Chapter 83: 《Naruto: The Ōtsutsuki Bloodline》Chapter 83: Is That You, Minato Namikaze?! (Part 1)
Iwagakure, Tsuchikage's Office
Ōnoki sat at his desk, staring at the documents in his hands, feeling a wave of frustration.
"Deidara, that brat... Why can't he just behave?"
Deidara's talent and abilities were unquestionable, but his personality was anything but reassuring.
Ōnoki had been forced to send him out of the village for reflection, hoping he would calm down. Yet, instead of reflecting, Deidara had gone wild, like a runaway horse, completely letting himself loose.
The documents in Ōnoki's hands detailed all the chaotic incidents Deidara had caused recently.
"If you love explosions so much, why don't you go blow up some mine tunnels? That might actually be helpful!"
Ōnoki threw the files aside in frustration. He couldn't bear to read any more.
"Tsuchikage-sama..."
Just as Ōnoki was at his wit's end, a deep and steady voice interrupted his thoughts.
Looking up, he saw the tall and burly figure of Kitsuchi running toward him, causing Ōnoki to tense up.
"What is it? Is Kurotsuchi here? Tell her I'm not available—I'm very busy!"
Ōnoki adored his granddaughter Kurotsuchi but knew she had a close relationship with Deidara. The two had grown up together, training and studying side by side.
After Ōnoki sent Deidara out of the village, Kurotsuchi had been quite upset and frequently came to bother him.
"It's not Kurotsuchi, Tsuchikage-sama."
Kitsuchi shook his head earnestly.
"Kurotsuchi is busy training. However, this matter does involve Deidara—it's a message from the Anbu."
"Deidara caused trouble again?"
Ōnoki felt a vein bulge on his forehead, his fist clenching in irritation.
"That brat! If only he were as steady as you!"
Ōnoki had personally trained three disciples: Kitsuchi, Deidara, and Kurotsuchi. Kurotsuchi acted as a mediator, maintaining good relationships with both Kitsuchi and Deidara.
But Kitsuchi and Deidara were polar opposites—one steady and reliable, the other wildly unpredictable. The two didn't get along well, with Kitsuchi disapproving of Deidara's constant explosions, and Deidara dismissing Kitsuchi's lack of appreciation for his "art."
"Tsuchikage-sama, according to the Anbu's report..."
To Ōnoki's surprise, Kitsuchi's expression turned solemn.
"The Anbu assigned to monitor Deidara have suddenly lost contact."
"All of them?"
Ōnoki shot to his feet, almost straining his back in the process.
"What happened? Deidara might be reckless, but he wouldn't do something like this. Is someone targeting him?"
"We're not sure. I came here as soon as I received the intel."
"What about other arrangements?"
"I..."
"Enough, I'll handle it."
Ōnoki glanced at Kitsuchi's hesitant expression and shook his head.
"You're too cautious. In situations like this, you need to act decisively. This is the Land of Earth, and we're talking about Deidara here.
Send out the order immediately—mobilize nearby forces and have the Anbu in the vicinity investigate quickly. Find out what's going on."
"Understood."
Kitsuchi nodded, scratching his head, but soon froze in confusion.
Ōnoki had suddenly opened the window and stepped onto the windowsill.
"Tsuchikage-sama, are you going in person?"
"Of course."
Ōnoki snorted, his body beginning to levitate as he floated out of the window.
"Tell Kurotsuchi to keep an eye on things here. I want to see who dares to lay a hand on my disciple!"
Meanwhile, at the Border
Pain stood silently, observing as Kakuzu, Hidan, and Konan joined him.
"Now that everyone is here, let's move out."
"Wait, something feels off..."
Hidan glanced at the group, his expression puzzled. Before he could finish his thought, Kakuzu interrupted him.
"Shut up! Can't you stop talking and focus on the task at hand?"
"Tch, whatever."
Hidan shot Kakuzu a glare but didn't bother arguing.
Fighting Kakuzu was pointless—he couldn't kill him anyway.
Though Hidan would've preferred to spend more time praying to his god, Jashin, he knew he needed to pull his weight in the organization.
Pain wasted no time. Once Hidan and Kakuzu quieted down, he immediately set off.
Konan followed, flying gracefully through the air. Kakuzu and Hidan exchanged glances before trailing after them.
"Tch, heading to the Land of Earth, huh? Wonder if there'll be any suitable sacrifices."
Hidan grumbled under his breath, while Kakuzu ignored him entirely, silently lamenting his own situation.
"Such a hassle. I haven't even replaced the hearts I lost last time, and now we're dealing with more trouble."
Finding compatible hearts wasn't easy, especially ones that matched his needs. Kakuzu could only hope this mission wouldn't create too much chaos.
"That damned brat is so irritating..."
He cursed inwardly, his frustration mounting.
In Another Part of the Border
Nagato sat weakly inside a sealed carriage, his voice barely above a whisper.
"They're on the move. Maintain your distance."
Years of supplying chakra to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path had taken a toll on Nagato's body, but he didn't regret his decision.
"Nagato, this mission might be challenging. Be cautious."
Konan's voice drifted in from outside the carriage.
Given Nagato's frail condition, Konan had opted to leave a paper clone with the main group while staying by his side to ensure his safety.
"I understand. I'll avoid unnecessary risks."
Nagato nodded. Now wasn't the time for direct confrontation, neither for him personally nor for the Akatsuki as a whole.
"Still, Jiraiya-sensei has been pursuing us relentlessly.
Fortunately, he doesn't know about the Rain Village yet. We'll need to keep a low profile moving forward."
The sudden appearance of Jiraiya had been a nuisance. Killing him wouldn't be easy, either.
Nagato was confident in his own strength, but defeating someone and killing them were two entirely different matters.
Even without considering emotional ties, most shinobi had their own escape techniques.
For instance, while Nagato could defeat Orochimaru, killing him outright was a different story.
The best strategy would be to surround and overwhelm a powerful ninja—that might be the only way to eliminate them completely.
Back at the Ruined Temple
The battles between the three pairs of fighters raged on.
"Lightning Cutter!"
Kakashi's right hand crackled with lightning as he closed in on Itachi. Just before the attack landed, Itachi sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Grabbing Kakashi's arm, Itachi activated his Sharingan, unleashing a genjutsu.
But something felt off. Within the illusionary world, Kakashi's body began to burn—yet it wasn't his real body.
Poof!
A puff of smoke erupted nearby as Kakashi emerged from the ground, Lightning Cutter aimed directly at Itachi once more.
"Your genjutsu won't work on me."
As Kakashi's clone shattered, a surge of electricity enveloped Itachi.
"A Lightning Clone?"
Itachi remained composed, his body dissipating into smoke—it was a Shadow Clone.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
Itachi reappeared at a distance, completing the hand seals. A massive fireball hurtled toward Kakashi.
Boom!
The fireball exploded, but Kakashi vanished, only to reappear behind Itachi moments later.
"This is getting troublesome..."
Itachi cursed inwardly. Kakashi's tactical skills were exceptional, and his Sharingan had evolved, constantly keeping Itachi's genjutsu in check.
To make matters worse, Itachi had already used Susano'o earlier, and his eyes were beginning to ache.
Meanwhile, Jiraiya and Kisame's battle was far more direct.
Neither lacked chakra, and their attacks were relentless.
"Sorry, but I have nothing to tell you."
Kisame evaded Jiraiya's strikes, responding with a cold snort.
"I'm a ninja. Secrets aren't something I can casually reveal. Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet!"
"Tch, stubborn bastard."
Though Jiraiya cursed under his breath, he couldn't help but admire Kisame's ability to perform such powerful Water Release techniques even without a nearby water source.
"His chakra reserves are immense, and that blade of his can absorb chakra. This guy is seriously tough to deal with."
Jiraiya completed his own hand seals.
"Fire Release: Great Flame Bullet!"
A massive flame collided with the water dragon, generating a thick mist that enveloped the area.
Jiraiya remained vigilant, scanning his surroundings as he formed another seal.
"Now's my chance! Ninja Art: Needle Jizō!"
As Kisame swung Samehada toward Jiraiya's back, Jiraiya's hair suddenly grew longer, wrapping around Kisame's wrists and legs.
"Troublesome..."
Kisame cursed inwardly, forced to adjust his blade to sever Jiraiya's hair.
And so, the battles continued...
