. If anything, it looked more like a palace than a wedding venue, made solely of wood. A hall larger than the entire Senju complex put together, 4 tall towers at each corner with spiral staircases going to the top where there were immaculate views of the Hidden Leaf village and surrounding beautiful forest, as well as synchronised bell / clock towers. The corridors were beautifully decorated with Senju heirlooms and artifacts dating from before even the Warring States Era, and the kitchen was giant, able to house 50 chefs.

"How - how did you do all this in half a day?"

"Shadow Clones, obviously," Katsuro retorted, as if she was stupid. It wasn't a full lie, to be honest. I used them to paint the original structure and move stuff into the building.

Tsunade raised an eyebrow at him for a second, but her excitement and happiness quickly won over her, and she leapt at him, and Katsuro spun her around as they hugged. Thank God, she liked it, Katsuro thought.

"It's beautiful, Suro."

Instead of being humble, Katsuro decided to smirk instead.

"Of course it is - I made it, after all."

Tsunade promptly tried to punch him for his cockiness, but Katsuro, expecting it, dodged and for a while, the pair chased each other around the wedding venue, laughing and smiling just like old times, before the war.

Suddenly, Katsuro got an idea, for one last surprise, for a wedding gift to Tsunade, and he smiled internally to himself.

"Also, I have a small surprise for you on the day about more wedding stuff - don't worry, I've accounted for everything. You've picked out your wedding dress, right?"

Tsunade nodded, smiling.

"Then just make sure you're on time on the day, Tsuna. I'll handle the rest."

The wedding date was set for exactly in a week, and Katsuro got to preparing. There was a new ramen place that had recently opened in the village - he and Tsunade had actually been the first people in the long, long queue to try it out, and it was worth it. Not only that, but he was so impressed with everything - the food, the 2 chefs, and the number of customers, that he had personally invested a large sum into the business for 20% ownership, allowing them to expand into a small restaurant to keep up with the crazy demand. Luckily, that seemed to have its perks, as Katsuro was also entitled to discounted meals, and that, combined with the fact that Ichiraku was the best food spot in all of Konoha and both he and Tsunade's favourite, meant that it was a clear choice for catering. What made it even better was the fact that Tsunade didn't know that he'd invested and Ichiraku could cope with the demand, so she wouldn't be expecting them as the caterers - hence this was his small surprise.

That night, as he laid in bed next to a sleeping Tsunade, Katsuro smiled.

Mom, Dad, Granny Mito - tomorrow, I'm getting married.

People began trickling into the venue arriving in their suits, kimonos and other traditional wedding attire. Suddenly, with a loud group of footsteps following behind him, entered the Third Hokage- Sarutobi Hiruzen had arrived. Katsuro raised an eyebrow before spinning around to Sakumo and Kakashi who were standing behind him, as all three of them giggled seeing the quite surprising but also awkward appearance. Jiraiya, next to the three, cleared his throat, raising his fist, rather intentionally, causing the trio to swiftly spin back around, facing the meant to be former Hokage, who simply smiled and nodded in their direction. Mockingly, after the Hokage had left to take a seat, Kakashi gave him a salute, to which Katsuro and Jiraiya chuckled, and Sakumo slapped the back of his head, shaking his head trying to maintain his composure.

Eventually, everyone had arrived, been seated and quietened down. Harmonious instrumental music began to filter through the air. Now turning back, they grinned and smiled, their eyes wide with encouragement, seeing Katsuro, in a delicately, intricate traditional suit with a cloak, along with Senju and Uzumaki crests on it, stepping down the aisle, alongside Sakumo in a suit. Tears swelled in Might Duy's eyes as he watched his previous opponent pridefully take to the stage. The clan leaders and Hiruzen nodded and smiled towards him. Katsuro, now on the plain, decorated platform, looked around and smiled, barely containing his excitement and joy. He proudly looked at his Sensei, who grinned back. Mr Yairya, the officiator, indicated for him to step forwards to one side of the sleek, polished wooden panel on which he stood.

As Katsuro stepped, another piece of gentle music played. His eyes gleamed and his smile grew as he saw his soon to be wife, striding down the isle, with flowers in her arms, alongside Mr Laho, an elderly Senju man, who had previously provided for her and kept her company after the death of her parents, Granny Mito and Nawaki, and when Katsuro, Sakumo or Kushina were away. Eyes turned to her, and within the crowd, Tsunade saw all the faces she had been familiar with for so long. Jiraiya and Orochimaru smiled at her, Kushina, sitting next to Minato, shed a few tears of happiness giggled, mouthing a message to her. Once she reached the stage, Tsunade looked down, she saw the face of her previous mentor, Hiruzen, causing her to temporarily tighten, but the awkward moment faded once she looked up to see Katsuro grinning at her.

What a goofball, she thought, giggling to herself, nearly unable to contain her overwhelming joy.

For a few seconds the two stared deep into each other's eyes.

I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. They both thought, thinking about each other.

"Will the bride and groom step forward please?" Mr Yairya called, as the music slowly descended into a slow transition of silence.

The couple quietly stepped forward. After a blur of time of traditional vows and an honorary speech, given by Mr Yairya as the officiator, the time soon came for the two to be forever joined, beyond what they previously were to cement their love, even more so than before.

"Lord Senju Katsuro, do you take Lady Tsunade to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
